Midijola,

Wow you are so sweet! Thank you for thinking of me, I really appreciate it! I often think of you and your pregnancy too. Even though we have never met it feels somehow like we are connected! :)

I'm glad to hear your appointment went well and that everything is on track, how exciting!

Yes, I am very excited to graduate. The sash on my robe will be gold because I am graduating with suma cum laude honors. How about you? I attended the University of Minnesota Duluth in Duluth, Minnesota for 2 years, and then the University of Memphis in Memphis, TN for 2 years, and that is the school I will be graduating from.

Hav you only gained 2 lbs your whole entire pregnancy? Wow I am off to a bad start! I have already gained about 5 and I'm only 10w2d! Haha! I stil have to remind myself that I am pregnant because I am not kidding you when I say I have NO SYMPTOMS! Sore breasts are gone, all cramping gone, no morning sickness at all. In fact, my only symptom is tired sometimes and white discharge, other than that I feel completely normal. I guess I'm one of the "lucky ones" as people tell me!

Well I hope all continues to go well for you. Yes, I am on facebook, you should add me as your friend. My name is "Jennifer Von Holdt" so look for me on there!!!

Hi Praying.

I was just talking to my husband about you today, as I had my OB app. today and he was running very very late.I had said that I was a bit concerned as the last time I didnt hear from you for a while things were not good for you. I am so happy and excited for you to hear that all is good. i knew a woman in SLC that had to have her cervix stitched up also when she was pregnant with all 3 of her children. Never knew why but I have heard of that happening.

How exciting to finally get to walk on stage at your grad ceremony. That is so awesome. My last exam will be in Nov and my ceremony will be in March. Our school yrs run opposite to you of course cos our summer is over Christmas. Of course though depending on how many classes each semester you do you can finish mid year. What colour was your sash on your robe? What uni did you go I will check their website. I am at ECU in Perth, Western Australia.

I am 28 wks now, havent gained any weight yet except for 1kg = 2 lbs. Hey are you on facebook? I am, we should meet up in there? My appointment today went along smoothly, got to see the little guy which was pretty awesome, my daughter enjoyed looking too. Plus I love how intrigued my husband gets as he doesnt ever care too much to feel the baby kick in my belly. The baby is head down already which is good.

I am due Oct 7. I best be off and am so happy about how well you are coming along. I hope your morning sickness isnt too bad and you are managing well.No need to apologise if its a while between posts, as long is all ok. Take care till next time......Di

Sorry for going on and on, it has just been so long since I have talked to you.

So how is everything with your pregnancy going? Anything new? I hope no preeclampsia this time!! When is your due date again?

Sorry again that it has been so long, but life has calmed down some here (until we move back to North Dakota in a month), so hopefully we can chat more regularly! :)

Re:Trying to for a baby with PCOS! Reply to this message
Midijola,

I am sorry I didn't post sooner, things have been so busy around here lately, which I guess is a good thing because it makes the time go by quicker. I was taking 2 courses from June-July in order to finish up my degree...AND I AM NOW DONE WITH COLLEGE!! :) Soon you will be done too, very exciting isn't it?

Well, I went in for my second scan yesterday and I was so afraid. I was absolutely convinced the baby had stopped growing because I felt nothing. Besides ONE day, I haven't had any morning sickness, and all of my other symptoms are gone...nothing... but right away she saw a beautiful heartbeat of 167 bpm and our little baby measuring 10w2d. I was 10w1d yesterday, so it was right on track. (Actually measuring a day ahead this time). The little baby was squirming and waving it's hand at us as if it was saying "Hi mummy and daddy!!" It was adorable!

I am so thankful and happy, but still a little bit concerned about the bicornuate uterus as my doctor showed me the tissue that makes the septum and it looked like it went down a long ways. (Meaning that my baby probably only has half of a uterus to grow).

Anyway, I am just thankful for the good results and my faith in God has really brought me through this...this is a miracle given to me by Him and I still can't believe that my dreams are coming true after 2 miscarriages. I can't believe it's finally "my time"...I just hope all goes well.

My next appointment and scan is August 6. I can't wait already, haha! In my research on BU I have seen that sometimes women get a stitch put in their cervix around 12-16 weeks because the baby runs out of room to grow (since it only has half the room it is supposed to have) and the mom's cervix will start dialating because the baby wants to come out, which can lead to a late miscarriage, so I expressed my concerns about this to my doctor and he said at my next appointment on August 6 he will check to see if I am dialating, so I feel a little bit better.

