| Nancy please be very careful. One of the reason to take it easy and rest is not only for the settling of the band but also the healing of your incision. If any tearing or weakening occurs (this is on the inside) then you are upping the chances for incision hernias to occur that is wear contents like bowel, fat, omentum (protective layer on the inside) can get caught in the weaken area and cause you some problems. That is why it is so important to take things really easy so that the inside incision as well as the outside incision can heal completely. Please don't take offence I am just imparting some information that you may or may not be aware of. Give yourself a good 2 weeks off and play the "dying swan" lol. Ok know that I have played preacher its time for me to be the parishener and go to confession. I had a weak moment last night that I am very ashamed off. I stole a square of white milk choclate from my daughters stash normally I would of stolen the whole damn thing. but it is the only bad thing I have done except for the liquified thai food but I classified that as nourishing lol. So I am rather proud with the amount of chocolate that was in this house this easter that I only had 1 small square granted 1 small square too many but I am only human lol. Back to work this afternoon wonder how many people will notice a change. Have a good day |

| I am trying to get onto a waiting list for lap banding in the public system. Can anyone help me with names of hospitals that do this surgery so that I can ... speak firmly with my doctor about them. I weigh over 160kg, have PCOS, thyroid and insulin resistance issues and see little other option. Thank you in advance for responding. |

Nancy, that is great.... but please take it easy!!!! You don't want to end up overdoing it and end up going backwards.
Wonderful to have people around you who understand what is going on with your band. Your food bill must have dropped considerably!

Hi Mel.
You'll be pleased to hear that yesterday I went back to the gym and did a GENTLE 30 minute walk on the treadmill. Not too bad an effort for being only 4 days post op! Hubby is banded too, so I've got a good mentor to guide me :-) |

Hey all,
I had my friend take a pic of me wearing my size 22 jeans. It really puts things into perspective! People can add me on facebook to see my pics if they want. I'm feeling better about myself..despite the loss I still consider myself enormous which I obviously need to stop doing (the pics help me see that)

Thank you all for your replies it hs been invaluable. I have to be more in order. The hardest part this week has been the fact that I have been out with family during the easter hols & did not take anything with me, I was stupid in thinking wherever we were going they would have things I could have to suit a bandit, how wrong I was!
Anyway, I am back on track & I am NOT going 2 let food control me anymore, I AM THE BOSS!!
Thank u all once again.

Hey Col -- I just had a thought. (And YES, it is a silly one!!)
You know how that Anthony Robbins guy goes around and does those massive "inspirational" seminars ???
Well ... you could do "pep talk" seminars for us bandits on the "lapband circuit" !!!
A new career is born !!
lol

| Nice pep talk. Just what I needed as well as have eating a lot of chocolate over the last couple of days. No where near as much as I used to, but just the same - I thought I had beaten my chocolate habit - wrong. I am going to hide those damned Easter Eggs right now! Thanks Col. |

Lora and Jaqui....Come on ladies.....it is time for you to take control of your eating....You would have read on these forums a hundred times that it is up to you to rein in the old eating habits...the band isn't going to do it for you without you putting in some effort too. 10 days banded and 3 1/2 weeks banded is not long so you have got to get tough.Lora....I don't know how long you were told to be on liquids but you must be getting close enough to have some mushies...mashed potato pumpkin and mashed veg ....liquified chicken or fish or mince...give the surgeon a ring and tell them you are hungry but be strong...you have got a long way to go and the hard part is over for you.
Jaqui.....you have to get into the mushies ....have a big pot of your faves already cooked and in 1 cup serves and eat them every 2 hrs or a bit longer till you get through this phase but you are close to eating normal food again so don't blow it now.....no more than 1 cup at a time remember and walk away and get occupied with something .Your fills probably won't be till you are eating normally again so you must wait.Sorry ladies but it is early days and it is up to you to be strong...think of the big picture....and the future of being skinny again and wearing nice clothes and not fat gear...shopping in normal clothes shops and not the fat sections...being able to play with the kids or grand kids and not sitting on your butts to the side and not being part of their lives.Get back to thinking the same way as when you decided to be banded .Go and stand in front of a mirror and look at yourself and remember that that is not how you want to look....Sorry...but we all want to hear of your success stories...not failing because of food....it is the thing that will take you to an early grave if you don't want to take it on....all my very best.......Col |
