Greg,
Thanks for you post. I decided on another trade since I have a large position in LYC. I bought cobalt miner Geovic mining corp. It was on the move down and I kept buying. I started buying at 3.40 and finished at 3.04. I averaged in at 3.26 . The very next day the stock rebounded to 3.35. I'm very happy with that. Cobalt is not considered an REE but is used in Hybrid car batteries and other high tech, missile, space defense, and aircraft. It's one of the few large mines not controlled by Russia. Please do your own research.
Thanks Again for your help, dave |

gvazz,
I had trouble search out these foreign companies until my etrade broker told me to use global markets tab, then search under domestic shares for the particular company. I came up with this under Arafura: Trading symbol (Q0461Y117 OTC) ARAFURA RESOURCES NPV and (ARAFF OTCBB) ARAFURA RESOURCES NL SHS. Check these two symbols out. I can't tell you if they are actual stocks or tracking symbols. I would call your broker first and ask.
Good luck dfranka |

dfranka,
It seems there is no tracking stock for ARU on pink sheets. So we cannot buy in US, unless your broker allows to trade directly on ASX.
I bought LYC at 0.70, so already seeing some good profits..Wont be selling for long time. There are reports in india that govt should put a ban on incandescent lamps. If that happens, REEs will shoot up.
I would like to know your opinion on GWG.V (Vancouver ex). Noticed this long time back, but i was not very serious. Looks like the only company with near term REE production. |

Hi everyone
Did anyone notice someone lining up to buy 610,000 shares of LYc at .88. Has been lining up for a while.. Does this person think he can possibly strike at that price? OR just a decoy to make market depth look good?
Can anyone advice..? |

Good morning Dave..on numbers alone it would look a golden buying op for ARU - but are you not concerned about the stock dropping around 30% in the past 2 days ? It appears to be way more than mere profit taking and i would need to know what is behind the steep drop before considering buying them.

Eliz, This doesn't have anything to do with US pinks. US is a just a tracking stock I've been told by my broker. Other board members have suggested that LYSKF is controlled by the Market Maker he simply tracks what is happening with lYC.aux. Our Average volume is around 544K per day and yesterday our volume was 608K. I own a boat load of LYSCF on the US. When I bought in I did not effect the share price. Infact we don't see any volume during our trading day. The volume and new share price is posted about 2 hours after the close just as the AUX is oppening.
Ospraie has to be unloading its final shares. I want to say that Ospraie is stupid, but a profit is a profit and I have seen investor ride stocks up and down. Profit taking is alway smart. I just don't see a better investment than REE's . I believe there is huge upside on REE's. Wait until brokers and traders talk about REE's like they do about Gold,Silver,Nickel,Alum,U ran,Oil and others. REE's are also environmentally Green stocks that won't be ignored.
According to Lynas corp's Web site they will start mining operations middle of 2007. This will generate another lucritive press release for their stock holders.
Is this my chance to jump into Aru. please advise.

Hi Eliz Trade thanks for your reply.
One thing i would say is that perhaps the "SDubstantial shareholding" notices might only make it to the ASX a day or so later than the actual transactions occur - and if this is the case - the notices wont appear until tomorrow or Monday perhaps. If it is Ospraie unloading further - they would have to be getting to the bottom of their collective barrel - which would signal - to me at least - no further drag or hold backs on the share price as we go forward.
Buyers outnumbering sellers 3/1 has to be a positive indicator also. Thanks again

Hi Gary
I wasn't inferring or suggesting that because you are not from Aus you shouldn't post here - far from it. I meant that perhaps you would not be able to advise me of the impact on LYC on the ASX in regard to the convertible notes you mentioned earlier. Please don't think i was suggesting you should not be here.
I;d put today's drop down to the overall market copped a bit of a whack today, and lyc are/were up over 20% for the week - and on top of the "speeding ticket" they got last week or so. All in all it looks very rosy indeed i believe.
Sorry again for any confusion...and thanks for your postings. |

aust_fan,
The share price is being hammered, I could say that it was expected but certainly I did not expect to see this degree of drop. It is way over the top imo.
There is only 2 things that have changed;
- A lot of pressure is now on potential JV partners and management. Previously (sub $1-1.30 AUD) JV partners would have been negotiating on great terms, either management or potential partners now have to give. If management do a deal too cheap the potential exists for shareholders to vote against JV. The pressure is really on and a quick deal would make all parties look good. It is my belief that sp will head north making work much harder for both teams if they do not seal a deal.
- The profile of Arafura has been lifted greatly over the last few weeks (as an example this thread was pretty much all Lynas), we have had 2 German spruikers spike the stock and create huge interest. As such we now have a global awareness that did not exist previously.
Unfortunately we have had a sell recommendation placed on the stock purely on the basis that price had risen too much.
Interestingly the sell recommendation also included a buy recommendation when the price dropped...
As such I believe the stock will again resume it's upward trend but I am not in the business of giving advice; hence everyone will need to make there own decisions.
If it is of interest, I will be a buyer. |

