Re:Dyesol Reply to this message
Do not believe Dyesol's global, strategic partnership in solar steel by the coil coating process with Corus (Tata) - supported by Welsh Assembly Government has been achieved without research.

The development of the glass façade modules plant in Turkey with Italian consortium (Permasteelisa
/ERG/Dyesol).

Some developments seem to be coming along in Korean.

The Australian Army seems impressed with their use of the Dyesol products.

Certainly some concern re sale of shares by a major holder and long term backer, without little public knowledge as to why, however they still remain major shareholder.

At moment, we all sitting waiting...

Re:Dyesol Reply to this message
Is anyone aware of a freely available and credible review of the commercial prospects for Dyesol's DSC and closely competing technologies? The wait for announcement of a large-scale commercial deal - as distinct from small sales of materials - is getting longer and longer, while presumably competing technoliges are also improving?

Dyesol and Corus Power Through Third Milestone

Trimmed from their 12 February 2009 Market Release

The third milestone meeting of the collaborative project between Corus Colors and Dyesol supported by the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) was held at the PV Accelerator on the Corus Shotton site on 11 February 2009. The project is developing products, processes and facilities to produce Dye Solar Cells integrated onto strip steel in a coil coating line.

WAG enthusiastically accepted the report and presentations and noted that the project has once again exceeded its performance schedule as well as being on budget.

Dyesol and Corus presented jointly the achievements of the past quarter followed by a facility tour which demonstrated the new continuous process pilot plant installed by Corus in January and the Dyesol titania paste preparation plant.

Ahead of the milestone requirements, the team were able to demonstrate advanced substrates designed to achieve the 25 year corrosion resistance specification for the product.

The project team at Shotton now houses over 20 engineers and scientists in an integrated team to accelerate bringing the product to market well in advance of original project schedules.

An aggressive accelerated test and approval program is being implemented this quarter in advance of real-life testing starting in the northern summer.

Re:Dyesol Reply to this message
DSC Performance Breakthrough

Press release advising R&D team has demonstrated a novel tandem DYE Solar Cell with over 10% efficiency in average light conditions.

Dr Gavin Tulloch said 'This level of performance, when translated to facade product would increase the power by about one third and truly demonstrate the cost effectiveness of DSC in the facade PV market. "

Further: 'Conventional PV technologies today still rely on feed in tariffs or other support mech an isms to achieve the economic viability wheres Dye Solar Cells can be directly incorporated into high end building products that do not need rely on such subsidies. The products have architectural appeal and performance in a market where there is little competition replacing high cost building products.'

Re:Dyesol Reply to this message
Dyesol has travelled down up, down up since last post here, seems back to where were a year ago in price, with current 30 day high 1.085, 30 day low 0.830

Announcement of commencing next stage in integrating their Dye Solar Cells into steel sheeting in joint project with Welsh Assembly Government.

Aim to achieve 25 year life of the steel panels with lower production costs.

DYE seems still progressing forward...

Suspect quite a few particularly in rural areas, interested in cost to replace their corrugated iron roofing panels with DYE solar power generating roofing panels ;-)

Any thoughts how these highly publicized solar panels by private company Nanosolar compare with Dyesol?

Re:Dyesol Reply to this message
Consider some of Gelbaums recent investment choices.
Leading edge, next generation solar PV technologies - Open Energy, Dyesol, Emcore. These technologies allow for cheaper production of PV panels.
Then consider his investment in the leading solar panel installer in the US - Ascent ASTI. (have a look at the recent charts on all these companies)

Couple this with the investment in EVM. The glass panel array required to heat the air is expected to be 5km diameter. That is an enormous area to cover with glass panels.
Put the picture together and the installation costs versus generating capacity look a whole lot better for one of these towers....
