Re:Changing Formula Reply to this message
My duaghter was the same. She would not take to formula and would constintly throw up and be constipated. I tried her on Karicare Sensicare and she was great from then on. If your daughter is good on soy then keep her on it. Unless you really want to change it, then speak to your doctor and find out if she is Lactose Intolerant. Sensicare comes in normal form and thickened form too, for when they get a little older and a bit greedier. It is great 'cos it is gentle on the stomach and easier to digest. Be careful also with formula with extra Iron, alot of the gold or advanced formulas have it. It can be too much iron for the baby and cause bad constipation. Try giving her one bottle and if she was ok, try another and if u see any change go back to soy. if she is fine then stick with it.

The goat's formula is good but very expensive. Keep child on soy formula and DON'T use any other formula.

Re:Changing Formula Reply to this message
I would be VERY careful about commencing soy formula. Talk to a lactation consultant, they are the experts, not the doctors in this field. I would recommend something like the Karicare Goats milk formula. It is the smaller protein that is much more easily absorbed making it much more digestiable to the immature digestive system. Good Luck.

Re:Changing Formula Reply to this message
I would try the new formula at a morning feed and see the reaction if any. The best place to get advice is your health centre nurse or bottle feeding mothers association, their number should be in the white pages. Good Luck

Changing Formula Reply to this message
Hello everyone....

My daughter will be nine weeks tomorrow and at the beginning she had problems with colic and acid reflux (she still does) for the acid reflux I bought like a small mattress for babies with acid reflux and that fixed that problem. I changed the formula to lactose free and that helped. Yesterday, I aply for WIC and they gave me free formula for the baby but the only thing is that is Similac Advance with Iron. I am scared to give her that and to make the colics come back. The nutricionist and Doctor said that any formula is the same unless is changed from regular formula to soy formula. My question is... (finally!) .... How should I change the formula.... should I just give her the formula right away? or give her one or two bottles a day of the new formula?.... Please help me... I don't know what to do. Thanks.
