I hate these drugs my brother tried to kill himself with them.
It takes at least 2 to 6 weeks to see results. |

| Lauren, you're so right. Some people MUST have some form of these meds just to function. My daughter (again!) has BPD and constantly had psychotic episodes during which she was vile and dangerous and put her's and her childrens' lives at risk. She had tried "no meds" and many anti-depressants, St J W etc etc, but has never looked back since going on Zoloft. It's like a miracle! I realise this is not for everyone. |

Depression, so ur depressed, can't sleep.
do you know that low iodine content in your body can cause these syptoms also.
are you moody, perhaps eating a lot, perhaps have sore muscles as well. there are many side effects, connected to having low iodine levels.
Get this checked by your doctor. HOrmones thyroid, all interconnected if your levels of iodine is not good, you will suffer much. |

Lexapro and any other drug used for depression, anxiety, psychosis etc, etc all have overall unwanted side effects.
But in the end, it is the individuals decision whether or not they can cope without prescription medication, and some people as much as they HATE the meds HAVE to take them because there is no other solution.
we could go on and on about the side effects of every drug used to treat mental illness, but like i said it comes down to the individuals choice and many many MANY people find there is no other solution to the emotional stress of suffering from this debilitating illness, unless one has reached the end of their tether and knows first hand what its like to suffer from mental illness,i don't believe they have the right to say to someone to stay away from this medication and that medication....
my two cents!!
hahaha :) |

| Horrible, it didn't help and it was a nightmare to get off. Herbal supplements have always helped me, try st. johns wort, its a herbal anti-depressant, used for stress and mild anxiety, but do not use it as well as the Lexapro. |

| When being diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress which caused my Anxiety, Social Phobia & Depression a year and a have ago I was prescribed Lexapro 10mg and have been taking them ever since. Lexapro has given me my life back and I am no longer afraid of leaving my house, going to the shops or driving. Occasionally I’ll have a little moment where I need to take a 5mg Valium to settle me down if I can’t sleep but otherwise I’m fine. I experienced no side effects with Lexapro. I also suggest you get some CBT therapy as that will help you in the long term. Good luck, if I can get past Social Phobia, I’m sure you can too. |

| Can only repeat what others have said regarding a trial of at least a month before considering whether something is working or not...one thing my dr did tell me when I switched from lexapro to movox (and complained that neither worked, lol) was that sometimes it unfortunately can take a number of tries at different meds and other therapies/counselling etc before striking what is going to 'work' for you: If there was one magic treatment and one magic drug there wouldn't be so many of them on the market because dr's wouldn't waste the time on the bad ones. |

| I have been on lexapro for about 2 weeks and im taking 20mg a day. I dont feel that it's working for my social anxiety. I still dont want to be around people. I was on paxil before this and it didnt work at all. Am i being too impatient or maybe this isnt the right medication for me? |
