Hi. I went through the same thing before. I hated myself for my failure to lose weight no matter how hard I try. I was killing myself by dieting too much and then going to the gym. What worked for me was eschewing the gym and working out with a fitness trainer from Fitness Crew. I've had fun workouts since :)
You should also take heed of what the others here had said. I don't think I can contribute anything else since most of them has this covered :) |

First thing you guys should do is throw the scales out the window! Your best aids are the tape measure and the mirror!
I see some people here giving up after one or two months.......jayzus, your body is only starting to adapt at that stage, stay with it, it takes time.....
DIET DIET DIET
The other tip I can give is that I see people in the gym doing their hour and half "workouts". In fact they might spend about 25 minutes exercising the rest is socialising, yet theu cant work out why things are not workng for them..........
Get away from the trendy shlt workouts, free weights work best, no denying that. Add some cardio, either boxing, swimming, bike riding, treadmill etc etc.
You go to the gym to train, not chat. Keep your eyes on the weights, STAY FOCUSSED, keep your rest breaks between sets to less than a minute and push your boundaries. Its as much about training your mind as your body, just keep pushing your boundaries. The mind gives out before the muscles.......... |

| wow you are in the worst shape of your life and you expect one week in the gym to get you into shape? your body isnt used to it, no huge explanation, just plain and simple, get back in there until you see some results, eat healthy and see results. |

| Calories in - calories out is only one part of the equation. Have you ever heard that your body stores weight as protection. This can be an emotional issue, a mental issue, a hereditary issue or simply the body storing toxins in the fat cells to protect your vital organs and glands from experiencing a major breakdown or disease. The first step is to move towards Wellness first and then worry about your Fitness second. Your body has intelligence so listen to it. Get well first and then when your body is ready it will tell you when it wants to get fit. Wellness is defined as the absense of toxins in the body. I have developed an audio program www.absolutedetoxnaturall y.com that I have been on for 9 months now and I have lost many kilos but my dimensions have dropped dramatically such that my clothes now are far too big for me and I need to get a whole new wardrobe. I have not exercised except for a walk on the beach with the dog and I have not changed my diet. Having cleared all the toxins from my body I jumped on the rowing machine and within 2 weeks achieving a resting pulse of 48(I am 62 years old)and my recovery rate was quicker than when I was rowing competitively in my late teens at University. My experience is listen to your body, go for Wellness before Fitness, then when you are Well(absence of toxins) go for the Fitness Factor and then dismiss as much kilos as you choose. This way may be a little slower in terms of kilos but you will be totally healthy, happier and have far more energy in days. |

| Please Help Me Lose Pounds. I do care what I weigh on the scale and so do doctors. I want to drop all this excess weight and I have alot..... to drop. I am stressed out over this and very ... upset. My relationship has taken a toll over this as well, for a variety of reasons. I want to look good again. I know.. on tv peopl lose 100 pounds without surgery. I didnt want to have to have surgery but.. will if necessary. I am at whits end here. I did lose with Jenny Craig and the foods were ballanced and very deliscious. I had to stop only because.. I didnt have the money to keep it up. I am so.. depressed. Nothing seems to work. I dont want to resort to pills to help me, and I dont want to eat like a rabbit, blan foods. I want a ballance. I dont want to have to become a gym rat and depend on this as a way of life. I dont think the gym agrees with my body, because I seem to gain weight and muscles and having a naturally musclular build on me as a woman , is not... attractive at all. I want to excersise but.. not be obsessed with it. I am most concerned about dropping pounds not inches and would like a way to do it so that I can see results soon. Thank You. |

| I am totally... disgusted. I am 43, no kids and am now.. in the worse shape of my life! I joined a gym, was attending it and doing all that the trainer said and then some more.. for 5-6 days a week, 1.5 hours a days, sometimes two. No inches were lost and no weight either. I since.. stopped going for two weeks. I can not .. see going through all that agony and hard work for two months and getting no where. I was eating 5 meals a day. I am considering the lap band or Jenny Craig. I know they both work. I am so.. upset. My boyfriend even said its not working. I dont think everyone is the same. |

