Hahahahaha.....
That is funny... I am on my first lovely gorgeous bourbon!!!!!! I have a reputation with one person as being a drunk... fortunately I am not one, and never will be... but do enjoy my bourbon and sometimes these days, a wine.

Well done on your surgery. You will be fine by February and well sorted with what you can and can't manage.
As for fluids... yes, you will be sipping along for life. You will get into the swing of it... it is something you get used to quite early in the peace.
Best wishes...

Well done!! You now don't have to just grab something and run, you fit into smaller sizes. Great feeling.
I have to stop myself looking in the big size shops, it is just a habit, but I feel uncomfortable in other shops as I feel like the shop assistants look at me thinking 'what are you doing here, we have nothing that fits you'.. Silly I know, and no one has actually ever said that to me (even at my biggest), but I just feel it. |

mel- exactly! I have always thought there was a "Law of the conservation of the fatter" similar to Einstein's law of the conservation of matter. One person loses, another gains. I'm just hoping that my weight goes to someone truly needy...
On the matter of weight fluctuations, Dr. Rick Kausman's booke, If Not Dieting, than What? has a really interesting discussion of weight fluctuation in women. I'll try to dig it up. The upshot is, don't worry even though it is a bummer. The long term picture is the key.
It's been one of my goals not to weigh myself too often, but to be on the lookout for the NSVs. (ie 'Despite feeling c ra p I did _______ for myself.') Sometimes I focus on the wrong "w", weight instead of wellness. To make the scales move is tough, but often one little walk, one phone call to a friend, one little NSV triumph, can really improve my wellness. |

Hi, I think you need to step back and take a deep breath. in and out fully.
You are way way to hard on yourself in my opinion.,
Okay so you are where you were 3 months ago, are you at the same place as 6 months ago a year ago, i don't know when you were banded but take the big picture not just this little step side ways.
sit down and go over everything, it just may be changing something in your excersise routine, or
a snack, or hormones, mine are playing havoc with me at the moment.
Please don't beat yourself up, its not going to change unless you weighed on the wrong scales.
I haven't budged much in the last 2 months either.
I know mine is my own fault though.
you will dust yourself off and get back to it in no time.
no one said it was going to be plain sailing all the way you have hit some big waves thats all.

Thanks for your thoughts. |

Losinit... that is just plain crazy. It must be a fluid retention problem. Hormones play havoc with us poor women, so maybe that is the cause. I would suggest a trip to the chemist for some celery and juniper tablets, or even see the gp and get some heavy duty diuretics...
Hang in there, don't let it get you down because maybe next week it will have moved on to some poor other unsuspecting person. I always say when a person loses weight, someone else gains... I have a girlfriend who has put on almost exactly the same amount that I have lost... poor darling. And I gained 3.5 kilos post arm surgery, and another friend of mine lost 4... so I got her lot!

so sorry losing it. I wish I had an explanation, but I don't. Have you talked to your doc about it? And don't take this the wrong way ,but are you pregnant?
I'd like to hear how this turns out. |

Michelle,
You said they gave you some great suggestions, would you share those with us? I'll take any advice and see if it works for me. Also, to help pick better food, plan your meals and snacks before you go to the store for groceries and do it when you are not hungry. When I go to the store, I choose better snacks, then I don't have a choice when I pack my lunch. Make sense? |

Just a note for anyone who might be feeling a bit disappointed about their weight loss. I can almost guarantee that you can't be feeling as c r a p py as I am at the moment, as I have gained 6.2 kgs in one week. I honestly can't believe it, I never thought it would be possible. I haven't been perfect (obviously), but I certainly haven't been bad enough to gain that amount. A couple days of a bit extra, but the rest of the time pretty damn close to perfect. And I've kept up my exercise.
There is no explanation - I don't believe that even when I was unbanded and might have been running rampant that I could possibly have gained that amount of weight in such a short time. Along with a smaller gain the previous week, it means I am now taken back to what I weighed 3 months ago - and with such a lot of effort going in along the way.
So - next time you feel bad about how much you're losing, just have a read of this. It HAS to make you feel better! |
