Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
The fire near my place was started by an idiot. There was a small grass fire in the morning, it was put out with no problems, but it damaged a bit of this guys back fence. So at 3pm he got out there with an angle grinder to cut away the damaged part. The sparks took off and that was it. Six families have lost their homes cause of him.

Thanks Mel, it could so easily have been me. Still could if some fool lights a fire near here. I just feel sick and so helpless.

I hope all our band buddies are safe from those terrible fires
now 108 confirmed dead ,
I hope the toll does not continue at this rate

they say these fires ,were were started by sick fools,
I hope they catch the culprits soon

I believe burning them alive would not even be enough punishment ,
no word describes them ,

((may God bless the firefighters risking their lives))
you are hero's

take care ,Doreen

please remember to drink extra in this heat

I am glad to see you here Linda and that all is well. I do hope our other Vic friends are safe. It is absolutely beyond my imagination how horrific the situation is down there and how these people are going to manage with the horror images that must be in their minds.

It certainly has put the issues that I have at the moment into insignificance... my thoughts and prayers are with everyone.

Hi Delia,

I think the metalic taste you have been having is what is what is know as Ketosis. Put very simply, Ketosis is a state where our body burns stored fat for energy instead of carbohydrates. Check it our on the web it will explain it far better then I can. Good on you for taking the big step.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Thanks for your concern Pyretta. We are safe and well. Luckily there are no fires near us at the moment. That could change in an instant though. I am in shock over the loss of so many lives. That northerly is a killer wind.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Bron

Don't stress yourself about another op until you see the doc and get x-ray results. If the worst comes to the worst, it won't be exactly the same operation to reposition a slip, they don't touch the port and for me as this was the largest area to heal it made my repositioning post-op a breeze compared with the first operation.

I had to go on pre-op Opti again and the usual post-op clear liquids, liquids, mushies then solids but it was so much easier second time around as I knew what I had to do and wasn't stressing. Oh a tip, second time around post-op I just went on Tony Fersuson shakes for the liquids stage, so much easier not to have to worry about what nutritional type of liquid I was going to put into my body at the next drink time.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Oh gosh, how terribly, terribly sad & devastating it all is.

It really does make one have a different perspective on life at times like this.
Priorities change, and what used to be important is not always so.

I am also having a huge lack of comprehension & understanding that this has taken place in our country, and near to where I lived not all that long ago.

A tragedy.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this disaster.

It has been confirmed that Brian Naylor and his wife have both perished in the fires. So tragic, I am just speechless.

For anyone in Melbourne that wants to help Diamond Creek Evacuation centre needs volunteers tomorrow and Tuesday.

The weather is cool, but the country is tinder dry.

Brian and his wife lost their son just six months ago in a plane crash. I swim with a neighbor of theirs. I just can't comprehend what he is going though if he is still alive.

The police commissioner is telling us to brace for the deaths to go into triple figures. It's surreal.

Di,

It has been much cooler today, the problem is the wind is still blowing. The Kinglake fire front is 80km wide and that is just one of the 4 major fire still burning.
