| Hi vicki & donna, i'm now on day two. Got up today had three slices of marmite on toast, cut the grass,cleaned out the shed, hoovered up stairs and down and put ten tons of washing away and then ate spag bog and chips. My normal day would be get up have a fry up, go back to bed, get up go to work eat at work, come home and have a dinner.( hoping this a sign of things to come)I'm even going to use my exercise machine tomorrow( it's been in the shed since i bought it) lol |

| Martina: I too have a large appetite. My other option to Reductil was gastric surgery. I thought I had to give reductil a go first then go onto surgery later on if it did not work. I am about 30kg(66lbs) over weight. I have had a very hard time shifting it after the birth of my daughter. Now I am trying to lose it to 1 make me healthier for my kids and 2 so I can give my daughter a sister or brother without medical assistance oh and to live longer too. Yes I did find that they worked pretty much right away for me. But after reading some of the posts on here once some people were bumped up to the 15mg they did not have the same effects as the 10's. I have been given 3 months supply for now but the Dr wants me back in at 6 weeks to check on me. Good Luck Teresa |

| Hi Everyone Im also from the UK and new to this, just been to doctors today and been given script for 10mg. I was diagnosed 3 years ago with an under active thyroid after putting on 5 stone in 12 months. Have been taking Xenical for the past 2 years and have lost 3 stone but last 6 months havent been losing anything on Xenical so decided to ask my GP if I could try Reductil instead. Weighed in today at 76 kgs so going to take my first tablet tomorrow and am really hoping I will see the same great results that many of you have had. xxx |

| Hi Donna, totally agree with you about the ilness, and what doctors don't think of is the consequences of this ilness - diabetes, heart diseases etc, so I think they should really start thinking about it more. I am also in the UK and have to say all the doctors are thinking about is their budget. I will try those 10mg's but from reading your and other comments see that the 15mg's work straight away, so I will insist on those if no results after 3 weeks, even though I find it a waste of time. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Maggie my doctor gave me a months supply too and said if they wasnt working after the month he would take me off them, i am pleased to say i went back on monday and i am one and a half stone lighter and i have another months supply. | Hiya ladies x Martina, my doc put me straight onto the 15's.....his exact words were "i think you need them"!! There are 4 doctors in my practice and i plumped for the one who i thought was most likely to give me the result i wanted and so desperately needed as the others can be difficult to say the least.Forgot to mention i am in the UK. All the other times i have been and seen other doctors they have given me diet sheets and sent me home, which is as much use as a chocolate teapot if you have an insatiable appetite like me. The only way i can explain my appetite is like i have an overwhelming addiction to food which controls my life. I never feel full and could spend all day every day eating just for the sake of it. What annoys me is there is names for illnesses where you stop eating or make yourself sick but if you are overeating and overweight your just fat and greedy. I believe it is an illness in some cases and should be treated in a more caring manner by health officials. Anyway back to the reds, i found the 15's are fantastic for me and my appetite reduced immediately and the cravings i had for food have gone. I am now eating sensibly and losing weight. I am under no illusions that its the reds helping and i have to make long term changes and the thought of coming off the reductil eventually scares the hell out of me but its a start and the push i needed to set me in the right direction. I would give the 10mg a few more days to see how your body adjusts but if theres no change maybe you could consider going back to the doctor. Donna x |

| HI Donna, yes i'm in the uk as well. I'm on the 10mg, had them before but didn't get a chance to find out if they worked as my surgery stopped giving diet pills on prescription.( my doctor only gave me two weeks worth at the time) She's now given me a months worth to see how i go,if they don't make any difference she'll try me on something else. |

| hiya wanna be mum :o) thanks for the response, so you are saying that the first time you took the 10mg basically you didn't feel hungry from the first day? 3kg a week is brilliant - I wish :o) I am gonna give it few days to see if it kicks in. Can I ask you, how much did you eat before taking the pills? Cause like I mentioned, I have a big appetite, so just wondering if you were the same or I need 15mg thanks |

| Martina: I am on 10mg too and they seemed to work for me right away. I did read somewhere that it may take 3 days to really get working. Good luck. I had my first weigh in on Wednesday (week 1) I have lost 3.1kg. I am very happy with this so much so that I did not even think about having desert with dinner tonight. I watched my hubby eat a cheese cake and it did not even bother me. I worked out that if I keep up the way I am going and lost 3kg each week I will be at goal weight in 9weeks. Heres hoping!! | Hi Everyone, I'm the new kid on the block :-) I have been lurking for a week now & it was a week ago I started on reductil 10mg. The first couple of days I didn't really notice any difference in how I was feeling but the past few days I havn't really been feeling hungry & do feel full after eating small portions of food. I have gained alot of weight over recent years due to PCOS :-( and after recently turning 40 my Dr says "oh well i might put you on reductil to try & get some weight off you & then we might try diaformin." It was like HULLLLLO, have I been invisible all these years? Anyway I'm feeling a wee bit down tonight as I hopped on the scales only to find I havn't lost a thing in a week. | thanks Donna, I wanted to go on 15mg but my doctor wasn't even happy to give me the 10mg, she doesn't like giving tablets, instead insists on healthy food & exercise :o) but I have read a lot hear that lot of you are on 15mg, which might be better for me since I have a big appetite :o) did your doctor give you 15mg straight away? or maybe u bought them on internet. |

| Hiya Martina, I started straight on the 15mg tablets so i have no experience of how the 10mg felt. I know my experience of the 15's was that they worked instantly. I am sure one of the other ladies who has experience of the 10mg's will be able to help you more. Good luck, Donna x |

| Hello everybody, I have started taking reductil yesterday, today took my second pill (10mg) and don't feel any difference at all. Do I need to wait a couple of days for it to start working? I am trying to tell myself that I am not hungry, but really I am :o) |

| Welcome to you too Maggie, i also work in stones and pounds being from the UK lol. Are you also in the UK? I am on 15mg Reductil and i have to say they work wonders for me. Just eat sensibly and healthily, you will notice you will eat smaller portions anyway as you will feel fuller much quicker and keep the fluids up. | Hiya Kylie, A warm welcome from me x My name is Donna and i have been on reductil for just over 4 weeks now. I too have an underactive thyroid and can totally relate to the weight fluctuations and the doctor is aware of this problem and said in no way would affect me taking reductil so dont worry about that. I also have a lot of weight to lose and as you know being a fellow hypothyroidism sufferer its a big big problem. What dose of thyroxin are you taking at the mo and is your level stable? I have lost one and a half stone already on the reds so thay have made a big difference to me. I have added you onto my msn so feel free to chat if you want to tlak about things, Donna x |

| Hi Can someone please help me???? My doctor prescibed me reductil and I am just wondering what else I need to do except take it everyday, I need to loose a heap of weight fast I am just sooo unhappy at the size I am now. I am 25 about 160cm tall and weight 95kg at last weigh in which was today 17/4/05 but only last week I weighed 105kg I fluctuate because of my under active thyroid.
