Re:sure slim Reply to this message
Hi Sami,
I am gluten intolerant (not coeliac) and I find this program brilliant for us! It is the cleanest, purest program around when followed correctly.
I have had a Coeliac client before, and she and her sister followed the program - believe it or not the Coeliac lost MORE weight than her sister and more consistently. But then again, this was because she was more cautious because of her health issues (she couldn't exactly cheat with cakes and pies etc.).
Sureslim states that the average person should lose about 5 kgs per four weeks, BUT I have seen men lose up to 17kgs per month (these were BIG men with VERY bad diets beforehand, and a lot of fluid retention). I have seen other smaller framed women who exercised regularly lose on the scales 3.5 kgs per month, BUT when we went to measure them, they shrunk INCREDIBLY in centimetres!!! There were some women on the other hand who would lose 7 kgs in a month, yet when you would measure them on a monthly basis, they did not shrink as much as their exercising counterpart. I think that the centimetres and the body fat % are the most important things to be concerned with.
I came to the conclusion that there are those who are shrinkers in cms and those who shrink on the scales. First time around, I was only losing on average about 3 - 3.5kgs per month (mostly because I didn't follow it 100%), but BOY did I shrink! I think from around my stomach I lost 40cm when I had lost 26kgs on the scale.
To answer your question specifically: If you adhere to the program 90 - 100% in the first week, you will be astounded at the weight loss you have - depending on if you you had a very bad diet before starting, or if you are a person who retains a lot of water, if you have a large or small frame: you could lose from 1.5kgs to 8kgs! I have seen it happen before - I have also seen some people lose 0 kgs in their first week ... just make sure you follow the program carefully & drink HEAPS of water to help flush out the junk.

Re:sure slim Reply to this message
Hi Hanna,
I too have a craving for diet soft drinks sometimes (thanks to my pepsi max addicted partner) - i do have a couple of sips every now and then.
Sureslim is always trying to give you the MAXIMUM or OPTIMAL weight loss they can by providing you first with the strictest rules to adhere to. These rules (although you can break them) are there simply to give you the BEST weight loss and the best health overall.
A little info on diet soft drinks and artifical sugar substitutes; they have actually been scientifically proven to create a GREATER insulin release from your body - yes NO SUGAR and NO CALORIES, but your body still reacts as though it HAS had the sugar and calories. What does that mean for your Sureslim program? If you are consuming it between meals you are jeopardising the 5 hour break with stable blood sugar levels, and you may find this hinders optimum weight loss.
In the long term, if taken on a regular basis, aspartame will cause greater concerns for your weight and your health. Not to mention the other health issues that it causes (migraines, brain tumours, cancer, etc). Also, think about the acid content of these drinks - optimum health is obtained when we have a more alkaline diet, and acid-forming foods can cause numerous health issues.
But I think the bottom line is MODERATION.
When I was a Sureslim consultant, the clients I saw who admitted to having their diet coke on a regular basis (i.e. everyday) did not have as fast a weight loss as those who went without. Say for example an average person following the program correctly was losing 1.5kgs a week, the one who had diet drinks regularly would lose about 1 kg per week.
Hope that helps.

Hi again went for my first weigh-in today and I lost 2.5kg I am extremely happy means I'm doing something right. The reason I went back on the program is because I am menopausal have high blood sugar and bad cholesterel all of which suck. Oh well off to a great start and it is great to talk to people who are doing it to. Thanks Jo

Re:sure slim Reply to this message
Hi Jo,
What really is helping me this time around is to make sure at EVERY meal you have a mouthful of protein first, wait a minute or so then continue with your meal. Increase your water intake - that REALLY supresses your appetite. You'll probably also find that at different times of the month you are more hungry than others - sometimes our bodies require more calories (eg. before our periods). Also, I find that when I eat things like cheese, beans or yoghurt, that it does not satisfy me as much as say, chicken, fish, eggs etc. Ask your consultant if you can increase your grammages for a week or so and see if that makes a difference. Never increase your extras like fruit or crispbreads etc. because it may hinder your weight-loss. Keep it up though!

Hi, my name is Jo I have also just restarted sureslim after quite a few years. I also lost a lot of weight the first time around but have unfortunately put a bit back on. I agree that it is the only thing that has worked for me. However it is very strict and I don't remember feeling this hungry last time but I am perservering.

