Re:Syndrome X Reply to this message
Syndrome X is a metabolic syndrome that usually runs in families. It is sometimes refered to as "pre-diabetes". It is associated and/ or worsened by a sedentary lifestyle and being overweight . It is somewhat like the chicken and the egg scenario, however, in that did the syndrome or the weight issue come first and cause or aggrivate the other.

Only a doctor can diagnose you with Syndrome X but some of the hallmarks of the disease are

High triglycerides
Waist measurement over 40" for men and 35" for women
Angina without Coronary artery blockage ( surmised via cardiac echo and other diagnostic tools)
Glucose intolerance ( surmised by blood assay)/ Insulin resistance
elevated blood pressure ( 130/80 though the diastolic of 80 is a bit high for my liking)

Losing weight and becoming more active are some preventative measures you can take to control Syndrome X and pevent the development of Diabetes and cardiac disease.