Hello greggroach2003
22mil volume today made out primarily of 5m XT, 4m XT, 8.5m XT, 691377 XT, 831493XT. A whooping 19mil shares!! Since there were no announcement of substantial shareholding changes, (JP Morgan and Goldman S ruled out)Looks like Ospraie is unloading somemore. But with such single high volume cross over transactions, to who are they unloading to. Perhaps this may have something to do with pinksheets in the US!! Can anyone shine some light onto this??
Real volume without these large single transactions would then only be a mere 3mil. Market depth looks good with buyers outnumbering sellers by 3 to 1 on average.
I believe there will be more interest generated for LYC and REE as we move on. |

Hi Greg,
I've posted this question, since I'm confused myself... ;-)
Yes, you are correct, I live in Germany and maybe should not post in this thread at all, but my interest is in REEs and I'd like to know as much as possible from as many other sources around the world as possible.
Re: the convertible notes, there's a discussion here that a compulsory conversion of the notes and a subsequent sell off of these 87.5 M shares could cause the stock price to plunge, at least temporarily. So a few people actually seem to be waiting for this "good opportunity" to happen, in order to buy some more shares at low prices.
I personally do not think that such a sudden sell off will occur, but have too little knowledge of these things and thought someone here in this thread could clarify the issue for me.
Thanks, Gary |

Good afternoon everyone
Gary - I'm a little confused over your post re the convertible notes. How would this affect the overall LYC share price - and particularly in Australia...althgouh i'm aware you may not be in Australia ?
What is the general view of today's turnover of over 22m shares ?...should anything be read into this. End result was a 3c drop - after they had been down as much as 6c thru the day.
I'd be very interested in your opinions. Thanks

"Marathon Resources is concentrating primarily on its advanced uranium-REE-polymetallic deposit located in the Northern Flinders Ranges, covered by Exploration License 3258."........Taken from it's website.
What is uranium-REE-polymetallic? And does this stock interest you? Seems to be in fire and has it's uranium in the right state (SA) |

Have a question re: LYC.
Seems to me that a number of people are somewhat reluctant to buy further shares right now because of the looming conversion issue ->
"Listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange: 35,000 convertible notes of A$1,000 for 87,500,000 shares (compulsory conversion if VWOP over 80 c for 1 month in first year.)"
Could this pose a threat to LYC share prices in the near future? Does anyone know how many notes, if any, have been converted already & where to look for such information?
Thanks, Gary |

s4074433,
Point me to the molybdenum thread where you are discussing it and I am happy to discuss; I am happy to explain my reasons. I believe they are valid (I do hold stocks in other areas).
In regards Bio I have done a fair bit of research but am needing to talk to relation who has a masters in Biotech from UK and currently working in Norway in this industry.
As I explained previously, my concern in this industry is the absolute power of the big Co's and the risk of litigation sending companies broke. A lot of money will be made here but research will need to be very very good. |

| I think because Ospraey (???) is below 5 % now that is the main reason it's running today. There is also some profit taking in Arafura and probably funds will be placed in LYC shares, just a guess. I'm holding both ARU and LYC. |

| LYC is on the march! (It's reached $1.20 at 10.45am today!) LYC have announced who the mining contract has been awarded to today, so perhaps that has something to do with it? |

I respect your decision to stay away from molybdenum, but can I ask why? I think it has elements similar to the rare earth elements, but again there are also enough differences to exercise caution.
I don't know the best place to do research, because the industry is not really as mature as uranium mining at the moment (even though it probably has been around longer). I certainly can't tell you about the US market, but if we are talking about the Australian market, I believe that they are producing some good research in solar power. I keep saying this, but my philosophy is really to diversify (because this is an industry that I believe has potential) and try and cover all possible angles. With respect to this, you've got solar, wind, tidal, geothermal, clean coal and natural fuel (please feel free to add more). Companies I am aware of involved in this are in solar, wind, geothermal and natural fuel. Tell me what you're more interested and I'll see if I can point you in the alternative energy sector.
As for Biotechs, the Australian industry is way behind the US on this, although there are clearly outstanding research being produced in Australian. However, the model is usually based on universitite producing the initial research, then having to build a company to take the research further. Therefore, it pays to have an eye on the major universities. Again it comes down to what sort of area you like (like your REE with mining), but I think Australia has a distinct advantage to the US in that stem cell research is less restricted. Can't tell you too much more unless I know what you're interested. Just like you won't be able to tell me much more about molybdenum I guess. |
