| I could bend comfortably by day 5 it must depend on the positioning of your port. I think in any case that it is all an indovidual thing and you shouldnt push yourself if you feel pain...on another note I can bend but cant sleep on my side and I am 11 days post op... so there ya go. |

Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me how long it will be before I can bend down properly to pick things up? I can finally sleep on my side now in the last few days. I am 12 days post op.
Cheers

Mollee, Brelly hit the nail on the head when she said that she started opti as it was a positive begining to her journey.
I did exactly the same thing.. after visiting my dietician I decided to start my epic journey there and then and went straight out and bought it. I never looked at the opti as a trivial part of the op but as important as say the anesthetic.
When I had this light switch go off in my head that the opti was as much apart of what I wanted to acheive as the band there was no stopping me.
The night snacking will not be and issue after the 4th day..you will be focused and sleeping like a baby with reduced hunger...
I know you can do it because by your posts you are a determined woman...if I an out of control, irreverent 10 year old trapped inside the carcass of a 45 year old woman can do it... I have no doubts in you...its just your perspective.
Take it and shake the sh1t out of it and show it whos boss...

Adorabull,
Found your thread. B u m p ed it for you. I just did a google on 'anyone from Tasmania' and it brought up the thread. I've done this before when I've lost a thread. Go Google. |

| I have heard something about a 'black hole' between pages 1 and 2 (not sure if it relates to any others). Might just be a case of wait a while and see if it magically reappears. |

Hi Mollee,
Yeah my house is pretty clean, and I am always on this site reading how everyone is going, it really helps to know that we are not alone and others are facing the same stuggles as we are. That we can fall off the wagon but with support get back up there again, after my first op I was so devastated I really needed support and I got here and with two wonderful friends. Hi Hilary Hi Donna!
I went private with Dr France had my op at Calvary and it cost $1400 for op, $300 for anethesist, plus $500 for excess and some other stuff. Pretty expensive all up.
I am in Adelaide, where are you?

Hey Brelly
That is the one thing that i am dreading my late night snacks. I think that my house will be the cleanest in the suburb as I will be washing ironing and dusting and vacing etc etc and then I will be here lurking reading and posting and probably complaining with it. As i said in one of my earlier posts this is my reality check so that I don't cheat I think as I know I would have. Brelly did you go private or public and where r u

Hi Mollee,
The first op I was on opti for 2 weeks 2 meals opti and one VLCD dinner, I did all sorts of things wrong and had a lot of things against me.
So after operation failed it was 6 weeks until he could get me in again, I really stuck to it big time and had a good result.
Yeah Mollee hang in there because you have already started your journey it doesnt just start at the operation it starts when we take action to do something for ourselves.
Good on you girl you can do it and yes next week you will be complaining about the Bl 00 dy opti, but it is good really because it has all your vitamines and protiens etc.
Snack foods were hardest for me at nights. I would not have been able to do it without my sugar free DD lollies.

Hey Mollie,
I know your frustration, I had my operation only to wake up finding out my Dr France could not go through with it due to my liver being too big, so it was back on the opti for me for 6 weeks. BUT I am glad in a way as I feel better prepared emotionally this time and I had to earn my operation this time round it made me all the more determined.
Anyway I am 9 days post op and doing very well, my liver was lovely according to my Dr. So dont despair just go with what is before you and see it as all part of the journey!
Hang in there, they havent said you cant have it they just need you to be your best for this very important operation.

I know what your saying is right but its just so hard to keep chin up and to keep a positive outlook as this is all i have focused on for so long. I will try and be more postive about and start my opti and see what happens.
Thanks again |

Mollee it is much better to make sure everything is fine that to undertake this surgery with an axe hanging over your head.
Try to look at it from the direction that you infact are very lucky to have a medical team that cares for your healthy out come.. If it were just a money situation you would be whipped in and banded as it were... I think you are very fortunate to have this medical staff and for them to be so vigilant and thorough...
This should tell you that you are indeed in good hands and will be assured of an excellent out come.
lookup ward my love... this is a good thing. |

Hi there
Just thought I would give you an update but thought I would wait till my roller coaster finished. I got a phone call this afternoon not from Jason Winnett but from another dr from the hospital about my results and now they want me to have an ultrasound on the 4th July she said that my levels were slightly elevated but not sure exactly as she never had the results in front of her, so the tears started to flow and I think I made her quite uncomfortable as she really didn't know what to say as she was very quiet and just said we need to do the ultrasound and then we can start from there. I said this is so unfair that you can give someone a date and then maybe loose that date because the tests that you do may come back a bit higher. I am being a SOOK I know but its just so bloody hard to get this far and then to have it taken away for you maybe. Oh god roll on the 4th July maybe fingers crossed it will be good. Sometimes I think that I maybe not meant for this. Oh god I hope I am!!!!!!!!!1 |

Unzippin,
It doesn't matter how you get the wind out as long as you get it out.
Trust me my hubby has been very worried about the sounds emitting from me especially since the fill today. The burps have become more urgent and a lot louder.

Thankyou Pyretta I think its a mix of lo sugar as well. When I look at my carb count for the day it was next to nil with the egg for breakfast and the salmon for lunch. I do think my food is too thick tho...i think I will do as you said and make it extra runny. I was a bit surprised when the dietician told me the thickness she wanted me to have it seemed a bit much to me... I am skipping dinner tonight and just gonna have a cup of tea I think.
I have lowered my diabex but I still think that it is too much for amount of food I am eating combined with my weight loss.
I asked on thursday and they said the diabex meds were prob the prolem. |
