I found this on my trainers' site, it's a sort of manual of how to do the various exercises, you might want to look at it :)

Hi monalisa....I spoke to you on another topic here that I posted and thought I'd give your question a shot since noone else has replied, LOL.

I go to the gym too and am in the process of trying to get ready for summer swimsuit season again. I normally do some cardio....treadmill and the bikes....about 20 minutes first and then head to the weight machine room. They have a circuit type room with a variety of machines and there are no trainers so we are on our own. The machines have pictures instructing us how to do them so that helps somewhat.

Do you want to slim down or get toned or build muscle or what specifically? I'm trying to slim down my legs because they are muscular and thick and I don't like them. LOL

From what I've heard...heavier weights and fewer repetitions are better for building muscle, while lighter weights and higher repetitions are better for toning and losing weight.

I try to vary my routine so my body doesn't get used to the same thing every time I work out. I've heard that is a good thing to do too. Some people work certain muscle groups one day, and another muscle group the next time, giving the first group a day of rest. Others work out their entire body each time...guess it depends on what you like and what works for you.

I don't know if I helped you any, lol. For me, as long as I get my butt to the gym...I'm doing something right, lol.

Good luck!
