| hi guys, just to let everyone know , everybody is different so if you only lose 1 kg in two weeks thats fine everyones body works differentley , if u can manage to lose 2 - 3 kg a week to start then your losing fluid the weight loss will slow. also for thos that are on the tablets & who have started exercise & working out , your weight loss may be minimal or u may gain as this is muscle , i started the gym and have only lost 4 kg by my whole body shape has changed & ive lost over a dress size! the reds work well but when on them for to long they dont work ive had to take a break and i put on 3 kg ( but i was eating really terribly ) emotional eating, ive started them again & my appetite has decreased thank god .... i just wanted to say to people if you want to keep the weight of try not to lose more than 1 - 1.5 kg per week any more than that & its not good for your body & you wont be able to maintain it ! goodluck all hope this helps |

| Hi Helen.. I must say that 52kg for 161cm sounds a bit drastic. I am 155cm and would love to be around 53kg. So I have about 10kg or 11kg to go. Have you checked a proper height/weight chart? There are loads online. |

Hi marielouise and all here,
I have upped my exercise routine. I am def not a morning person and love hitting my snooze button many times before I have to get up. BUT for the past 3 days I've been ejecting myself out of bed at 5.15am to go out for an hour's power walking!! I thought it would shock my system into losing some more weight, but not losing much. I thought it could be muscle weight, but my clothes aren't fitting me better either. So my results so far aren't very encouraging. Maybe have lost about 3kg in 2 weeks.
Another thing I've noticed is that when I first started on the Reds 10mg two weeks ago, I never used to get hungry. But yesterday and today I've been getting hungry mid-morning and mid-afternoon at work, just like before. Hmm.. maybe because of the exercise? I'm still eating same as before, but trying smaller portions and have totally cut out sweets, chocs, cookies, cakes, etc. I need to see some good results soon because bikini-buying time is lurking in the near future! |

Hi Gabrielle
It's pretty normal to experience headaches when starting out, so don't worry that much. Try taking the meds as early as possible before 7am, drink lots of water. I am on the low GI diet as well which then helps with constipation as the diet forces me to eat a lot of fibre eg. high fibre breakfast cereal, muesli etc and a lot of fruit grapes, banana etc. Today is my 3rd day and I have lost 1kg already, I am a bit concerned though as the rapid weight loss, but I absolutely welcome it. (hope it stays off). I do hope all goes well. |

Hi!
It's been 20 hours since i started on the 10 reds.
I'm 161cm tall and i've been told i need to weigh 52 to be healthy :( that sounds like a ridiculous amount to lose (20 kilos), considering.
Anyone else think their recommeded weight is a bit far fetched? |

Hi Nisreen
I wish I was 75kg Im 99 and simply refuse to hit 100. If I hit 100 I'll be rocking in a corner.
Ive just started on the 15mg this week so hopefully they'll kick in soon.
On top of my 6 gym sessions a week Im running now and taking a cycle class. Im gettin me a permanent carpark at the gym and I refuse to not loose weight.
Keep in touch and let us know how you go on the 15s.
Cheers x |

Hi Gabrielle,
The headaches could be due to detoxification, very common in the early stages of a diet, especially since you upped your water intake. Same happens to me everytime I start a diet and drinking more water. Don't worry, they are only temporary. And if it's any consolation I too am losing weight very slowly indeed. This is my second week and because I have two weighing scales which give me two different readings, I can only approximate that I've lost about 3kg in total since starting Reductil (10mg, blue & yellow, prescribed by doc). I can't believe how slowly it's coming off, because am doing everything by the book. Am waking up at 5.15am every morning to go power-walking for an hour before work, and am sticking to diet. Imagine, this afternoon my mum and daughter wanted to go to KFC and I just sat with them, gazing into space. I didn't sneak a french fry. I didn't even want a salad, because I can't eat it without dressing, and the dressings in takeaways, contain loads of calories. I think it's an age thing (am 37) because I remember being able to lose weight much faster when I was younger. It's most frustrating. But what can you do? Just keep going. I imagine that gradually it will come off, otherwise that's just defying basic science. Can only wait and see. |

| hi i have being on reductil 2days now and i have really bad headaches but i am drinking alot of water so not sure why that is but i did notice u have to have twice the amount of water u would normally be drinking when on these tablets our else you will be constipated , but my sister is also on them and she lost 5pounds in 5 days and never really have any problems when on them, she was also on them before and she lost a stone in just 3weeks so it depends on the person i think some people lose the weight alot faster then others but it does work it just might take that little more time for some, just going back to your question now u should never have an empty stomach when taking fiber cause you will be getting really sick otherwise. |

| Hi All! My name is Reneilwe and have just started taking Reds today. I took it early in the morning around 6am. I am not sure what symptoms I should look out for, however I am feeling a little lightheaded and tired. I am hoping for good results obviously. I am on a low GI diet hence hope to lose weight. Is there anyone with a success story? |

