its really hard to stop the itching.. you could try sebitar, tea tree oil would be the go.. but really you need to go to the dermo. to stop the itching.

How many of you give your scalp an oil treatment?, A friend of mine puts the Nutrimetics apricot oil onto her scalp and leaves it there for 2 days, then washes it out and it keeps the dermatitis away. She only applies it once every 2 to 3 months and at night time places a towel on her pillow, so the oil can be left in over night.

I was also told I have seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp and was recommended nizoral but also found it wasn't working. I am now using selsun in the yellow bottle and it works great. I highly recommend. Neutrogena T Gel is also good but not as good.

Re:seborrheic dermatitis Reply to this message
Hi all, does anyone ever find their skin appears to get used to the different types of shampoos? I feel I have to change the cycle every 6 months or so before I go back to the original.
One thing Im trying to locate is a moistureiser that is suitable for the skin condition. I usually use nizoral on my face as a bit of a face wash, but find that this really dries out my skin. Any suggestions? Ive been trying a QV moisturiser but its still no good.
Thanks in advance

I have suffered from seborrheic dermatitis for about 4 years mainly around my nose eyes and lips. I tried several treatments over a 3 year period but all seemed to have little affect. In the last year i have been treating myself on a daily basis with Tea tree oil from Coles ( about $9 per bottle ) and a 1% cortison cream called DERMAID available over the counter from the chemist ( about $14 a tube ). I noticed result within a week of starting the treatment and now i rarely have any symptoms at all. I still treat myself at least 2-3 times per week just to be sure. This has been fantastic for me as i had become so self concious about it and at times it would become so inflamed that it would be rather painful. I hope this is of some help to others that suffer from this condition. It's worked for me and it's relatively cheap. Goodluck.

------------------------- ------------------------- ---------

my partner suffers with the same condition and it is a nuicance to have as he has suffered for 7yrs and the only shampoo that helps is selsun for dandruff (yellow bottle).
we have tried head and shoulders but that just flares the condition and it becomes worse.

I also suffer from seborrheic dermatitis, and it also flares-up around my nose and middle of my face. The Head and Shoulders Intensive Treatment controls it almost completely for me. It is the one with the blue bottle and orange liquid. Hope it works for you.
