Re:Rare Earth Elements (PREVIEW)
The whole Uranium Mining industry is a dog.
GR: Could be - whats it got to do with LYC?
Ethical investors avoid the industry alltogether and the percentage of ethical-conscious investor is undergoing enourmous growth this decade and will continue to into the next decade.
GR: REE is part of the enviro friendly sector with hybrids being a case in point. If "ethical conscious" investor is "growing enourmously" - how is an undustry that contributes to hybrids going to be avoided? It seems the poster is either very very confused - knows nothing on this topic - or is trying to down ramp for his own jealous reasons.
The infrastructure isnt there to support the industry either.
GR: Yes it is.
The industry is undergoing enormous growth - and as alreayd mentioned alternative sources of REE are being sought every day to keep up with growing demand.
You can take the word of psstocks who seemingly talks out of sheer envy at having missed the REE boat - or for proper and valid info - visit Lynascorporation.com.au. |

Nothing to do with Uranium at all. More than likely there are better places to park the money while RE mobs get into production which is still 9 - 12 months away in LYC case. There was a well documented delay in LYC having to seek another processing plant in Malaysia - which has already been done; and a minor setback followed - but its all been factored in to the price some months ago.
Its worth ignoring the comments of biased posters who dont know as much as they think they do.
Would you take the word of a "yellow cake nut" - or the CEO who recently bought 1.5 millions shares (not options) -shares out of his own pocket at around $1.09 - $1.10. I know who i'd be believing and who I'd be ignoring...and who I do ignore. The Directors purchase is in the announcements for the company. You can also check out the investor presentation which shows that within only a few years the demand for REE will far and away outstrip known supply. Add in that whoever wins the US election is in favour of green and hybrids - it shows that some posters to this forum - post out of envy of others doing well - and their comments have liitle or no basis in fact. There will be dips along the way - as with any share - but mid to long term - they will be fine. I have no intention of selling at this time..and load up as the chances arise.
Check out the announcement/presentation for yourself...dyor as they say. |

| That's very interesting, but it didn't answer my question. LYC don't do uranium, but they are into rare earths. |

The whole Uranium Mining industry is a dog.
Ethical investors avoid the industry alltogether and the percentage of ethical-conscious investor is undergoing enourmous growth this decade and will continue to into the next decade.
The infrastructure isnt there to support the industry either.
There are over a hiundred companies doing the same thing and only about 4 of them are actuaslly being run as a sustainable business. They are therefore being exposed as shell companies jumping on the band-wagon who do nothing but generate executive salaries.
The industry is very unpopular and the hype has died off which adds to the continued slumping of such shares accross the board.
Currently, within this generation anyway, Yellow Cake is a very bad specualtive investment. |

| What's behind the continuing LYC price drop? Today the market is up yet LYC continues to fall. Is there some info behind it that I don't have? |

Hiya all,
Certainly a strange environment wer'e trading in atm.
Best news for aru, and getting better, yet co is at lowest zone for 12mth range!
As far as direct rare-earth rates, with a subscription of some '000's $. www.metal-pages.com is the way.
Can still access headings for stories if not a subscriber, which gives the 'jist' of where it's going.
Next best, is the lyc as noted.
Comparing notes on other ree co's, i find aru very open about where ther'e heading, and relatively certain on profitability!
Note that phos rate in todays news, is around half some sale values in world-market. Suggest to do sums with higher rate; equals the ree revenue! + adds some $150m to bottom line.
Not bad for a $120m +/- comp cap!
Blue sky??
Homework req.
Cheers :) |

G'day Jcho. All is well this end mate...family going well...footy season almost finished - now for the cricket !! Your little one must be getting into everything now...walking talking etc. I trust its all good with the family.
The global economy is still to be trodden like walking on egg shells. Its trying to muster a bit of a move up - but v v unconvincing and a fear of the unknown as in what else is to come - who's going under and taking who else with them...who needs - and will get bailed out? To much uncertainty to be playing up big sums right now. Stick with what (sectors) and who you know. Been dabbling with LYC - but keeping a core holding for 12 months time - or whenever they take off..and agree re ARU - But I'd prefer to see a bit more certainly in financial markets for them..but as for shares on issue - they are the way to go for now. Will they ned to issue more for financing agreements or future cap raising ? Thats part of the great unknowns. Still both are excellent value at these levels - without a doubt. Its the bigger pic that counts. |

hi all: raelph - welcome. greggg is right you can find weekly RE prices at lynas web page. follow link to 'what are rare earths' ...> 'what are their prices'.
gregg - how things? world still looks like *** . ive been playing in iron ore notably an old fav. gbg - great company and great trading range. still think if you have lyc then should probably have a smidgin in aru b/c if lyc works then aru will be dragged along but should really perform b/c much fewer shares on issue. probably needs to raise more capital in the next 1-2 qtrs judging by cash balance at last qtly and also forecast exploration spend in the current qtr. that may provide an even more attractive entry point. apart from that not much news. kids growing up. hows the fmaily? jc |

