Well don't. instead focus all your upset and and annoyance at getting these tablets and changin your life. Believe me I have a long way to go at least another 6 stone, probably more when i get there. but im just focusing on that. xxx

Oh stop it now ur making me jealous thinking about the sun in Malta ha ha . We can all succeed if we keep at it.

Well that doctor had no rite to do that to you because at the end of the day drugs like reductil wouldn't be available unless ppl struggled would they. Can't stand ignorant people like that.
One thing i would say though is don't tell you're new doctor that you're down about your weight because they won't prescribe them to someone they suspect has depression just say that its affecting your quality of lofe you cant do the things you want to etc. Thankfully i have an amazing Dr who understood completely where i was coming from and i walked out with the prescription there and then. I ve been on them just over 2 weeks now and at my 2nd week weigh in i'd lost 1st 2lbs which is good, but everyones different and it depends what weight you are to start with etc.xx

I hope your right Sarah. I went doctors about a month ago asking for some serious help as its really affecting my life and my relationship to an extent ;) And the doctor was aful, said there is no excuse for not being able to lose weight regardless of money etc and she said I was looking for an easy way out, I came out crying and devasted :( Since then I have moved to another area and in the process of registering with a new doctor. Someone else I know of has started the reductil and has lost 56lbs (4st 6lbs) in 8 weeks!! which is truely amazing, so I was very eager with being extremely over weight myself!

Hi Sarah,
I guess you should be aiming for around 1000 calories a day. If you're doing regular exercise, the odd bit extra won't really dent your efforts, but for an active lifestyle I think 6-700 is a bit too little.

I feel pretty good today. Today was a national holiday here in Malta so no work! I spent the entire morning doing pretty heavy housework. Then in the afternoon I went for my usual walk/jog and took my usual route. It was a gloriously sunny spring afternoon, and really enjoyed being out. And when I checked my timing upon my return, I realised that what usually takes me about 55 minutes, today took me about 49 minutes, and that's because I felt much better with jogging and jogged for much longer than I previously could. So at least, fitness and stamina wise I seem to be improving.

Diet so far today was coffee first thing, then a very late breakfast as a break from cleaning - small bowl cereal with Actimel, then a ham salad sandwich at about 4pm. Dinner tonight is going to be a grilled chicken fillet, jacket potato and salad with a bit of olive oil.

I am determined to succeed this time.

Hey Tig no course i don't mind u writing at length! all the info is really good to have!, How many calories do u think i should be aiming to eat then? cos at the minute i think im having about 6-700 a day, which i obviously know an average adult has 2000 but was just thinking whats the point doing that if i want to lose but i know what u mean about the body storing fat as my friend Chloe has told me about this before, But yes we will defo keep each other updated on here. I like reading how everyone else is and what they're finding good or bad Shattered now tho just had a marathon swimming sesh but feel great!

Re the cost of reductil in the uk yeah when you're prescribed by your doctor they normally prescribe you 1 months supply and then u just pay ur 7 pounds 50 or whatever it is chick.xxx

And to the lady wanting to go on Reductil if you explain to your doctor that you've tried countless other things including diets/exercise etc and nothings working and if your BMI's over 25 i don't really see why they wouldn't give them to you?. If you don't ask you don't get babe :-) xxx

Also to the one about alcohol affecting you differently?
My friend brought a bottle of wine on friday nite as a treat and i know exactly where your coming from i can't remember bits of the night (at least i was in the safety of my own home), I was sick and i am NEVER sick from alcohol! ever ha ha. even though i drank no where near to the amount i would before i started the reductil. also on saturday i felt horrendous never before in my life have i felt so weak and dizzy. Won't be doing that again in a hurry!!.
Hope everyone's keeping their chin's up

Tig' I am in the UK indeed,so we have NHS doctors at no charge (well through taxes etc) normally if we are prescribed any medication our charges are a standard £7.50 or somewhere around that amount.

As I have investigated the cost of these I wondered if it meant how our prescriptions work whether it would be different.

