dizzylizzy10000, howdy!
Did you ever get an answer for this problem? I have symptoms identical to yours: the odor is only in my nose (not sweat), after exercise, and I'm not a smoker. I've asked a few doctors, and they look at me like I'm crazy.
I've tried eating an apple before jogging (idea from the web), as well as making sure that I'm very well hydrated. Nothing works. |

After I take a long run (30-60 minutes) I also have this smell of ammonia in my nose. It goes away quickly. My sweat does not smell of ammonia. I have been doing some reading today on the internet. It looks like we should have our liver and kidneys screened? I also smoke, However, I have friends who smoke and don't experience this smell. Please let me know what you find.
Thanks,
Danni |

Hi,
Yeah, this is from eating too little carbs or too much protein before you exercise. It's a sign your kidneys are working (too?) hard.
Persistent ammonia-breath is a sign of kidney failure. |

| Hi, I recently started exercising regularly again and find that after an extended aerobic exercise I smell something like ammonia coming out of my nose. I have had this in the past and have never heard of anybody else with this problem. I am a smoker and wondering if its the nasty stuff coming out. |
