Even though it makes Christopher's day to argue and I get extremely bored with the two of you constantly at it, I can understand why he does it with you.
I'll go slowly so even you can follow:
You only mention about 3 or four on this so rightly or wrongly it seems reasonable to me to assume you don't have any or many more than this, ESPECIALLY in view of you accusing me for being tight lipped about the companies I mention here.
AFTER you mentioned you have about twenty, I said it is ridiculous to have that many. I also said the way to go is to pick the best of the best and I mentioned the best resource stocks to be in. If you have several industrials, I doubt if too many of them can be included in the best of the best. Pharmaceutical type stocks seem to be an exception. What else? You can tell me if you think there are many others.
If you pick what you think are the best Copper stocks for example, why not just have the best one or two? That will allow you place orders for what you believe are the best of something else. Zinc for example. With KZL you are getting both in the one company.
I'm not sure but I think this is something similar to what Todd was indicating.
To sum it up: Diversification is good but it's dumb to go to extremes.
As for long term. Depends on your idea of 'long.'
Mine is at least a couple of years. "My" "Conspiracy" "Theories" tell me, that is wishful thinking. I'll be pleased if things can continue how they are for the rest of this year. I don't hold more than a 50/50 chance of that. The US government and the "Federal" Reserve are getting anxious. But people like you have no idea of how to connect the dots. Don't worry, you are far from alone. |

It's ridiculous to hold 20 stocks. The name of the game is to pick the best indicies then pick the movers and shakers within in that. That should give you a portfolio about 6.
"How do I know how many you own" you say yet you also say "you are not diversifying"....do you know what you are saying??
I hold some 20 stocks because i see alot of opportunities currently.. alot of these are financial and mining stocks.. yet i still hold ag and other types too...
Some of these are long term holds.. some are short term.. |

diversifying is great if you want to limit your risk. It's great if you don't keep a close eye on things. It also great at limiting your reward. Isn't that what managed funds are for?

Jacko knows what I'm talking about, Legsio. He has his secrets too. I don't know why he doesn't mention them on this. Could be for the same reason I won't. Which is, too many richardheads on this. Looks like the main one could have gone though.
I also spend a lot of time looking at charts and the fundamentals of the ones I like. There are not too many on this that have any time for me and the feeling is mutual so I keep them to myself.
I'll just tell you this much: Copper, Zinc, Uranium, Oil and Silver if gold can break $1,000 and stay there. You are not diversifying. |

There are not many resource stock that have not risen since this correction started in late November. This is only one of them and whilst it has quadrupled in price during this time, which is a better than average effort, it is not the big deal you seem to think it is unless you have it on margin.
I have other stocks, both bought and on my watch list, that are not on margin that make this one's rise look a pimple on an elephant's bum and also have good fundamentals.
Get over it. There are bigger apples on the tree. You seem it just not be aware of it. |

bruce...i bought this stock because i saw its upside,....
As i said the day i bought it, it had nothing to do with you...

I have a 10 point trailing stop... like i always do...
stopped out at 1.21
Back in just before close at 1.14
