Re:Optifast Reply to this message
I am on day 4 and the fuzziness i felt in my head on the first few days has gone and I am tracking ok. I have stuck to the optifast plan 100% as I know it is only for 3 weeks (Met my son in Sydney today and cheated with a small carrot, celery and spinach juice but deducted from my veggies tonight to make up for it). Try the bars - they are good too - i like the berry crunch and cappachino. Looks like you are on for 3 weeks too. I think you just need to focus on the op - any weight loss in these 3 weeks (which there deffinately will be) is a bonus. Then there will be no looking back. (Saw an old friend at the shops at the weekend and he had dropped 50Kg - he stood next to me for ages to see how long it would take me to recognise him - and it was ages...)

Re:Optifast Reply to this message
Hi. Miso soup is a clear soup made with Soy and dried veggies (i think). You will find it in the asian food section at Coles. I bought 2 packets yesterday but have not tried it yet. However, the diet jelly is great and really nice with the Optifast Lemon creme dessert. A lady across the road told me she loved the choc mousse when she was on Optifast.

I have been adding my veggies to a packet of Optifast soup and it makes the soup tasty and filling. You could add the veggies to Miso and then you would have saved enough for an Optifast dessert at the same time.

All the best for your op on the 11th. If you want to know more about lapbanding check out "lapband vlogs" on youtube. There are some amazing video journals which are very encouraging.

Can you please tell me what miso soup is, and where can I get it from. I have never heard of it.

koolkats82 : it's not recommended you be on Optifast when pregnant - unless very strictly supervised by your doctor.

Re:Optifast Reply to this message
Thanks for the encouragement. I am on Day 3 now and going ok. This morning was tough as I did my 30 min walk straight after my Strawberry shake and was then out of the house until lunch time. Forgot to take my water with me and was feeling pretty light headed and fuzzy by the time i got home. Luckily the yummy cappachino bar straightened me out.

Tonight I had 2 generous cups of veggies cooked with some soy sauce. I am planning a lemon creme desert later with some diet jelly but saving that in case i get hungry later.

I have stuck to regime to the letter so far which is pleasing. I am shooting for 10kg over 3 weeks and then I am going for lapband to lose 30kg more.

As it looks like I am the only man on this forum (apologies if that is not correct) I am happy to provide feedback from a man's perspective.

Thanks again for your encouragement.

Re:Optifast Reply to this message
Hey Guy's
I have been reading these posts with interest. I looking at starting optifast but I wanna make sure I know all the facts. I know with Tont Furg it's not advised to be on it while you're pregnant or trying to be, but does anyone know if the same applies with optifast? I'm 158cm and I wieght around 110kgs. (I'm ashamed to say) So I have a good 45kgs to lose. I guess my current wieght is no good for pregnancy either. :)
Any thoughts would be helpful.
Cheers

Re:Optifast Reply to this message
hiya , just started my 3rd day on the intense optifast progam. ive been going ok, not hungry until i got to late last night.I fought off the munchies with an apple and tomato on crackers. The problem is I'm a night owl, as I work 3 nights a week not normally going to bed till around midnight, so when the 2 kids (two boys 1 & 4) and my husband go to bed its just me and the thoughts of wanting something yummy. UhOh....But other than that slight hic cup I think Im doing quite well cant wait to weigh in next monday. Talk soon. xx

Re:Optifast Reply to this message
Hey guys,

All those just starting out hang in there. The first few days can be really hard as your body detoxes and goes into ketosis, which is the key to shedding the kilos with optifast.

Depending on weight/age/water drunk/extras/etc it is common to loose anything up to 5kg in the first week, but you really have to stick with the basic intensive phase and drinking at least 2 litres of water a days is a must.

I started at an extremely high weight but I did shed over 40kg in just over 6 months on intensive Opti so I know it does work.

Just hang in there and stick with it as closely as you can.

Pyretta

Re:Optifast Reply to this message
Well we all human and we do like it the easy way. Day one was a complete waste and i dont think i shoudl even count it. I had the shake for breakie and by the time it was 11am i was home in bed as i looked sick - well now i know it was the headache and fuzzy feeling. in the afternoon i went crazy and had a snack pack (fast food) - but trust me when i got to bed i hated myself for cheating and hope it wont occur again. today is Day 2 and its now 4.48pm and my stomach is yearning for something. i have done good today brekkie(vanilla shake) 10 am (an apple) lunch (choc bar) 3pm (carrot and Celery) dinner will be a shake and boy i cant wait to wake up tomoro and say day oen done( recall i cheated yesterday so today is actually day 1) wish me luck. thats if i get any sleep

Hi. This is my first posting. I am on day 2 of Optifast. I want to lose 10Kg in 3 weeks pre lapband op which I think is doable - not going too bad today although head does feel a bit fuzzy - hopefully that will not last too long. I find all the posts encouraging. Lapband op is 8/12 so need all the encouragement i can get. :0)

Re:Optifast Reply to this message
Hey, I started optifast 2 months ago but my heart wasnt into it. I got a major wake up call when my current clothes werent fitting right and i realised my weight was slow n steadily going up even more. Im starting 2day on the optifast program and i actually want to do it so hopefully ill go okay. My starting weight is 74.8kgs and my first goal is to lose 5 kgs. i think its better to think of mini goals so the major one doesnt seem so untouchable. So here i go hopefully ill get to 69.8 kgs as goal number one. Doing weights and an exercise dvd tonight. Does anyone know how long it could take to lose 5kgs on the program?? Im hoping this week i could lose 2kgs and next week i could lose another 2 so about 3-4weeks to lose the 5kgs does that sound normal for my weight range??

Re:Optifast Reply to this message
well. I started optifast on thursday and have been going ok. I have been supposed to be on intensive but the past two ights have not been good. i have had two functions on which has meant that i have been eating dinner and birthday cake (small piece)!

Today I have just had a slad as i slept in (late night last night) and wil be having a shake for dinner. I am going to try and run before it rains. by goal this week (by thursday morning) is at least two kilos minimum!!!

i have no excuse for the nxt five nights from today up until saturday night as i wil have a drinks night saturday. well i think i will be have a few drinks but i wont have dinner. i will meet my friends for drinks..not dinner.

so if can do the next six days intensive with saldads and coffee i will be very pleased. it will kick start my diet too!!

My week is very intense with thesis and placements etc so the only time i have to binge is during the evenings or when i am buying lollies for the children i do therapy with. (AH Snakes...the kids love them and so do I)!

Well good lulck to all and kepe it going! All the best peoples were all in it together!

congratulations mikrisla!!

i haven't weighed myselfcoz i want to wait two weeks ... but i measured myself and i've lost between 3 - 5 cm's on all my body parts ... except my tummy - only lost 2cm :(

willing_explorer : yup you can add two cups of vegies that are on the allowed list or you can make a salad ... You're also allowed to have miso and diet jelly but check with your dietician or doctor ...

if you visit https://www.optifast.com. au/ there is a forum there and heaps of information as well ..