| Hi again ksimmons.. just a thought.. but could it be that you are detoxifying your body? I know because this happens to me sometimes. When I start watching what I eat, reducing caffeine, and especially drinking lots of water, I start to experience flu-like or cold-like symptoms. I looked it up and found that this is perfectly normal and better still, temporary, until the body flushes out a lot of the toxins polluting it. Headaches are also very common at this stage too, together with needing to blow your nose frequently. You might want to check with your doctor about this, because it could be just detoxification in process. Hope this helps and that you feel better really soon! |

hey tignebabe,
thanx for the reply. Im still not sure why I am tired I dont drink any caffeine, i dont drink anything other than water and i drink about 3 litres of water a day. So really confused about that.. another thing too is that every time i start to exercise i get sick, it happens every time. i get the flu or a virus or something after a week of exercising, i dont understand why and either does my doctor. last week after starting to exercise i got tonsilitis. So im unsure when to start again as i cant afford to be sick again and have more time off work.. so not sure what to do?? |

| Hi Ksimmons, 2kg in 2 weeks is just about right. Ideally you should be aiming to lose a kg a week. The slower the weight comes off, the easier it will be to maintain long-term. Besides, given your data, your BMI is in the top end of the normal range, therefore not overweight, so you can expect to lose slower. However, I know the feeling of wanting fast results very well!! Don't we all LOL..I am exactly like you, and get very impatient that all the hard work reaps very slow results, so I'm retraining my attitude, to be more patient. It's all about taking it one day at a time. If I dwell on just how long it's going to take me to lose the weight, I just feel like giving up. I'm trying to make small changes here and there, hoping that eventually it will all add up. For example, if I'm tempted to eat something sinful, I have to stop and ask myself, "How is this going to help me achieve my goal? Is this going to impede my progress?" Same with exercise. We have to make it fun, in order not to lose interest. If the weather is fine, I look forward to listening to my iPod while walking. If stuck inside, I stick on a good dvd while on my crosstrainer. The Reds have helped tremendously in helping me limit my portion sizes too. In my case, the Reds are also giving me loads of energy. Maybe your tiredness is due to some other factor? Do you take lots of caffeine? You might just need to detox a bit and drink more water. |

hey all..
well I was on reductil 10mg for two weeks and had my weigh in I expected to have lost a lot, though was dissapointed as I only lost 2 kg in 2 weeks.. I was 69.5 and am now 67.5 at 163cm tall!
my doctor asked me how much i wanted to lose, and i said i would like to get down to 55kg, he said that would be too skinny and 60kg would be more realistic.. so that is my goal for now to get to 60kg and go from there!
I dont understand why I only lost 2kg though?? my doctor thinks it is because i am almost in my healthy weight range and losing that last bit is the hardest.
After 2 weeks of being on 10mg i still did not feel the energy affect of the reductil that everyone talks about so i started on the 15mg. I have been on 15mg for 3 days and still really tired and no energy! i find this very strange.. has anyone else had similar experiences?? |

Okies had my first weight at my doctors today. Its been 3 1/2 weeks and I lost 8kg. I'm really happy with that even though i had a gain in one of those weeks. Maybe I should just take it over the month and not week to week. I still have a load to loose but its a good start I reckon. My doctor kept me on 10s. While they are working stay with them. I'll keep 15s up my sleeve for a later date.
Goodluck everyone. |

Hi.. I got myself new weighing scales and at least now am getting a consistent reading every time I go up and down. On them, this morning, I weigh 64.3kg, a whole kilo less than my old ones showed yesterday. This may sound like a cheat, but I'm going to take this as my new weight and take it from there. From now on I'll check my weight on these scales and throw my old ones away. What do you guys think? Cheating??
Anyway, whatever the reading on scales is, I won't stop until I get back into my old jeans. Marielouise I too do the same thing! I keep the jeans out where I can see them and everytime I pass them it reinforces my resolve to get back into them.
I didn't do too badly at last night's party - I ate very little and allowed myself 2 small glasses of punch, with several glasses of water in between. I was going to drive too, so couldn't drink much anyway.
During this long weekend I really want to do lots of exercise, also to make up for not having done any yesterday. Am aiming for an hour's walking every day, but not just straight walking - my partner mapped out a really tough trail involving lots of uphills (in Pembroke). If I do it every day for the next four days I'm sure to burn lots of calories!
As for incentives, besides getting back into my jeans, which is the biggest incentive of all, I have my cousin's wedding on April 25th and of course all my family will be there; I would like to wear a dress I had last worn back in 2006, the Year of Slim Me, but I'm afraid that if I wear it now people will think I'm pregnant because of its particular cut and my rather prominent tummy!
Another great incentive is that I'm off on holiday to London at the end of May and I really want to buy myself a few new summer clothes, especially a couple of new bikinis! However right now the thought of trying on swimwear terrifies me. Still far from beach-worthy! |
