When posting an article, use a suitable heading so people browsing know briefly what this discussion is about ie: MonJ doesnt tell anyone that this article is about Circumcision pros and cons, im sure ifyou labelled it properly you would get a better response.Keep that in mind for next time.
Circumcision, dont believe everything you see and hear on the tele they are only opinions, or angles. Be subjective to everything you see and hear on tv. My opinion is this, circumcision is butchery, unless it is a cultural thing, dont do it. There seems to be a phobia about uncircumcised males spreading disease etc, that could be plausible IF . . . . . . They dont wash their c.0.c.k.s properly. So that practice would come from their parents not doing their job and stressing that its important to wash down there properly, OR the male is a filthy pig. This would also apply to one who was circumcised, so the argument nullifies itself. Chicks have flaps and folds down there, should we circumcise them too, because someone has an opinion that it would be more hygienic. I DONT THINK SO! |

Having watched "Sunday Night" with Mike and Natalie regarding "The Unkindest Cut" segment re circumcision, I find some comments are rather doubtful. The pro-circumcision doctor who believes all boys should be circumcised quoted on HIV Aids etc. However, he admits that thirty years ago most boys were circumcised whereas now 15% are done. HIV was discovered in the 1980's. How on earth does he think we believe that uncircumcised boys could be responsible for spreading HIV? The change to non-curcumcisions only came about in the mid to late 1970's and those children are now only in their early to mid thirties. Most of them would not be responsible for the HIV problem. If they consider making circumcision compulsory, they are in fact creating a very sadistic attitude to harming all new born baby boys. This may have been the norm in past generations. However, what real reason is there to perform this debatable surgery?
The only real reason for circumcision is if the outlet for urine is small thus making urinating difficult or if there are recurrent infections under the skin. Mostly circumcision is for religious or ritual reasons rather than medical reasons. Cervical cancer and STD's have been ocurring in older women who are wives of circumcised males so again the quotes do not stack up. |
