If you are taking any other medications Melatonin is not recommended. I did some research and it says to consult your doctor. University of Maryland and WebMD has suggested to mix any other drugs with Melatonin.

Oh, you poor thing!.....most things (like natural; niacin, melatonin, pot)...have the opposite effect that they are supposed to have, too, on me........I can't really help you, but, I can sympathize........I can only suggest to stop the melatonin......calcium-ma gnesium (high potency- more thah is on the label) tend to have a relaxing effect- has been proven- I can take those

Also, the little common (well- here in Canada)garden plant, Lobelia, acts as a muscle relaxant......if you are making your own tea from the plant- DON"T forget to put a stimulant like cayenne pepper in with it- or, you will end up with your diapham(muscle that powers action of the lungs) TOO relaxed....causing MORE spasms. Tis better to buy at a alternative health store ( I have had my experiences)
Also, if opium poppies are grown in Australia, try boiling the pods in water to make a tea......it is a bit relaxing.....where I live, they are a common garden plant......I have used the pods AFTER the flowers have fallen off........heroine is made from pods BEFORE they flower.....so, the tea I suggest is very mild.

Good luck, dear.

my dealings with melatonin and negative Reply to this message
I recently have been taking melatonin 1-3 mg at night to help me sleep. And for me it created more harm than good. It basically made my mental illness 10 times worse than it should have been. It created in me mood changes, decreased blood flow, fatigue, irritability, vivid dreams, and stagnant breathing. Not to mention the possible hormonal effects that it may have had on me. It did not create any noticeable effects in my thyroid test. But it definitley messed with me hormonally.
Is there anything out there that counterracts the negative effects of melatonin? I mean the most I found was that melatonin decreases the negative effects from inderal. So I figured the reverse would also be true in that inderal could help me. As it also is a drug that helps tremors/anxiety, and people with PTSD. I also have dyspnea due to chest restriction due to scoliosis.