Re:sure slim Reply to this message
Hi Faith, I was looking for people to write to in regards to the Sureslim program, and have only just joined yahoo for this reason. I am RE-STARTING the Sureslim program and have lost about 5.5kgs in 3 weeks, which I am very happy with. I was on the program back in 2002 and lost about 30kgs, and also became a consultant! I have a great deal of knowledge and information about the why's and how's, but in the last few years put the weight back on due to medical reasons and also because I was eating bread when I shouldn't have (I am gluten intolerant). If you or anyone else would like some support or have any questions, I would be very happy to answer them as we all work through this together. The sureslim program is the ONLY thing that has EVER worked for me, and I have been to countless doctors, dieticians, nutritionists, been on various medicines etc ... this is IT! This is the one program that can really assist those who are resistant to losing weight (particularly those who have Syndrome X/Metabolic Syndrome/Insulin Resistance). I find that even if you follow the program 80% of the time, you will still lose bodyfat, but if you follow it 100%, you will get OPTIMUM fat loss. Anyway, drop me a line. Good luck everyone!

Re:sure slim Reply to this message
The reason why you shouldn't have gum on the Sureslim Program, is because when you chew gum, it causes your blood sugar levels to rise. The whole key to the weight loss program is to keep blood sugar levels STABLE so that your body can begin to release Human Growth Hormone, and Serotonin (2 key hormones that assist effective fat loss). Every single tip or "RULE" in the sureslim program is created so that you have the most stable blood sugar levels, and so that you can have the most effective fat loss. My way around the chewing gum thing, is to have it immediately after the meal (say, if you have had onions), and then spit it out shortly after. if you are worried about bad breath, see if you can find Liquid Chlorophyll from the health food store - it tastes like mint, but has the added advantage of TOTALLY cleansing/deodorising your body INTERNALLY (when taken with water regularly). You are allowed to have that on the program. Chlorophyll can also be used as a mouth wash, plus it is VERY good for you. Hope that helps!

Re:sure slim Reply to this message
well done fiona, i too would love to have my muscle, but i just don't like gyms, and working out.
i don't want to look like mrs swartenegar.
but yeh eating properly looking after myself and walking at least an hour per day. I too have improved no end, loosing weight and feeling greatttttttttt.
Even though i'm a diabetic, but i have it well under control. and eating more fish seems to help.
but also i found out having a good iodine level in your body helps with weight loss.
but its always good to check with your doctor to do the appropriate test for this.
i used to have muscle soreness, wasn't sleeping.
thats all changed now. cheers people.

My cravings for chocolate stopped almost straight away - i guess really it changed my life, made me happy and I am a better mum a better wife, well that is what my family say anyway!! It teaches you how to be lean for life.

Re:sure slim Reply to this message
Hi
I am new to the board.I started Sure slim in late February and have lost 26kgs so far. Another 17 to go! My hubby did it with me although he wasn't very overweight. He had a bit
of a paunch and has lost 12kgs. His BMI is now 22 and he actually lost two much weight but he has now been able to stabilise at a good weight. We are still on sure slim but he just eats a little more to sustain his weight.
I haven't found it hard to stick to and when I get to my goal weight I will stay eating the same way but using the maintenance diet. Once a week we "reward" "treat" ourselves and buy a chocolate frog when we do the main shopping.
Regards Jean

That's fantastic Tracey.
That's a great wek 2 loss. Well done! Week 3 weigh in tomorrow?

I've nearly done 5 days of it now and am used to it and not thinking about food all the time anymore which is such a relief. It was so draining.

Are you on yahoo messenger? Do you check this yahoo email? We could go online and chat?

Yes it's so much easier when you plan your meals and have everything on hand. I'm going to Melb for a few days and am bit worried about my food. I'll take my seeds and some tins of tuna. Not sure what else? Can't really take eggs on the plane haha. I have a few weeks to think about it.

Hi Julia
My second weigh in was 1.8kg so I was pretty happy with that as well. It is really hard to be organized and have all of the food available but i have found that i am not hungry at all so that is good! Good luck with your new start.

Hi Tracey
How was your week 2 weigh in on Thurs? 3.25kg is a great start. Fantastic! Was it really hard? First day always hard, after that you know you can survive.

I started (again) today. It wasn't happening last week. I'm going to have heaps more vegies than what they say to have and fill up on that.

Re:sure slim Reply to this message
Hi julia
My program is no different I dont think. You can increase the grammage of veges and protein if you need to-it depends on the level of exercise but i haven't needed to as yet. Yes still have 3 meals and 5 hr break. I lost 3.25 kg in the first week which was motivating. I started 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I have weigh in Thursday as i have to work the next two days. Not too sure how i will go as i had night duty last week and although i did not eat anymore i actually missed meals and the timing was all out of wack. Oh well time will tell. let me know how you go.
Tracey :)
