Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Mollee... when you feel you are loosing control, go for a walk. A couple of weeks ago I had a shocker. I felt like my kids had turned on me and I lost my block one day about something and next thing it was like an all in brawl. Both the eldest and the youngest took off... the youngest didn't come back for a few days. I was distraught and had no idea what to do. I rang a doctor that I knew and he got me into see a psychologist two days later. I have to say, I have not felt better in my head than I have since having three visits with this lady. That and walking... everytime I think that I am going to do or say something, or one of my family is going to do or say something that I am not going to like, I go for a walk. Even if it is just up and down out the front of the house. But you need to clear your mind and not dwell on the problem at hand, you need to relax, think about pleasant things... and about how far you have come and about where you want to be.

You will be right, it is just hard when you feel things going south. Let us know how you are later on or tomorrow.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Mollee.. yes, it all gets the better of us sometimes. I do feel for you and I can feel your frustration. You know that quitting is not the answer. You need to fight through the horrid PMT and when that is over, you will see light at the end of the tunnel.

Have you taken all the right things to help you with the PMT. You need to do that.. you need to see a naturapath who can help you with that. There are lots of things that can help with the horrid PMT.

Are you kids on holidays?? That is not easy, and if they are wee ones, that is even harder to manage. Can't help with the partner - they are the hardest to deal with of all when they decide to be difficult.

Now... chin up and remember, this time next week, this week will be a distant memory. Get to the health food shop and see if they can help you with some natural remedies. I suffer depression and outbursts of anger and I have been diagnosed with being peri menapausal which I am now on a natural vitamin to help me with that. The other thing I have been doing of late which really helps, is walking. If I feel myself loosing control, or just feeling miserable, I put on my iPod and go for a walk. I usually come back feeling better.

We do understand - so don't throw in the towel just yet. We will help you through this bad patch, we all have them.

Hang in there lovie...

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
This is for Shmee... I went to the dietician and took the back door problem question to her...

She told me to go to the chemist and get "movicol" It will evacuate the problem but also put fluid into it so its soft with out causing diareah.

She then said to start adding unprocessed bran to my food and to take a yogurt daily that has pre and pro biotics in it and either a small glass of pear juice or prune juice at breakfast.

She also said that you may have to do the movicol for a couple of days to make sure all the impaction is gone.

Hope this helps.. I know Im gonna give it a whirl

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Suzy, I think its very important to keep happy as you say.

Bing a bandster is hard work on some days, but this is our life and this journey is not always smooth and I accept its for life from now on, so I applaud you for your positive attitude, do whatever it takes to keep those happy feelings growing...if its with good company and a few drinks, I'll gladly join you, i'm partial to odd vodka or two.
I don't see this losing weight as a short term project, full of depravation and misery, but permanent changes in my eating/lifestyle for now on ( keep telling this to myself)

Thanks Linda,
I think a few weeks of abstinense might be the go! I must get my party animal tamed! Good advice though, as I don't tend to drink after a meal at home, too full.

Hi Suzy, I have found it is the drink before dinner that does the most damage. If you can hold out until you have some food in your stomach you will tolerate it better.

Thanks Di,
Just another adjustment I will have to make and quick as I go out alot with Reps etc and I don't want to make a fool of myself! I am inclined to be abit of a self basher anyway, it is only me that gets so annoyed with me, but still I need to keep me happy. I hope that makes sense?

HI Suzy, its true, I feel it as well, the alcohol being liquid will go straight through the band into the lower stomach, then into the blood stream quicker after banding becasue there is so little food in the larger stomach to mix with and slow it down. Cheers Di

I would think if anyone can it must be the pope who can conjer up good weather surely! The weather won't matter in Brissie as you will be having too much fun to notice! It has been a particularly cold year everywhere I think. You have a great time!

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Thanks Suzy. My little girl is gorgeous. And don't worry about the wine, I will manage to get through a few more days without one... I will save it up for some good night's out up in Brisvegas next week with my girlfriends... I hope it is warmer up there than it is here in Sydney. Mind you, the weather is beautiful out there, but this year I am finding that even when the heating is on... I am cold.

The Pope and his pilgrims certainly managed to pick the right week to come to town, or they has inside information!

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Some people tolerate the fizzy stuff ok... I don't. I struggle with panadol soluable. I have to wait ages for it to settle and give it a good stir to rid it of the bubbles. I tend to use anything with fizz to give me relief if I have a blockage... works a treat.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Oh well Mel,
At least you would only drink one bottle and not two!!!!LOL! I might even come up with some sort of calorie free concotion that is also alcohol free, I can tolerate some bubbles if they are not too fizzy, such as schweppes sugar free ciato or agrium, not bad flavours.

Suzy... wine with water and a few cubes of ice is the way to go. It saves a lot of calories as well... as long as you still don't drink the whole bottle ;)

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Thanks Mel,
That is very sound advice and I too drink wine, It is pretty hard to drink much else because of the fizz. I will as of this minute take on board what you have said and stop beating myself up! And yes I will have to accept that I am now a two pot screamer and drink loads of water in between. Thanks again, I just needed to know I am not the only one.

cheers,

Suzy

Mel,

You're not referring to 'bandits with blogs' are you? I suspect you mean something else - maybe a thread I've not come across yet.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Hi Suzy... you are far from alone. There are a few here who could tell a tale or two I am sure about ourselves or other bandits that have the same problem.

I too have been told I drink too much, and sometimes I know I do and am the first to admit it. I have been finding the best thing to do is to water my wine down. Depends on what you drink I suppose. Because we eat so little, the alcohol does go to our heads and some of us become one drink wonders. Unfortunately I can still drink most people under the table with few side effects... odd it is. The reason I have cut my alcohol with water is to lower the calories, not the effects. I love a night out with lots of fun, bevvies and dancing.

Maybe when you order a drink, ask for a water and sip the water and the drink alternatively.

We are but human and we all have our weaknesses when it comes to certain foods or drinks. Don't drive yourself crazy about it, just think about it the next time you are heading out for a bit of fun and frivolity... one alcholic drink, one water... and so on. And also, try to eat a decent amount during the day if you are planning a night out.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Hi everyone,

I am feeling a bit down today so I thought I'd cruise through the threads. I tend to drink far too much when I am out socially, it's not because I am depressed or anything else, quite the opposite actually, I am a fun loving dancing type, but I have found that since banding, I think the drinks are going to the head much quicker and then I feel embarrased the next day. I know what I have to do and i am going to do it! I need to stop bashing myself up and stop drinking so much and there goes the problem right.
Has anyone else found this problem?