Re:Trying to for a baby with PCOS! Reply to this message
Hi praying,

I am so happy to hear that everything is coming along well so far. As for the baby measurements and hormone levels, I was told at first that my levels were a bit low, as I tracked each week until I was I think 7 or 8 weeks. I then, as I do for my own peace of mind I googled and on many sites it said just a range in levels is considered normal and in actual fact it can take up to 3 days to double. As when I was told it was low I stressed a bit as I am sure you did too.

As for the measurements, I still measure small now, by about 4 days. As you know with having an assisted pregnancy you know your dates to the day of conception. My last pregnancy I was on the right days every time. They told me you can go 5 days either side of the days given. So I wouldnt worry too much I dont think. As long as the baby is still growing consistently which it appears that it is, I think you should be probably ok.

At this point last time, is when my pre eclampsia started to rear its ugly head. My feet and ankles were swelling daily and by 30 weeks my hands were swelling, my blood pressure started to creep up and I stared to get traces of protein i my urine......all of course not good news!! However, I was as I mentioned earlier so much heavier and not in the best of health. I cant believe how well I am feeling, my hips have been out and have given me a little bit of grief but i have been visiting my chiro often and he is adjusting me weekly at the moment and I am definitely improving! But other than that the kicks I get, I hardly remember I am even pregnant.

I start back at school at the end of July, which I am semi looking forward to. It is my last semester which that is the exciting part, but will have a baby in the middle. I only have 3 classes left and I will do 2 off campus, which I think wont be too bad.

Well I best be off now, I am so pleased to hear you are well on your way. I am sure the morning sickness has probably started to kick in by now, just ...

Re:Trying to for a baby with PCOS! Reply to this message
Hey Midijola,

Good to hear from you again! I was worried you would never come back and check our bulletin! :)

WELL CONGRATS ON THE BOY AND SO FAR SUCCESSFUL PREGNANCY!! How exciting! So were you hoping for a boy too? I'm so glad to hear everything is going well for you.

I had my first doctor's appointment around 4 weeks...and the doctor said it was obviously too early to tell, but he took my HCG which was 354...he said that was a little low. I went back two days later thought and it was up to 1,864, so it was doubling as it should, so we didn't do anymore HCG.

I went in June 25 for an ultrasound. I was scared out of my mind because I have had such bad experiences! We saw the little bean and its heart beating though, so it was SO EXCITING! The baby was measuring 6w4d, but I should have been 7w1d, but they said its not abnormal to be off in the early weeks, what do you think? I am taking prometrium 200mg 1x daily, and metformin 500 mg 2x daily, as well as a prenatal vitamin. The doctor said I will stop the prometrium after the 12th week, but stay on the metformin and vitamins through the whole pregnancy.

One thing that was really disturbing that I am worried about...is that I have a bicornuate uterus. They had mentioned it before but I never really thought anything of it. Basically my uterus is heartshaped, with two horns. The baby implanted in one of the horns, which may be a bad thing because it could run out of room to grow, as the rest of the uterus does not recognize the pregnancy and therefor the baby only has the horn to grow in. The dangers are late miscarriage and preterm delivery. I am trying not to worry. I believe if God brought me this far He will bring me all the way through...I hope!

My next ultrasound is schedule for July 16th...so I should be 10 weeks at that time. We will see what that ultrasound brings. The hardest part is waiting to know that everything is ok! :)

Hi Prayng

Congratulations!!! Thats fantastic news!! You must be almost 2 months long now, I hope everything is coming along well. Congratulations on graduating too, its a hard slog I know but well worth it!

I am 25 weeks along now. Its hard to believe that I am past 6 months pregnant and well and truly have a baby bu.mp. Last time I was pregnant I was so so overweight that you couldnt even tell I was pregnant till I was about 8 months along, I am enjoying it and the cute maternity clothes to wear. In the last 2 years I have lost over 40kg( almost 100 lbs) I thought that would help with conception and the PCOS but it didnt. Just my looks and my health and fitness.

We are having a BOY! I think I have come to terms with that now, it was quite a shock but its happening and there is no mistaking it. So my little girl is excited to get a baby brother. As of course my husband is to have a son and to take on the family name. I am very excited too, now I will have a matching pair.

I took metformin and pre natal vitamins through my first trimester and now just take the vitamins. Glad to hear from you and I am happy to hear about your new pregnancy, keep me updated, take care

Midijola,

I am so sorry that I haven't written in so long! Life has been so crazy with trying to finish up school and graduate, and trying to conceive at the same time.

How is everything with your pregnancy going? I hope all is well!?! Have you found out if it is a boy or a girl yet?

Well, yesterday I got a POSITIVE PREGNANCY TEST! I am just under 4 weeks, so it is very early. My doctor was surprised a pee stick picked it up this early. I am currently on vacation visiting my parents, so I will see my doctor this Thursday (June 5), when I am back. I am taking metformin 500 mg 2x daily, and prometrium 200mg 1x daily right now, so hopefully I can sustain this pregnancy...I don't think I can withstand a 3rd miscarriage.