Hi everyone,
Wow, this is an impressive long-term thread!
I've been hearing a lot about the potential of the rare earth market, and have been doing some research over the past week or so. It seems that there are four publicly traded companies that are heavily invested in the RE space: Lynas and Arafura in Australia and Avalon and Great Western Minerals Group in Canada.
What are some of your opinions as to the stocks of these companies? Would you invest heavily in one, or balance between all of them? |

G'day thre Raelph
Notihng really happening re production yet..if you followed either - you could either trade the ranges or sit on the side a little longer., depending on your strategy and outlook.
I'm pretty sure you can obtain basket prices at lynascorp.com.au - but if not, I'm sure Jcho, REF or REJ can steer you in the right direction. Good luck.
G'day Jcho REF REJ - I trust all is well. |

Sorry ..forgot to introduce myself.
Have been in LYC from a long time ago, but did sell out some time ago and now was reading old messages from 2007 from you guys....seems you are still messaging. Great going. Nice to see people keep up.
Anyway I went up to ;more recent notices and decided to add to conversation. Started with question...where can I keep up to date with rare earth basket prices?
Have notice that you guys ...jc, reynard, and gregg are the most prolific and consistent messagers. Glad to read your blogs. |

hi rej, ref and gregg: rej be patient. aru is ticking the boxes and by doing so increasing the certainty relating to nolans e.g. recovery rates, chemical inputs, grades, etc. etc.
if RE's play out as we expect i.e. the world is short and the chinese become inporters then the *** anese or even Chinese will do what it takes to ensure nolans get up and running. they will be interested in offtake. they also have access to the cheapest funding in the world.
as i said before in some ways i prefer aru to lyc at current relative levels. if re's play out as expected and lyc do well they will drag aru along. the advantage with aru is that if you increase the vlaue of the deposit by $100m you double the share price. if you increase lyc's deposit by 100m you get an extra 15c per share as there are sooo many share on issue now. also unlike aru lyc now has commissioning risk. lyc had to arrange financing when re's were not hot. aru may get significantly better funding opportunities as the RE users outside of China get squeezed.
at 75c i cant see any downside unless the wheels fall of RE's. if we didnt have a credit crisis ARU would be much higher so take advantage of the current opportunities in my opinion.

G'day Jcho, ref and rej.
I think there may still be concerns around funding Rej. Not so much around ARU and what it has - but how it will arrange suitable and stable funding going forward, which is pretty much the issue facing any mob trying to develop its assets (mines). Secured funding is probably more like the sort of announcement you blokes are after...imo.
LYC is still a waiting game - and trading the ranges i guess - if you're that way inclined. Patience will be rewarded with either of these. No doubt in my mind, at all. |

Hi jc,
The more i look at the latest aru report, the more i'm baffled at the lack of sp growth!
I don't think shareholders have had better news!
To find a new 'major resource', and still have more up-side, is imo a fanastic outlook for the company.
You wouldn't think so, if one checks the historical price graph!
jc, i would guess that funds WILL flow into the co as it reaches its periodic goals, especially with the security and diversity of resource reported to-date.
Theres still plenty of cash out there, imo.
Cheers :) |

| hi rej, gregg, ref and others: nice report from aru. stock still suffering from lack of funding and deteriorating funding outlook due to the credit crisis but the underlying asset and th eudnerlying RE market looks better and better. i know the macro funds are dumping resources due to concerns about China with the latest PMI numbers crashing from 52 to 48. Credit Suisse say the China slowdown is confirmed and thats it for commodities BUT there was no mention of the fact that industry has shut down for th eolympics, business visas havent been issued fro mearly July preventing the usual buyers placing pre-xmas orders etc. etc. i know things are looking tought and we still havent seen a bottom in many of the headwinds we are experiencing but i hoped back into some aru. hope your all well. jc |

Alkane (ALK) are also developing REE with ANSTO in Dubbo & Lucas Heights. They have already sent samples of niobium, zirconium & REE to potential buyers. It is claimed that one motor vehicle makers are looking to purchase future production 4 batteries in hybrid cars. ALK also has several other interests , mainly gold.See Eureeka Report.
