Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Thanks all of you who replied. I think I will call tomorrow and ask, like Gerry suggested. I was just hoping that it would loosen since it's been 2 weeks.
I have lost 10lb since the fill. I would be happy with 10 a month, so ya, I could stand to get some out and slow down. I've lost a total of 65 since surgery date (4 1/2 months). I should slow down and maybe enjoy some food again.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
hey col and Rkfhop,
i couldnt agree more, i find that if i have aten far to fast up it comes if i take my time i actaully enjoy it more as i dont have the stress of pbing and actaully get more down , if i have suffered pbing i will go back to fluids at least for the next meal to settle it back down , gotta love the band certainly has a mind of its own at times!!

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Hi Rkfhop....Also look at the speed you are eating. We tend to speed up again when we get more confident with the band so slow right down ..take 20 mins to eat your meal at least and it may settle.Sometimes we get swelling at the band site from pb'ing so it takes a little time to re-settle....Col

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Hi rkfhop2,
Give the doc a ring this morning, it sounds like you are too tight, you should be able to eat fairly normally, so if you are only able to eat soft or mushy things you'll be in the red zone and will need some fill out.
My hubby tried to ignore the burning sensation and the PBing for a fortnight and got a wrap over the knuckles from doc when we went to see him, but when I listened to the doc explaining I too realised that my band was also too tight.
He explained that you should be able to eat almost anyting you want as long as it's only a half a cup full at each meal time.
Don't feel disheartened at the thought of having some fill out as we found out that being too tight also meant we didn't loose any weight and my hubby weirdly had put on weight.
Hope this helps with your ?.
Best wishes,
Gerry

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Question:
I have been banded 4 1/2 months, been doing well, but this fill, 2 weeks ago has given me grief. First, it was just tight. Just the last couple of days I have been able to eat anything other than soup and Optifast. I haven't been throwing up, maybe twice over the last 2 weeks. Starting yesterday, it feels like heartburn. Not true heartburn, but just enough burning to make me not want to eat anything. I tried some baked beans and it burned. What has been your experience with the feeling of heartburn? No burping or anything. Can I take regular ole Tums? Is that a good solution? Or is that just going to mask the true problem? It seems like when I conquer one problem, there's another. Not that I regret the decision AT ALL. Just a little frustrated today.

Thanks,

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Nearly 3 and a half years banded here. I have been on the board for 4 years, have had several ID changes in that time though.
There is a lady who has been baned 7 years who posts from time to time. I don't think I have seen anyone here banded longer.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Jodine,

It really depends on what you class as a long timer. I've been banded since 2007, but been on this board since it started. Mel has been around just as long, Leanne and Julie as well. Anna, has been banded a while now as well. I'm sure there are others too.

Some of the founding members still pop in from time to time.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
just curious, might be wrong..theres not too many bandsters on here that are long timers, Ive been banded five years now and still read this everyday, its like reading a book that you learn new stuff every day, no person is the same and with food I cant eat but want to, I chew then spit out..as long as im at home, I drink threw a straw always and take almost an hour every meal.
anyway just wonderng if anyone else is a long timer???

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
I found out that eggs do not work for me either now. Made a cheese omelette yesterday and ate about 2 mouthfulls, the second one really giving me grief. There was not problem getting it up, it just came up with no effort, but it was disappointing as I was hungry and had been looking forward to my yummy omelette.
Prawns work fine with me (big smile), I often get them at lunchtime from Safeway and use a diet Thousand Island Dressing as a dip. The prawns are very good protein and very low in fat.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
i am sure you will be fine, just dont have a fill just before you go.!!!
Eat carefully and get back into it when you get home.I am at about 12 weeks in at the moment and was great until last weeks fill. have 4.7 ml and think that will do for now.

Alredy have, the trouble was flight centre said I would be covered but when I checked up this morn insurance people said I wouldnt be they said no way as they cant assese[?] me,hearing you went to Canada helps,I guess I will just have to wait and see what sort of ride I get over the next few weeks,do you have a feeling when something is wrong like slippage, I guess I hope that the worst would be something getting stuck but if Im carefull that shouldnt happen, I hope.

Everyone seems to be different re fills but I flew to canada at 14 weeks after two fills 5.5 mls total. No problems at all. You will still take out the travel insurance even tho it doesn't cover the band won't you??

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Am flying to Hong Kong in 12 weeks and have just found out that I cant get travel insurance for my lap band should anything go wrong, my band will be 12 weeks old, what I wont to know is what is the general state of things at 12 weeks, how many fills should I have had by then?Im thinking that If all good at 103weeks then I should leave all alone what do you experienced bandsters think.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Eggs anyway are difficult for me... drives me spare as they are such a good source of protien...

Yogurt doesn't work either, and ice cream is also something I gave up on.

Mel

Chinese... I find that anything with lots of sauce is ok. And salt and pepper calamari and prawns always were ok.

scrambled eggs are notoriously difficult for bandits, you would think that they would go down fine but I have to say that i can eat steak but scrambled eggs will stop me everytime.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Re the chinese meal. I am like you and have not told anyone except husband and daughters. I have eaten chinese regularly, ( BUT then i can skull water too ) My band is reasonably tight and i find that i am very affected by stress and / moods. So at the moment my band can be tight as, one day and good the next. I eat the soup, and often just have another entree for main. ( friends no i am dieting lol well they can see that, so they don't question it.) I find i can manage prawns well. Prawns in a seafood sauce or a curry has been fine. Chicken chow meain..lots of sauce was fine. Just remember to chew between small ,outhfuls and if you chat alot that will be easy. Best of luck with the dinner. Alex