| Hi, weighloss is achievable i am actually in the process at the moment. Exercise does help you. I joint Fitness First Gym in September last year (2007) and as we stand in feburary i have lost an amazing stones and I am very committed to all what i am doing. I train at the gym 3 times a week, I will go to the gym another one or 2 times for about 45 mins just do some cardio exercises keeping in routine. the rest of the times i spend atleast 1hr 30 mins in the gym. My diet is all organised and like already mentioned keep food diaries, I have a Personal Trainer in the gym and i work alongside him to achieve the results, he measrues the body fat, weight, and other measurements and you will realise you do get results. Where alot of people go wrong is they will look and listen to fad diets and try them and not get results and then go gym and work crazy to get the weight off. Remember one thing weight gain is like a seconds things but to loose it is a mission. The slower the weight comes off the better it is in terms of health for yourself. Best advise... see a personal trainer at the gym or even a fitness instructor theyl advise you more. You dont want to be depressed about it because that follows comfort eating and more weight gain and thats not what u want. |

My scales have to go in the bin !!!
I did a search in google trying to figure out why I am gaining weight?
I have weighed the same on my scales since I was age 16, 55-58 kgs I am now 32 hight 5ft2.
Today I weighed myself I am 62 kgs !!!!!
I stopped smoking in Jan and hit the gym every day, its now mid March, my diet has not changed my clothes all fit fine, so what’s with the 5-7kg extra weight gain?
I am horrified that instead of loosing weight by gyming I am gaining....
But I come to the conclusion that as long as I feel healthy and stay a non smoker all is good.
thanx for your wisdom |

Anybody can lose weight (and I mean anybody) if you really, really want to!!! You have to decide what you really want, and why, and the time frame you want to acheive this in. I don't believe in weght loss gimics, if you must, get a personal trainer, BUT make sure it is either somebody with at least 10yrs industry experience, or someone who looks like they actually practice what they preach.
Also, be realistic, if you want a killer body, great abs, and huge boobs, take a reality check. Mosy sports models works their butts off, and have access to some fantastic plastic surgeons.
If you lose around .5 kilo a week then you are on the right track. Oh, you can lose a lot more the heavier you are, but if you are an average Jane, and you are looking to drop some massive bodyfat, please throw the scales in the bin, where they belong. You can weigh yourself silly, at leat 3-4 times a day, and each time you will get a different reading. Also, being obsessed about how much you weigh, as apposed to what you look like (bodyfat %) is a recipe for disaster. Many, many women suffer from some form off body dysmorphia (I think thats the right spelling).
A siple recipe for losing bdy fat quickly (if you are that obsessed). No alcohol, no smokes, no soft-drinks (especially diet), water, water, water (filtered only), no carbs after dark, low-fat everything, no dessert, salad, salad, salad, supplements (vitamins), no high GI fruits, flax seed oil, steamed, or grilled highest quality meat/protein, and high protein diet. (each meal should consist of 50% carbs, 20 % protein, and 30% fat-I don't mean deep fried). Oh, yeah, hit the gym at least 3 times a week for weight training, and the ohter 3 for cardio. High intesity work outs, and don't eat at least 2 hrs before a work out, and exactly one hour after. If you leave it longer than an hour you will become catabolic. Also eat smaller more frequent meals, and train at a high intensity 45mins weights, 20 mins cardio. |

| I'm a 37 year old man who has abused his body for the better part of those years. I have been back to the gym after a 10 year absence and am finding it difficult, however,i've lost about 12 kilos and am gaining strength since the initial weight loss my weight has not moved much but my level of fittness has increased my muscle mass has increased and my enormous gut is slowly shrinking. The key is to keep going watch what you eat and KEEP GOING. |

