Re:problems after Lap Band Reply to this message
I had my lap band done in March 2008 and have lost a substantial amount of weight. I went from 319 to 258 right now. I would say thats almost too much but not sure. Anyways, I recently went and got a fill done and I guess I'm up to like 6.4 cc's. I did everything i was suppose to first 48 hours liquids next day soft foods and after that back to reg. foods. In the mornings I do a protein shake, chewable multivitamin, and 2 tablespoons of amino acids (helps with loose skin). for lunch i have a small portion of whatever I am eating and for dinner I seem to have problems keeping much down. Well tonight shortly after eating i felt a slight pang in the region of my left rib cage. I asked my wife (whose a nurse) what the issue might be and she said that, that is the area where my stomach is and might have some swelling. Has anyone else noticed this? I also had referred pain the week before in my lower back and cured that by drinking lots of water (suppose I was dehydrated. If anyone has any insight lemme know

Re:problems after Lap Band Reply to this message
I ran across your message and have no idea what symptoms you were responding to someone about. Could you fill me in on that, please? I am a long time user of all Miracle II products, but I suspect you are using it differently than I have had experience with. I had Lap-Band Jan. of 2006 and have kept 65 pounds of weight gone since the end of 2006. Band is still not at the maximum tightness and I am wanting to loose about 40 more pounds. Am having burping and reflux for the first time since last fill. I suspect I am part of the problem by eating too late. I'm changing that habit as the results are awful! Love to hear your Miracle II/Lap-Band story! Thanks!

Re:problems after Lap Band Reply to this message
I was banded July 2004 @ 132kg size 24-26... I lost 60kg and landed at 72kg size 12.. I was over the moon and confidence shot up 200%..

2006/07 i had a slippage and gained weight landing me at 89kg.. I was rebanded in November 2007.. I have the new band in which is much more gentle but slower. I have dropped to 87.6kg as of a fortnight ago. which isnt much in 7months. makes me feel a little depressed and my 200% confidence has dropped heaps..

I have just started optifast today to help me a little more until my band is at the right adjustment.. I go back to the clinic on the 30th June so will know if it helped or not..

Re:problems after Lap Band Reply to this message
I had the procedure in Aug 2005. It has been wonderful. I was the same build as you 5'8' 225. I have been 137-144 for over 2 years, that is over 80lb loss. I am able to eat more than I was right after I got the procedure but not as much as before the LB. I was not a "grazer" before but when I ate I ate alot. If you are a "grazer" you might find it harder to keep off the weight, as I have found with may of my friends that have had any type of weight loss surgery. Hope you decided to have it done with a great doctor, that makes all the difference in the world.

Re:problems after Lap Band Reply to this message
I have had a lap band, and it has been a complete success. I am very happy I have lost about 26kg. I still have problems eating a variety of things but meat can be really difficult. You need to eat very small quantities of very tender meat. Yes there can be problems with burping it is usually a signal that the band is starting to clear, when there is a blockage your own saliva becomes a problem because you tend to salivate more to help move the blockage, if it gets that bad you need to regurgitate the blockage and that means coughing it up. I suggest you may need to see another doctor, I have been very happy with my people at the Bariatric Clinic in the Avenue Windsor. Hope this helps.

Re:problems after Lap Band Reply to this message
I was banded 4/17/07. My questions are: Does anyone have pain in your left shoulder, after eating? Does anyone have trouble eating meat? Does anyone have trouble burping? Does anyone have trouble swollowing their own saliva after eating. I lost 30# after surgery, because I could not eat; sometimes drink. 14 months out, they took all the fluid out to let my stomach heal & rest. I have 1.5 in a 4cc band & it's too tight, again. I have gained all my weight back & I am so disappointed that I could scream.
This was suppost to be a walk in the park. Instead it is an unending nightmare.
I would NOT recommend Lap Band to anyone.

Re:problems after Lap Band Reply to this message
Please contact me, I have been trying to decide whether to have my band removed, I am a little frightened by it. But I am so tired of throwing up constantly and staying fat that I am about ready, I wanted to talk to someone who has had it done.

Re:problems after Lap Band Reply to this message
Don't do it!! I am 4 years out, I have gained the almost 50 lbs I lost back and I puke almost every day!! I did everything I was told to do and still throw up. I am now trying to find out information about having it removed, though they say it is reversible, the doctor I have has only removed a few which makes me nervous. Please, just go to the gym, burn more than you eat, you'll lose weight!!

