I'm plannin on gettin one removed on my chest, its a fairly small one, only covers my right peck. upto my collar bone, and just down to near the bottom of the peck. It has about 50% black in it. i've just made an appointment with the victorian cosmetic intitute... http://www.thevictoriancosmeticinstitute.com.au/
im not sure if this is the right choice or not. they had some photos of results of previous customers... (http://www.thevictorianc osmeticinstitute.com.au/l aser-tattoo-removal/befor e-after.php) I was just wondering... am i making the right choice? |

| Be reassured that laser tattoo removal cannot leave you with any "neurological" side effects. The laser energy only goes as deep as the tattoo ink in the dermis. If you are having these strange sensations it would be a good idea to see your GP. Good luck! |

| lynnrbrkhor, just wondering if you could give me some advise, I have had about 4 laser surgerys re tattoo on my back over 8 year period (slowley but surely) and have tried to find info re side effects of laser surgery. I have experienced for quite some time now tingling in my back, it doesnt hurt yet is quite annoying it comes and goes usually when I am sitting still, I can only think that this started around the time I started laser surgery or maybe it could be effects of epidural, still trying to ascertain what would cause this sensation ....any feedback from readers would be good thanks |

| Thanks for the positive feedback! We run Laser Dermatology in the Melbourne suburb of Box Hill. We started doing laser tattoo removal in 1993 ( ouch! where have the years gone!) and as a medical specialist dermatology clinic still offer the most professional and experienced treatment in Victoria, if not Australia. Laser removal of tattoos has advanced over the years and we keep all our equipment up to date - this includes the q-switched YAG, Ruby and Alexandrite lasers. BUT the most important factor is the experience of the operator. All our operators are registered nurses with years of experience. We have consultant dermatologists on call. Hope this helps anyone wanting to make an informed choice. Cheers! |

I had a very old tattoo on my upper arm, apparantly the older they are the easier they are to remove, something to do with the ink used.
I went to Box Hill for a consultation only - the consultant said she had time to do the first treatment then and there - she did, and it disappeared!! She said not to get excited as it would come back - the treatments can be deceiving in the first hour, but it never came back!!
I have no scarring and no evidence whatsoever of a tattoo ever having been there.
I do not remember the name of the clinic, but would go back in a heartbeat if I had more to be removed. |

Just make sure you go to a qualified doctor to get it removed. There are different procedures - surgical excision, laser, dermabrasion. They're all done under local anesthesia. More info is at http://www.healthyu-skin.org/tattoo_removal.htm
Also, keep the area out of the sun afterwards - it will be very sensitive to sunburn. |

| yeh my flate mate is in the 11th stage of the procedure now, he has had 10 treatments already at about $300 per session, he thinks its looking great but to me it looks like another 10 treatments, as i think it looks like a tatt thats 20 years old, but it does have a lot of clear spots where the ink has been removed. |

| I'm in the same position mate, have a few silly tatts that have cost me dearly, I want them gone but the internet doesn't seem to be giving me any real info on getting rid of them. Looking at that Tatt be gone stuff, It's supposed to be the cheapest way but my brain just can't accept that you can remove a tattoo with a cream. I'll keep looking and if I find anything I'll let you know, please let me know if you find anything, It's nice to find someone with the same fight on their hands . Mick. |
