Me,

Glad to hear things are staying down.

Try and get some pureed fruit or fruit juice in today.

Never say never on the steak. You'll find one day it might go down.

Glad to hear you are feeling better though. I'm off the the Ave for a weigh in, but definately no top up this week!

Oh but good news: According to their scales I've lost 4kg since this morning! Which means approximately 7kg since my dietician appointment on the 16th Feb.

I also did curves for about 8 months. Didn't lose a single gram! But I did enjoy it and felt much fitter. I gave it up due to study but would like to get back to it after being banded in May. Cath

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Jo,

don't let what this woman is doing scare you. Some people will have vitamin deficiencies after banding, but as long as we take multi vitamins and eat balanced meals we're fine. Yes some people have problems with read meats, but that can be overcome in a lot of cases just by cooking it differently. Say using mince or a slow cooker to cook the meat in.

We don't know why the woman your mother knows is eating what she does, but having a band means working with it and eating mashed potato and white chocolate aren't exactly following any doctors guidelines I've heard of.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Hi All,
I was just talking to my mum and she told me that she meet someone who has to have Iron Injections as she cant get enough through eating......she doesn't eat red meat and was banded 2 and a half years ago, she has also lost only 25 kilos in that time. This has scared my mum and she said she doesn't want me to get sick because I am not eating properly. Has anyone here had an issues with vitamins/iron intake......also has anyone been banded for a long period of time and are not able to eat correctly eg meat. I would love any info as this has scared me a little. My mum also said that this girl looked like she wasn't eating well......for lunch she had mashed potato and then cheese cake!!! then ordered sandwiches which she put in her bag. She also told mum that she eats alot of white chocolate because she can get it down. Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Flying - I am always up in the air going somewhere, never had any probs at all flying though when I leave the ground on a trip i turn into a good girl and dont push my luck i any way ie eating things I am not 100%sure will go down ok. I am off to the lovely country that yahoo doesnt like ja-pa -n in a couple of weeks and will live mainly on soups and yoghurts. I have been to europe several times since banding for 8 - 10 weeks including a cruise and managed no probs. my advise is just be very sensible and dont try pushing your luck. Last time I was in ja-pa -n I had a small amount of fill taken out as a precaution but have decided against doing that this time, as it has taken me almost 18 months to get back to where I was at the time weight wise.

Cath,

I wish I could have told my girls. I really do feel awful that i have kept this from them.

But they are hormonal, vindictive girls at times and would love something that they could have as a bargaining tool.

Im glad that you have made your decision to tell your children.

Thanks Rose, its always interesting to hear how others handle this aspect. I have decided to tell my kids but have asked that they keep it to themselves but they can ask me anything they want for reassurance. I know what you mean about running in to people who know you as I was once admitted to hospital for a mental health issue and was looked after by someone who knew me. I just had to count on this nurse's professionalism. Hope all is going well for you Rose, Cath

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Cath,

Sorry it has taken me a day to answer. When I was going in to be banded I told my girls I was going into hospital for secret womens business. My girls are so self focused that they accepted that and truely only worry about themselves.

When I came home and was eating liquids for 2wks and puree for the other 2wks they just thought that I was on another fad diet. As long as they were fed, they wernt truely interested.

I didnt tell my teenage girls as they have very big mouths on them and would have shouted it from the roof tops with great glee.

My 7yr old son saw my wound/scars and asked me what happened all worried. I just told him I was hurt and the Dr fixed me. He accepted that answer.

I hate lying, but this is the way I wanted it to be.

In saying this, I went for a fill the other day and saw someone I knew in the Drs room. (I nearly died on the spot). I went all hot and clamy and didnt know what to do. I couldnt lie why I was there because this Dr is just for bandits and she saw me get weighed too.!!!

I guess I wasnt ready for someone to know my secret. I spoke to this lady, and asked her to please respect my privacy. She said of course I wont tell anyone its your business. So on the other flip of the coin, you have to be ready and on your guard at all times if this is the way you want to go.

This woman luckily does not associate with any of my friends so fingers crossed that my secret stays a secret.

take care,

Rose

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Hi Colleen. If you are nervous about eating on a plane try ordering a vegetarian meal. At least you won't have any tough chicken or meat. If your vegetarian meal looks a bit dry you have more chance of getting a normal meal as they usually have spares.
