As far as I know, it's protein that's actually the building blocks of life.

Oh, Yes, sorry I didn't specify the question. How can the virus be part of the building blocks of life, if it is such a poison??
It causes diseases! I find this a puzzlement. |

Does any one have the answer to this question?
We know that the building blocks of life are the virus and the cell, but according to various dictionaries, the virus is a poison which causes changes in the cell.
Here is a dictionary definition:
VIRUS
an ultramicroscopic (20 to 300 nm in diameter), metabolically inert, infectious agent that replicates only within the cells of living hosts, mainly bacteria, plants, and animals: composed of an RNA or DNA core, a protein coat, and, in more complex types, a surrounding envelope.