Im also worried that my doctor wont allow me to be on it but my BMI is in the high 40's :(

Hi neenin,

Are you in the uk? Here in Malta I was prescribed Reds by my doctor. I obviously had to pay for that medical visit, and then I bought them from the pharmacy. Here they cost around €48 for 28 10mg tablets. That's about £44.45 or US$ 63.56.
Hope this helps.
Best of luck!

Re:Reductil( does it work)?? ne1 know?? Reply to this message
Cont....
My typical day consists of a coffee, then cereal with Actimel instead of milk (it's this yoghurty drink meant to improve yr immune system). Lunch is typically either leftovers from dinner the previous day, or something like a tuna salad or chicken wrap. Dinner is a small portion of whatever I'm making my daughter (who will be 11 this Friday). For example last night we had toasted ham & cheese sandwiches for dinner as I was very bus; she had two, I had one and a teeny bit of soup, whereas before my diet I would have had two for sure. Acknowledge these little tweaks because they're important. It's the long-term changes we make that make all the difference. When you find yourself making different choices, you must acknowledge that. "Hey I used to eat a whole pizza, now I'm only eating half", etc. And also I'm drinking lots of water for the first time in my life. Very important especially on the Reds, which make me very dry and thirsty. That would be one side effect. The other side effects I experience are occasional heart palpitations, and the more annoying one is difficulty sleeping. Last Saturday I experienced my first night awake till 5.30am!! Last night too I had to force myself to sleep. My energy levels are soaring, which is not a bad thing in itself, cos am getting loads done, but at night I need to sleep, and I'm not sleeping enough. Another side effect is constipation, but have started taking Bio3 tea (helps keep you regular) at night and that problem is no more thank goodness. Hope you don't mind have written at length. Let's keep track of our achievements throughout this journey. Remember - any tweak, any change is good. It all adds up. Before you eat anything naughty or are tempted to skip out on exercise, think "How is this going to help me achieve my goal" and keep your goal firmly planted in mind. I find this works a lot.

Re:Reductil( does it work)?? ne1 know?? Reply to this message
Hi Sarah, First of all you should be happy with any weight loss you have achieved. 7.5kg less is a lot better than 7.5kg more isn't it?? Try lifting 7.5kg in groceries or books and you'll be much more impressed I guarantee! Yes it does seem to take forever. We're all in the same boat on this one. But we have to bear in mind that we didn't gain it all in 1 month, so we can't expect to lose it faster than we gained it. Besides, the slower you lose, the easier it will be in the long run to maintain the weight loss. Also it's less stressful on your skin. Weight loss that's too rapid = stretch marks and saggy skin. So keep up with the exercise and you'll be toning as you go along. I once lost a lot of weight very quickly and the minute i stopped dieting it all came back just as quickly and then some! A 7 year old boy, 2 jobs and a house to run + all the added exercise you're putting in sounds like you've got your hands full. On that note, may I add that with all that activity you need to eat a bit more than you're actually eating, because it seems to me that you're not eating much, and that in itself will slow your metabolism. If I were you I'd try having a bit more for lunch. Have a salad and a piece of chicken or a couple of slices of ham with that jacket. If vegetarian, have a salad and some cottage cheese and your jacket potato. The body is like a sensitive intelligent machine. If it senses no food or little food coming its way, it thinks there must be a famine or you are in some kind of survival mode, and will store the fat and burn it as slowly as possible in order for you to survive. Eat more and it thinks, "Ok, the food is coming, we're not starving, we're not trying to stay alive, let's speed up the process." It's very simple. Plus you need to maintain your energy levels if you're exercising and leading the active life you do. And that is why you're feeling a bit tired.

Hi All

I am wondering if anyone has had any unusual experiences drinking alcohol on the reds?

