I'm thrilled to say that I've lost 7 kilos over 8 weeks I've got one more month of pills remaining & will continue to take them until finished.
While I am happy with my weight reduction I am by no means HAPPY WITH THE FACT THAT I AM HAVING EXTREME DIFFICULTY SLEEPING.
Has anyone else had this problem? *Yawns*
I don't understand why people would put the weight back on so quickly? |

| I used Reductil for a couple of months and my symptoms included a very dry mouth and constipation. The constipation got so bad that I devoloped haemorhoids. I lost 7kg but as soon as I stopped taking the tablets the weight came back on. It was a very expensive experiment that caused me some health problems. If you are not overweight, why is your doctor prescribing you with pills that are usually prescribed to obese patients? |

| hi, i tried reductil last year for about 8 dyas and it immediately made me feel full and not want to oevereat, but i had a really dry mouth and severe headaches which i've never had before or since. i was nervous so i stopped taking it. my sister at the same time took 10 days and had stomach problems and couldn't sleep and didnt get her period for three months after stoppping ( she has always been regular) so i would stay away from reductil. i just got a book called the do-able diet (google it) and it sound s very commonsense and stress free so i'm going to give that a go. good luck |

hi.
I only took Reductil for one day, and 4 hours after taking it I collapsed at work, with what I later learnt was a full blown panic attack (had never had one before).
I didn't take any the next day and was ok-ish.
The third day I took a dose and again had a full blown attack in the middle of a massive shopping centre.
This is just my experience.

I have been suffering from a sever panic and anxiety disorder for almost 3 years. Have been on Cipralex (an anti-dep.) for a year and 1/2 and have been slowly coming off them. i have been off them now for 4 weeks and have been prescribed Reductil to help lose the weight the Cipralex made me gain. But I'm afraid that Reductil will cause me to relapse due to its effects.
I've had conflicting advice. GP said there should be no problem. Therapist said there's no point risking relapse of anxiety/panic attacks. Dietician said she's never heard of it causing panic attacks before and it might actually help me...
not sure what to do - if I try it for one day to see how it makes me feel will it be that quick to make any difference or does it take a while for symptoms to pop up? Also, if Reductil does indeed help with the anxiety/panic, then when i come off Reductil will it be like coming of Anti-deps (i.e. withdrawal and possible relapse?)
Thanks for your help and advice, I really appreciate it! |

Chrissy,
For every kilo of fat that your body holds, it attacts and retains a kilo of water. So per kilo you lose, half of its fat, the other half fluid. Unless you are pre-menstrul, and then you tend to hold a little more fluid.
Good luck! |

ok, as a nurse i will simplify any ketosis based diet. It starves your body of the fuel it needs to live. Diabetics who are in ketosis, eventually go into a coma. And its dangerous and difficult to monitior unless you test your urine with dipsticks on a DAILY BASIS.
And furthermore, even if you do manage to drop the 5kilos you say is JUST DROPPING OFF, as soon as you start to eat carbohydrates again, because you have starved your body of them, your body will pretty much deposit any carb you eat on as fat.
KETOSIS based diets are DANGEROUS.
DO NOT GO THERE CHRISSY |

maybe a kilo a week, at most 3 i would imagine. less if you are not overweight
the plan is that you stay on reductil for about 6-10 months.
so to lose a few kilos fast i would suggest optifast instead? u can usually lose 3 kgs in a week and up to 5 or 6 in a week. I have lost 6 before... hard but it works. |

hi Chrissy.
I did try reductil, but I had a very bad experience. It gave me severe panic attacks. I am a nurse and I collapsed at work on my ward. If you are rather overweight, as you may well be if your doctor prescribed Reductil, I would suggest having a look at the lapband board.
I'm 26, and have been overweight all of my life. I have only 11 days ago had a lap-band put it. I already know its going to mean i am of a healthy weight for the rest of my life.
Its worth looking at if your weight has been a big issue for you in the past.

Hey Chrissy,
Ive been on reductil u will lose weight with it however it doesnt supress ur appetite or anything it just helps u not absorb any fat. If u do eat any FAT it will pass through u when u go to the toilet. I dont remember how good it was in reducing weight as i it doesnt come off staright away. Im trying something called DUROMINE now this is a pill u take in the morning and it supresses ur appetite and doesnt make u feel hungry. Problem with pills is u have too keep taking them i stopped taking reductil and the weight came back on.
good luck with it though...