Re:problems after Lap Band Reply to this message
Hi there,
I had my band in 18 April 2008, the pain in the port area lasted for two weeks, then very quickly I recovered. bbjimbeam, allow yourself time to heal and dont get depressed about it, it is only for a little while and then after your first fill you will start to see some great results, my hubby said I was beautiful today and he has not said that in a good while. Remember you have had surgery and it will take time to heal. Try to remember why you had it done and invisage yourself a year from now, thin and healthy and feeling great. Lorraine

Re:problems after Lap Band Reply to this message
I had the lapband over a year ago iwas exactly 100lbs overweight even thought i didn't look it i have had good success with the lapband and have lost 53lbs so far(rather slow then fast so my skin has time to stay up not be flabby) and now i have a problem with it and seem to have to go back in for surgery the manufacturer is really helpful but my doctor has been not so helpful so make sure if you do decide to have the lapband done that you research the doctor and make sure he really cares about his patients i have not yet had my surgery for the part that needs to be fixed but it is coming soon and i have to pay for it then wait for results on what is wrong with it. but i can tell you that if i had to do it all over again i still would have it done when it works it really works...hope that help.

Re:problems after Lap Band Reply to this message
Hi I had my lap band done in December of 2005 so I have had it more than 2 years. I have had a few minor problems but I would do it again in a heartbeat. My brother is having more severe problems but it seems to me that a lot of the problems are caused by not having your band loosened when you are having problems and need to have it adjusted. My last two visits to the fill clinic have been for loosening. The last time I went on a trip and my band bothered me the whole time. Once I had the band loosened it was instant relief. I had tried to live with it by eating around the tightness which meant Ice cream, chocolate milk, and other things like candy bars and stuff that goes down really easy. This of course halts the weight loss. If you get the band loosened, you can eat more of the healthier stuff and either maintain pretty well or even lose weight. Just be sensible. We have lap bands because we don't have self control and have an addiction to food. It only makes sense that a lot of people have trouble with it because they are being forced to give up what has been their best friend. The lap band works great but you will not be able to eat like you do now. We all have to learn to deal with the reasons that we do the emotional eating, and find some other healthy way to fill the void that not being able to eat for comfort leaves. I know that a lot of people have real medical problems that come from this procedure, and it definately isn't for everybody. Good Luck. Bunny lost 70 lbs.

Re:problems after Lap Band Reply to this message
AFTER 30 YEARS OF YO YO DIETING AN GETTING NOW NO AT 60 YRS I HAD MY LAP BAND DONE,

hAD NO PROBLEMS BEEN DONE 5 YEARS NOW DROPPED 45 KILLOS and my health is now excellent ,blood pressure down to normal, no sugar diab anymore even my thyroid medication has halfed since i lost my weight ;
I have more energy and am able to do so much more.

But in saying that it not just a quick fix, it is a new way of life and efects everyone differently ,

Meat is hard to digest you can never ever pig out again fizzy drinks are very hard to digest,

You must train yoursely never to drink while eating it fills the stomache too quickly, chew all food well before swallowing, if you eat too much in spicy food or onions you will get indigestion or wind from the other end,

When eating yr meal pick out a little of all the stuff you really like first cause bread rice noogle and salad fill up the holw quickly pause between eating and if you start feeling really leave the meal for a few minutues and come back to it

I couldn't be happier but it's not just a matter of of having the band and everthing is normal because now you are thin .there are changes you have to make to yr life style but I feel were well worth it

hello,
I had my band back in nov 2007, so far it's been ok, I have had throwing up, but not to to much. The one thing that does scare me, is kind of choking when I sleep, I always make sure I sit up to drink a sip of water. But I'm interested to know what kind of long term side effects you have come up with, please let me know
Thanks!!jtrit1@hotmail.co m

Re:problems after Lap Band Reply to this message
Hi there: I can tell lots about Lab-band; Had done in June 05 dropped 120 pounds, surgery done in Ormond Bch FL, Great Doc! Looked really good, from 225- to 118 pounds, a 18 womens went down to a size 4 ! no bull! I am 33 now. This was 2 yrs ago. Had all the same issues...tightened...too much, vomiting, lactic reflux..more vomiting...in the end I got so thin because I could not eat that eventhe doctor openedit all the way. ...then I went up 20 pounds and looked healthy but then was near 137...I stayed there for about 9 months...then I was stupid and decided to have my second baby (first one is 13) I got divorced same year as the operation) then after great sucess in weight loss..party..party party girl...met a guy from Ecuador that got me pregnant even thou I had T-coil, got pregnant( band was fully opened by my DOC) original start of pregnancy weight at 140 and balloned up to 207 the night before I had her on September 10 -07 this past year...now I am 168 and had one fill since the pregnancy and having an awful time daily...I vomit daily 5-8 times, can barely eat...and I am loosing weight because I don eat...and to answer your question my heart beats fast anytime I get food stuck, vomit, or have food slowly going down the pipe! BUT!! I want to get down again to my weight thus I suffer, I probably slipped the band out of place and don't know it..., lots of reflux and rapid heart beat...but I endure this to loose the pregnancy weight again...Oh and the guy From Ecuador...after knowing him for almost 2 years...well I wish I had never met the guy! he still around making my life miserable...but I will get down again onthe weight thin real soon!
Hopes this helps anyone!