I would like to acknowledge that I am aware that drinking alcohol are empty calories and not conducive to losing weight, however I seem to have had some very odd experiences that happen everytime I drink:
** Massive black out of memory for several hours of the night
** Not having a hangover the following day
** Behaving in a unusual way- not a drunk way but behaving recklessly and not being mindful of safety
** The effects of alcohol seem to come on quicker than normal

I realise that weight loss can make you less of a drinker but this doesn't explain the other weird side effects. I would normally admit I drank too much hence why I can't remember but I know I haven't as I drank from the same bottle all night and no hangover indicates a low level of alcohol consumption which is also evident in the level still in the bottle

I would be interested in hearing your experiences.

So far I have lost 10.6kgs on the reds and 24 kgs in total

Hi,

Im classed as Morbidly obese and am going to consult my doctor regarding the reductil pill.

If its prescribed via a doctor in the uk do you only pay the standard prescription costs?

Re:Reductil( does it work)?? ne1 know?? Reply to this message
Thanks Tigne. I don't know if i'm happy with this though feels like its taken forever!!. I get up and have porridge and then take my reductil then normally have a jacket or something similar around 4 and maybe a slice of toast later on, I have no appetite at all even when i wake up, but take the tablet still as it speeds up my metabolism apparently??. I do feel a bit tired wish i had the energy rush like others but ats long as the weights coming off i dont mind plus it may have something do with the fact i have a 7 yr old boy to run after and 2 jobs and a house to run! :-). I've also been going swimming a lot and walk most places so this probably helps. Well done on yours, Seen as we started at similar times it would be nice to check in with each other. You have a lot less to lose than me though which is why my loss will have been a bit more to start with i'm sure mine will slow down at some point, I still ideally want to lose about 50 kilos!!!, Which is a massive amount but if i keep focused and work hard I can do it...Nobody else can do it for me can they gonna try keep myself motivated. Have u had any side effects or anything? xxxx

Wow Sarah!! 7.5kgs in 2 weeks? That's remarkable! How much more weight do you need or want to lose? I too have been on the 10mgs for just over 2 weeks and I might have just about lost 3kgs... will weigh in tomorrow. Are you following a strict diet too? I am power walking for an hour a day, and make sure that the route I take includes lots of uphills. I still have about 10kgs to go though. And re your question I imagine that the 15mgs would restrict your appetite even further, but I have no experience of them. Keep up the fantastic work!

hey tig thanks for your support! i just bought another box of reds. i will try this month again but if i so not see any difference i will tell the doc. i tried other things before and had the same affect, is tart loosing wieght in the beggining but then i stop. i know (about ur friend) it happens to me too. i ve lost 8 kgs since october but no one seems to notice.:( sometimes its better for them to say nothing then say things that would hurt people. its very frustrating! some of them doesn t even know what kind of hell us people are passing through and they just tell you that if you really want to loose weight you will loose it (kind of they would like to say that you are not doing your effort to loose weight otherwise you will be slim by now) i hate those people. anyway i will keep trying cause i really want to give an answer to those people. thanks for your support tig! im feeling a little better now.

Hi m'lou sweetie! Please don't give up. Ejja we're in this together!! Kuragg!! (sorry for the foreign words ppl, but sometimes they're necessary.) You have to keep trying. Otherwise what will happen if you stop? Will you lose the weight? Will you reach your goal? I swear M'Lou if we get into bikinis this summer, we'll go for a swim together u nitkesshu xi ftit!! At the same time that I'm telling you these things, I'm also telling myself, because I'm feeling down again. This morning I was brimming with optimism, I went out walking, I even ran a bit too. I felt great. Then I went to the supermarket and met an old friend and we got chatting, mainly about walking, losing weight etc. And she told me "It's true that you've put on weight since I got to know you. You were always slim," as her eyes zoned in on my thighs. I honestly felt like I had been slapped in the face. Dammit I'm doing the best that I can. And one can't even say she's jealous, because she's super slim and weighs 50kg. I was nearly in tears on the way home. Am totally demoralised.