Are you taking/were you taking any sort of supplements with this pregnancy?

I am so sorry once again that it has been so long, but I have been thinking of you often and I intended to come write to you many times. I hope to hear from you soon!!

Re:Trying to for a baby with PCOS! Reply to this message
Hi Praying,

I had my first trimester screening today and everything is great. I got through the first trimester!!!!YAY!! I am now 12wks 4days. My husband and I are going to tell our parents this weekend. My sister has a downs child and altho if we were told we would be high risk for downs, our decision would not be any different.

My sister whom also feels the same way, has had 5 kids now and she always gets the test done, because when she had her downs son, she never had the test and so did not know he was going to be born that way. She said the worst experience of her life was finding out 3 hrs after her baby was born that somehting was wrong with him, its just the piece of mind and the mental prep if there was going to be anything wrong. So when she told me that I thought yeap...I want the same...just knowing. But everything is perfect!

We told our daughter today. She will be 5 next month. Not quite grasping what is really happening yet but I know she is excited.

As for uni its all happening. I have mid semester break coming up next week for 2 weeks which will be nice to have a break but all I will be doing is assignments and trying to get the house ready for when my father in law comes out from Salt Lake next month. He is coming for our daughter bday....it will be great to have him here.

Well I guess you must have started bleeding today. I hope its all working to the schedule. After taking clomid will you be getting blood work done to guage your hormones? My sis who lives in Sydney was put on clomid but only tracked via her testing her temp. Which I think is just useless. I dont think she was going thru an OB tho. At around day 15 I had an ultrasound to measure the egg size. How many pills are you taking? A half, 1 whole?

Well best be going. Thanks for all you kind thoughts and wishes, I hope all is well with you too!!!

Hey Midijola,

Sorry it has been so long since I've posted, life has been hectic! School is getting the best of me, I have so much to do in so little time!

I had an appointment on March 27. The doctor put me on Prometrium (natural progesterone) and clomid...so I have the go ahead to start trying again. I will be taking the progesterone to induce a period starting April 1, then taking clomid days 5-9! I can't wait to get back to trying again! :) I am just hoping for the best, and I feel better knowing I have the progesterone supplements now!

I'm glad to hear still no bleeding! That's great! When is your next appointment? Have you had any more bloodwork or anything?

For my degree I take about 45 classes. Most of our degrees are 4 years, and we have to take a lot of generals, which is so stupid because they are classes like history, films, arts, etc... things that have nothing to do with my degree! I am a marketing management major with a minor in Spanish studies. What degree are you doing?

Haha you would think I have a funny accent, but actually I have managed to maintain my North Dakota accent (that is where I lived most of my life). I get teased here in TN. That's cool that your husband's family is in SLC. Do you think you guys will ever move back to the US? What brought you back to Australia?

Well, I hope all is goin well with your pregnancy. Can't wait to hear the update! :)

Hi Praying,

I had to have a little chuckle at your post...how often do we as women get excited about out periods?!?!?!? But I am very happy for you that its finally happening. And it sounds like you are having a good clean out.

Well 2 weeks have past and still no bleeding. My OB said its the next 2 -3 weeks that are the most critical, so I am feeling a little more reassured. I am waiting till I am 13 weeks before I tell any family etc. I have told one sister (I have 5)as she is the most trustworthy and can keep a secret. Plus I am quite close to her. But our parents will have to wait. So I have still 3 more weeks till I can spread my news.

Wow you do have a pretty heavy workload at school. I have just decided to drop a class. How many classes do you take for your degree. We take a total of 24 over 3 years. Some degrees are 4 yrs but most bsusiness are 3.So thats full time 4 per semester. 8/yr. I think the way the credits work out is a bit different to you guys plus all your degrees are 4 years arent they? We dont have 2 years of generals we go the 1st yr into our pre requisites for our major.

Wow if you grew up in Nth Dakota and lived in Minnesota and now in Tenessee you must be working on a funky accent then....LOL, my husbands family is all in Salt Lake City, thats where I also lived for 5 yrs. My daughter has US and Australian citizenship. My husband will probably take out Aussie citizenship this year. He is still a proud American and always will be but it will be much easier when we travel. I lived long enough in the US to get citizenship and I never did get it which I really regret. As I need a visa every time I visit.

Anyway take care...till next time

Hey Midijola,

I'm glad to hear that there is no bleeding! What a good sign! Have you been back for bloodwork or anything? Are you still pretty much on bedrest and taking it easy? I really am hoping and praying for the best for you!