Check your thyroid function, if overweight or especially low in energy, or high cholesterol.
To learn how go to www.health-care.org.au and click on hypothyroid.
Two substances will facilitate weightloss Coconut Oil, 1 tablespoon daily. And conjugated linoleic acid, which also importantly protects muscle. Proven to treat and prevent Obesity, Heart Disease, Metaseses in Breast cancer and improve immune function. And guess what the source is:
Well marbled beef, especially Aberdeen Angus beef tallow, lamb, full cream dairy in particular. This discloses all of the low fat, no fat crap fed you by the U.S Department Of Agriculture who want you to eat tonnes of cereal grains, bread and pasta, to keep you obese and sick and conrolled by BIG PHARMA and the medicos.
You need proof www.health-care.org.au home page and look at TGA and Codex on right hand side to learn how it will be for you all in the not too distant future! |

Hi, I am a weightloss consultant and mentor. If you have been going to the gym and not lost weight, do not be too distressed. As everyone ha said before me, weight is not the key issue. Have you had a body analysis done. You should get on the scales at your guym and have your weight, percentage of bodyfat, percentage of muscle mass tested. Muscle obviously weights more then fat.
If you are trying to lose weight as well as tone up, focus on the measuring tape rather then the scales. Measure your waist (at your navel), hips, chest, upper arms, thights. Write these measurments down and do them at the same time once every couple of weeks. It is the cm/inch loss that is important as that means you are creating a new body shape and building your muscle mass/decreasing your body fat stores.
The next thing to consider is your diet. If you are working out regularly you must eat the right balance of carbs/fats/proteins. It is the proteins that will increase your muscle mass, this in turn will reduce your body shape as muscle takes up far less room in you body then fat.
Eat Eat Eat. Many people make the mistake of not eating enough. 3 meals and 2 snacks and 2ltrs water. Make sure your snacks are high protein low fat. What are you eating??Keep a food diary to help pin point what you should improve.
Try these things and see how you go. If you want more info or a free body analysis visit my website, log in your details and fill out the online survey. This will give me greater detail to your protein requirements, calorie consumption, percentage of body fat/muscle mass etc.
Good luck and do not quit exercising, your body will respond once you figure out where it is being slowed down.
My website is www.healthwealthhappiness .net or email me at salbrow4@yahoo.com.au |

| Hi you should never weigh yourself get rid of the scales.Remember muscle weighs more than fat does you can usually tell by the way your clothes fit.I used to compete and have been training for years when i competed i weighed in at 52kilos and after having 3 chilren and 6yrs since my comp im still the same. But back than i was a ball of muscle now i still am quite defined but no where near as ripped as what i was so do you see what i mean even though the scales arent changing your body obviously is so dont give up on all the hard work you have put in and good luck. |

You sound organised and thats good. You also do your weights before your RPM which is good. Maybe as a suggestion don't go back to the gym to complete your weights program. Maybe do more tread mill work or (if you have the energy) a light active routine instead.
If your looking to lose weight (fat) try doing your aerobic activities second, and any bodybuilding activities first. |

| Better still, measure yourself with a tape measure. More accurate than todays clothing sizes, as they differ so much. I have stuff ranging from a size 8 top to a size 16 skirt, and they all fit! |

| Well i have been working out at the gym for 10 and a half mnths and still haven't lost anything. Well I have gained 2 kilos then lost it then put it back on again. This has been going on for 10 and half mnths now. I go to the gym 4-5 times per week. Going for 2 hours each day. I do RPM and that supposed to be the fastest fat burning program.mmm!!!!! I get so hungry after I have completed my workout. I also do 20 minutes fast walk on the tredmill and 10 minutes of weights before i commence my RPM which last for approx 40 minutes the go back into the gym to complete the rest of my weight program. I love going to the gym its my second home.My upper body is looking good but the place where i need to lose the weight would be the bottom half. Thighs and buttocks. My measurements have changed i was a size 16 and now in most clothing size 14. What is wrong with me. The scales say i have put on weight. |

| I have been going to the gym for a month. Normally, I will go there 3-4 times per week and attend Body Combat and cardios. Yet, I also cut down my carbs and sugars consumptions. I didnt lose any weights but gained muscles. Is that meant to be normal? |
