| ecchi - I get the feeling we are talking to a blank space here. This windmill person, like many others, never come back on promptly in response to a reply. Bad manners is bad manners. No more of this for me I'm done. There'll be no more postings from me trying to help people on these type of sites. Adios, cheerio, goodbye. |

| Another thing I thought of this morning (perhaps a little hair brained) is if you can prove you are not the person they are chasing and they continue to harrass you perhaps it is possible to file a restraining order. Not sure if this would be possible or much use. |

| windmill - further to ecchi's post re debt collection. What you say they are doing is illegal under the national consumer credit laws. If you go to a site called Consumer Action Law Centre .com.au and look up fact sheet & links section FS 12 "I'm being hassled by a debt collector".They have links there also to the Govt. agency that handles problems. As ecchi said get as much information from them as possible. Things like contact name, telephone number, email, business address and if possible record the conversation. Most importantly get all your facts about your rights on what they are doing written down as well as the recommended approach by the relevant consumer law body before you take them on. Like Transpacific may be calling from outside Aust. and think they are immune from the law. Sometimes you need to be like a fox with these people and give them the impression that you may pay them in order to get extra info from them. Remember you have rights under the law. Best wishes with it. |

| Threatening or abusive debt collections are illegal so ensure you get their full name (probably an alias) and firm details then report them to the authorities. There is a department that deals specifically with this issue but not sure which one. |

| I don't have a debt, but I have been continually hassled by Transpacific. They are chasing a debt incurred by someone with the same name but a different birthdate. I go throught the same process with every call. We establish that I am not the person they are looking for, yet a couple of weeks later the calls start again. They are often threatening and abusive! |

| I have had dealings with the company since 5 years now; I had a debt from GE bought by Transpacific/ Byond Global with an out standing balance of $22,570. I played smart wit them by making them beg for the Moolah all these years as they kept on calling me day in and out offering me many payment offers , huge discounts……………. I kept them guessing as I have been changing my phone and address but these guys must say are good at tracing and chasing us …………………. But the best thing with them is that they don’t charge any interest on the money owning unlike other collection house and banks which has been charging heavy interest rates and penalty charges …….. I just cant imagine paying interest on an debt which I had incurred 10 years back………………… .. finally last week I had a last laugh on this when I managed to fool them by negotiating a best deal by producing them some b...... hardship letter which they requested for before offering me a settlement to pay just a peanuts………….. any guesses of how much my deal was mates ……………………⠀¦.. haaaaaa just for $ 11,000………………⠀¦â€¦ I am free from my debts and that makes me laugh and laugh and laugh. |

There is no point contacting the Banking Ombudsman - Transpacific do not come under their remit.
Has anyone contacted the original lender or credit card provider to see what they say? Or do they just wash their hands of it? |

| as a side issue i had a friend who got into strife with his c/card and was heading up the river without a paddle until he started to put his whole income onto the card. This enabled him to to make large payments around $600 p/w thereby stopping the bank from closing the card. At the same time he continued living off the card but ended up without having fees and eventually had it showing zero owing to the extent he didn't realise that the card owed him money |

| Hi, What was your result? FYI You are legally obliged to cancel all direct debits yourself or pay fees involved and would have received statements from the bank, if you suddenly moved then you have a responsibility to forward your mail. That being said the bank would have waived the fees for you but if you want the whole thing sorted you should contact then banks customer relations department and file a Freedom of Info request on your account. All credit card accounts have a memo system which records notes on every single call u make to them and they must keep your records for 7 years. If they have written rude or subjective comments about them you can sue (it has been done successfully many times in OZ) and they can completely remove the blip in your credit rating. Further, you can ask Baycorp to place a file note verifying your dispute - be clear and professional no lender wants to leand to a trouble maker or blame-shifter and all major lenders are reasonable. I work in commercial and consumer finance for years and this situation is all too common, always ask for a letter in writing when you pay anything off or close an acct. |

I have had nothing but abusive phone calls from Transpacific Debt Recorvery.
Don't bother contacting the ACC & ASIC, they pass the buck to the Fairtrading people. These people are untouchable!!! |

It's very comforting to see other people are having the same problems as us with transpacific.
We have requested validation about twelve times; they just don't have the paperwork to prove they own the debt.
It just feels very dodgy.
Our plan is to wait it out. Just a shame we have to put up with repeated calls from their call centre.
I would be interested to know what percentage of the original debt other people are being asked to pay. They have asked to pay 80% of the original amount. Has anybody managed to get less? |

| OMG i cant believe im the only person out there with this problem, i spoke with them transpacific and i did not say i can not pay but the said send a email to roger.harris@beyondglabal .com and explain the situation................ ..well i did that and the email was returned! All in all we are talking to brick walls. They ask for my date of birth and i refuse to give personal details over the phone due to fraud, I say dont speak with these people and go to banking ombusman. |

| I know how you feel...i have a guy from Transpacific calling me most days. i dont even have a debt with them, but a friend of mine does & i was down as a reference. His name is Chris & he threatens to credit list my friend & goes on & on about it. I have tried to let him know i pass the messages on, went to hanging up on him & now do not answer my mobile to any private numbers. i also looked somewhat into this & believe they are a "call centre" affliated with Repcol. Do a google search on repcol transpacific & see if you can speak with someone who understands you & lets you speak. Good luck! |

I have been googling info on Transpacific, as we have had countless harrassing, intimidating and threatening phone calls from them and I am convinced that others must have had the same problems. Tonight it came to a head when both my husband and I were repeatedly threatened. We will be lodging complaints with ASIC & the ACCC and are also considering informing the police.
What chris_nonis says is entirely true. They seem to have no authority or legal standing, but use threats, intimidation and stand-over tactics to get their money. Well, we've had enough. |