It's so wonderful to have a supportive husband isn't it!?! My husband was wonderful through our troubles with pregnancy, and it really does help to have that support.

Things are going ok here. I started to worry because I have been using provera to start my periods for the last year and I usually bleed the day after I stop taking it, and this time I didn't bleed until 5 days later (I just started bleeding yesterday). I was relieved to see the blood because not bleeding after provera can mean a whole host of problems. I have been passing a lot of clots and tissue, which is good because it means my body is still cleaning out all the icky stuff from the miscarriage. I can't wait to start trying again!!!!!!!!!!!

School is going ok, I am completely overwhelmed though. I am taking 18 hours (6 classes), so it keeps me very busy. I have 2-3 tests every week and I have 6 projects due coming up soon here, so it is very stressful, but it a way it takes my mind off of the miscarriage and all the saddness I have.

Right now I am in Tennessee. I was born in North Dakota and was raised there for 18 years, then I went to Minnesota for my first two years of college, then I moved here because my husband is attending optometry school here and it was too hard being so far apart. We are moving back to Minnesota in August though, and I am very excited because all my friends and family are in the Minnesota/North Dakota area and we are lonely in Tennessee! :)

Well, I hope all is well with you, I look forward to hearing your update, I hope it is positive!!!!!!!!!!! Stay strong and hang in there!!

Hi Praying,

Thanks for thinking about me. So far still no bleeding but now and again I get a sharp pain in my lower abdomen, which scares me. Its just a waiting game. I have my screening in 3 weeks and for all I know I could turn up and no heart beat will be found, I am however, staying optimistic. Well atleast trying to be.

My husband has been such a support. He has so stepped up around the house. I haven't had to do any house work, not even cooking. At the moment he is doing it all. It just shows me that he wants this as much as me. I am glad he was at the appointment with me to actually hear the doctor tell me to slow down and take it easy.

Any hows it all going with you? I guess you would have finished the provera now. How long after taking it will you cycle start? I hope its all going ahead smoothly. How is school going? Are you keeping up on it all OK? Thats my biggest struggle I think. As I am sure with you. Trying to play catch up. I have no catch up just trying to keep up. I just keep thinking only 10 weeks to go till exams. Sad huh? I am a senior too this year. I plan to either take next semester off or do 1 class, if the baby still comes . If I do 1 class next semester I will only have 2 classes left. But right now its all left up to fate. Our plans are to have the baby in October and head over to the States in November so we are there for Thanksgiving and stay for Christmas. Which state are you in?

Anyway take care......Di

Midijola,

OH NO I am so sorry about your appointment!! Don't lose faith yet! Bleeding and spotting can happen in pregnancy and is actually more common than you may think. Especially since you have seen the heart beating, the chances of miscarriage are significantly reduced. I know how scary that can be though. My first miscarriage occurred after we had already seen the heartbeating and everything, and I know how devastating it is, I really do. I don't mean to sound pesimistic though, becaue you have not miscarried yet!!!! My mother had a lot of bleeding like that with one of her pregnancies too, and everything turned out ok.

Just take it easy as your doctor said, and pray for the best. You will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers!! Just hold on to hope and have faith, and know that even if the worse doest happen, you did everything right and everything possible for this baby.

Please keep me updated, and know that I am here for you whenever you want to talk!!! Your uterus hasn't opened at all yet since you haven't physically seen any blood in your underwear, so that's a good sign, because the uterus must open before a miscarriage. Keep the faith midijola!!!! Good luck!!

Hi Praying,

Yes, yesterday I went and had my appointment. All looked really good and we saw the baby moving and saw and heard the heart beat. Except when he looked further he could see that i have had a bleed in my uterus. Only small but enough for him to tell me that I have a 'threatened miscarriage'.

He asked if I have had any pain or bleeding. I havent had bleeding but I was woken up about 2 days ago, early in the morning with some sharp pain. He said that was probably it. I now must take it very easy he says for the next 3-4 wks. No vacuuming, no lifting, no grocery shopping. I have had niggling discomfort in the same place that I felt the pain since I had the US.(He pushed in so hard I dont know if that has triggered anything.

He said if I start to bleed or have any pain to call him and he will be able to sneak me in somewhere. He said also that if that does happen that nothing could be done but atleast we will know.

I have still been told to go and get all other testing done, that everything might be OK as long as I take it easy. He described it like if you were hit in the arm and got a really big brusie. The area needs time to heal so the blood can dispurse around the body.

The only problem is that my next appointment is not until April 1, almost 4 wks away for my First Trimester Screening. Anything can happen in that time.

Because of the little bit of pain I have been having I am not very confident....but its just a waiting game.

Hope the provera works well for you....Di
