Re:Rare Earth Elements Reply to this message
Go all cash - term deposits at 8%..and wait.

On one hand I'm not sad to see Hedge Funds going ar$e over..particularly Ospraie..but other HFs stuffed my first go at BHP...and made us wary enough to take a profit at from $35.50 to $41 last time..when they went on to nearly $50. Just never knew when they'd go short - so we covered out loss, took our profit and bailed. Its good to see the funds copping a bit of their own back..but not so good for the smallies like most of us who get whacked as well.

Won't use leveraging again....got out ok - (with a lot of luck) - wont tempt fate again. From now its my/our cash - or we dont buy.

One thing in BHPs favour is that ther SP took a bucketting after the RIO takeovers talks started. Now that china owns 11% (?) that should pretty much kill any talk of takeover from here on.

Re:Rare Earth Elements Reply to this message
I'm also glad to see you hanging in there. I might have gone the other way - unloaded OZL and BNB and maybe held
BHP...coz they had been pretty good to you (albeit a shiit div)...but its v v hard to tell right now. Cash is king - but i couldnt help myself on LYC and if they keep going - I may have to tape my own fingers - or keep away form the screen. I read on HC that Ospraie should be all done by tomorrow - so hopefully next week will get our rightful rebound. Its about time you gave these a very decent look too.

Just not sure where the India China growth story is going right now - but BHP have many other irons in the fire. BNB - the only question on them i see is will they go out the back door or will they somehow survive? OZL - dunno why - but the market certainly rates them as on the nose right now.

I'm still ok on AMP and ANZ - by virtue of both Div Reinvest. Plan and that we have had them both for so long now...but even they are looking shaky. Crystal Ball would be v v f handy right now! Hang In there old son, and say hi to Dulcie for me !

torski,

First go to - http://www.australian-shares.com/

Then, down the page a bit on the left, there's a box that says "what are you looking for".
- In that box type "molybdenum".

then below that, click on "something in the ground".

then click on search database.

Re:Rare Earth Elements Reply to this message
To be honest Pirate - I haven't re calculated it yet. We have done a few buy sells along the way - and i think our last count was they owe us around 43 - 44 c a share. Recent buy wont change it a lot as its oly around 10% of what we already held...maybe around 46 now - not sure.

I had to get outta the soup kitchen..I was there for a feed - but you were only there to pick up all the old ladies with no teeth...and the ladies didn't have nay either..LMAO.

Whats your plan with BNB OZL and BHP? The wife suggested we should have another run at BHP the other day around the $40...I told her she could go alone on that one...guess who's in the good books now they dropped $6 since then?

Spot on comment..and at the moment LYC have little or no revenue as they are not in production yet. I think they are worth at least 80c now... so I paid it. Its all about next year. A number of very healthy contracts have been signed with a lot more on the way...and 75 - 80c will have a lot of people asking themselves - why didn't they?

As Jcho said - Patience is the key. May not suit you as a trader - but for me as an investor = (and rarely trader) - suits my outlook perfectly.

G'day Jcho

As long as you know...or have a good idea of the story behind the drop - i dont see any real cause for concern - other than how much do we top up? Never thought I;d be able to get in again at these levels - and still v v happy with yesterdays purchase.

Jax - Not sure what you;re saying - but there are no drama - nor have i heard any rumour - specific to LYC - aside from a bit of rubbish posted here from time to time from downrampers. Everything is being hit by funds drying up and folding up in the case of Ospraie - and LYC is no exception. I didn't nominate a particular day when the selling would end - but at these levels - i'd rather be in again and see a liitle more drop - than not buy again and kick myself when they go back to wherever they go back to.

Re:Rare Earth Elements Reply to this message
g'day gregg: your right about osparie. i see the hedge fund flows. im not sure if its osperie themselves or one or a number of other hedge funds. as you probalby know a lot of resources hedge funds are liquidating to either reduce gearing or meet redemptions or both. LYC is suffering from this - its not yet mainstream for local instos. this means it will get cheap and we have to be patient. regards
John

"Have you got some links on the Ospraie sell-offs in the past Gregg - or should we just take your "word" for it?"

Firstly - the people who realy know this stock know they dont need to take my word for anything...they are already aware of ospraie and its substantial holdings and sellings in LYC over the past 1 or 2 years.

"Afterall most of their selling I understood to have been last week."

Flick - your supposedly the researcher - it shouldn't be that hard to find. Most of the selling was done by Ospraie in the time frame I mentioned - not in the past week. The change of substantial holdings were lodged at that time - (1 - 2 years ago)...not sure how you find them now...DYOR I guess.

I also said I believe this weeks sell has been Ospraie - I didnt say I'm 100% certain....but it certainly fits with other matters I already posted.

"Out of interest can I ask you why you went for LYSCF and not ARU or was this not a consideration?"
First learned about LYSCF on the Message Board of Apollo Gold Corp (AGT) AMEX exchange on Feb. 22, 2007 and started due diligence and bought first lot of 10,000 on March 2, 2007. Continued buying March thru September 2007 and now have 112,861 shares @$1.09 average.
Awhile back my son said "You have too much money in one stock. I replied "This is an investment, NOT A STOCK PLAY!" Back then with the holdings I had then, IF this reaches $2.33/share I will become a member of the million air club. If it bombs, then my kids inheritance will be less. This world slow down is attributed to the Bush Administration's failed policies as the start of it all!

Later I found ARU on this message board and found that symbol was on a Canadian Stock Exchange which I cannot trade through an American Exchange.
You probably can check the U.S. LYCAS message board by the symbol LYSCF.PK

Well worth a read - and will quickly dispel any ridiculous comments from down rampers.

G'day Jcho REF REJ

I've read that the sell down could well be our old friends "Ospraie"...who had a habit of many big sell downs a year or so back - and as soon as they finished, the price rebounded very strongly every time. The "head Ospraie" has said the fund dropped 41% last month (check the figures perhaps) and will be closing down...hence the liquidation of its holdings. Lehman Brothers also have, or had something to do with Ospraie. As they are no longer "Substantial Holders" we wont see any notices to confirm - but it makes sense to me that they would be behind it. On that basis - I'm very confident - and again, our CEO digging v deep into his own kick is an excellent sign to me.

At these levels had to have another dip myself : )