hi everyone, hi tig,

well for me it was not a good week!! i started reductil last week and i thought that since i ve started again from the beggining i would loose again but nothing happened i have still the wieght and measurments of 1 week ago. therefore the reductil this week did not have any effect. i am wondering if not it takes longer time fro them to work. i even went for 30 minutes walk 3 times this week and im planning to do 30 mins of bycycle during the weekend. but im really start to loose hope in myself. i ve been with this weight now from 24th january. for me its awful every week to go on the measuring scale and find the same number. even when i measure myself i cnat stand it any longer. can someone tell me what to do??!! tig is till have that goal in my mind and right now it s the only goal that keeps me going (when i go into a shop i start seeing bikinis all over!! i really wish i coul fit into them but im starting to loose hope that i will fit in one this summer. im just stuck!!! what can i do?

Re:Reductil( does it work)?? ne1 know?? Reply to this message
Hi all,
Just thought I'd report to HQ about my progress :)
It's been 2 and a half weeks now on Reds 10mg and I seem to have lost between 3 and 4 kg. I really need to get myself good scales because am sick of the two I currently have, and trying to get a faithful, dependable reading out of the two of them seems to be too much to ask. However, I actually feel my body changing a little, in that my waist is beginning to show, to curve inwards if you know what I mean. Also this morning I noticed stretch marks on my lower abdomen which, whilst not being a good thing per se, also must mean that am losing weight in that area too. I also tried on my "goal" jeans again, and this time it was a little bit less of a struggle. At least I managed to pull them up, but actually fastening them is still way off. But if I managed to slip into them 3 years ago, I'll get into them again even it kills me. I'm walking an hour a day too which is really helping.
Hey Marielouise, how's it going? I hope you're feeling better now. Do you still have your bikini goal firmly planted in your mind? I certainly do and it really helps to keep one's goals in mind. We all have our weak moments, when sticking to a diet seems impossible or just not worth the bother. I think I've said this before, but it's worth repeating. My mantra has become "How is this going to help me achieve my goal?" Positive visualisation also helps. I've read up a lot about this. Imagine yourself in your dream scenario, whatever works for you. Maybe it's walking into a roomful of people you know, at a party perhaps, and feeling confident that you look great, and hearing others tell you so. For me it's being able to wear all my old favourite clothes again, and not being limited to the few things which still fit me.
I would like to hear what works for others on this journey. What works for you? Tips on staying on track, etc.

Hey Need to Lose
I forgot that when I went away the pc wouldn't know this site so I couldn't write.. trip was awesome, I'm planning to go back I loved it so much!!

Funny story in Dubai the pharmacist was offering to do me a good deal for a batch of Reductil but its like 130 a box..

I wrote on here the day I got back saying I'd put on 1.5 kgs but that must have been dehydration from the plane cause the next day I was 91.5 so i lost a kilo while I was away which is good given I struggled to eat over there and ate lots of bread but was quite active..

How are things with you?

Those biscuits from Aldo are damora I think they are normaly in the first aisle..

Looking forward to hearing from you soon missed our notes on here :)

hi guys, just to let everyone know , everybody is different so if you only lose 1 kg in two weeks thats fine everyones body works differentley , if u can manage to lose 2 - 3 kg a week to start then your losing fluid the weight loss will slow. also for thos that are on the tablets & who have started exercise & working out , your weight loss may be minimal or u may gain as this is muscle , i started the gym and have only lost 4 kg by my whole body shape has changed & ive lost over a dress size! the reds work well but when on them for to long they dont work ive had to take a break and i put on 3 kg ( but i was eating really terribly ) emotional eating, ive started them again & my appetite has decreased thank god .... i just wanted to say to people if you want to keep the weight of try not to lose more than 1 - 1.5 kg per week any more than that & its not good for your body & you wont be able to maintain it ! goodluck all hope this helps

Hi Helen.. I must say that 52kg for 161cm sounds a bit drastic. I am 155cm and would love to be around 53kg. So I have about 10kg or 11kg to go. Have you checked a proper height/weight chart? There are loads online.
