| Crazyfool, I am at a complete loss to see why you and others think the professor and I are the same person. There is no reason to think that. What is your reason if you have one? |

RE: "BHP pulls out of RIO because of the debt but indicates they are looking to buy so the guessing game has begun - who are they going to gobble up?
Candidates so far are OZL, FML and PNA
obviously they will be looking for a business with low debt levels, decent resoources and a cheap price (well - that's everything at the moment)"
Any update(s) please Reynard? |

RE: Anyone got revenue forecasts etc for OZ please? eg
"However, its Prominent Hill copper-gold mine in South Australia is proving a money-spinner and its balance sheet will look lazier and lazier over time. RBS calculates that by the end of the 2010 financial year, OZ will be sitting on $1.7 billion cash, rising to $2 billion in 2011 even if it pays an annual dividend of 4c to 5c a share. The obvious options for OZ are acquisitions and/or a return to shareholders via dividends or a buyback."

" OZ Minerals, which is sitting on $1 billion or so of cash after selling the bulk of its assets to China Minmetals, has made a tiny dent in that balance by contributing to recent raisings by Minotaur Exploration and Toro Energy to avoid dilution.
It would be understandable for the company to remain cautious about splashing out on a big acquisition in light of the chequered history of predecessor Zinifex's purchase of Allegiance Mining and the Zinifex-Oxiana merger.

Anyone have info on OZ please? Is it similar to BHP's Olympic Dam?
"Mr Kimber said it was expected a failure of a haulage system at the Olympic Dam copper/gold/uranium would affect production at the South Australian mine.
Olympic Dam produces about 1 per cent of the world’s mined copper and 8 per cent of the world’s mined uranium." |

" AUSTRALIA'S biggest gold producer, Newcrest Mining, says it will use its strong cash position to look for acquisitions alongside organic growth to grow gold production by 40 per cent over the next five years.
Its chief executive, Ian Smith, told shareholders at Newcrest's annual meeting in Melbourne that it also planned to increase copper production by 30 per cent while continuing to drive down costs and debt levels.
At a media conference afterwards, Mr Smith said Newcrest had spoken to a number of companies about potential gold and copper projects, including outside its Asia-Pacific focus. He said Newcrest's $1 billion cash position left it ready to strike."

" Toro Energy Ltd plans to start producing uranium from its Wiluna project by 2012, after raising more than $40 million from investors.
The uranium explorer on Tuesday said proceeds from a recent capital raising would be enough to fund all approvals and complete a bankable feasibility study by 2011 for the project in Western Australia.
Wiluna has an inferred resource of 19.8 million pounds.
OZ Minerals, which has a 49.9 per cent stake in Toro, said it would spend $19.9 million to maintain its shareholding in the company.
The shares, costing 15 cents each, were at a discount to Toro's opening price on Tuesday of 19.5 cents."

"The official resurrection of Rio Tinto's sale of the Northparkes copper-gold mine in NSW - expected to fetch in the neighbourhood of $US1 billion ($1.1 billion) - has led some investment bankers scrambling to pitch (or re-pitch) the acquisition to potential buyers.
As noted yesterday, OZ Minerals had expressed serious interest in the asset before the sales process, run by Macquarie Capital, was pulled during the depths of the global financial crisis last year.
Northparkes is a mid-tier asset that is most likely too small to attract the interest of major diversified miners such as BHP Billiton, Anglo American, Vale and Xstrata. Additionally, the J a p anese trading house Sumitomo owns 20 per cent of the mine, and it is unclear whether it holds a pre-emptive right over the remaining stake.
Industry sources said potential buyers of Northparkes would likely include companies such as OZ, Anto asta, Vedanta, Hindalco, China Minmetals, and possibly Glencore, which owns the Cobar copper mine in NSW."

Old, but new with lots of upside potential and investment $$ attached.

"Most of the talk centers on whether global mining giants BHP Billiton (BHP.AX) (BLT.L) or Vale (VALE5.SA)(VALE.N) could bid for big potash players, but there's also a chance that big importers China or India could try to squeeze out the middleman by buying a supplier.
Vale and BHP already have modest potash holdings that could be parlayed into a commanding position. Vale denies it's interested in acquisitions to expand its fertilizer portfolio, although BHP is a touch more coy about whether it would consider a buy. [ID:nSYD454495]"
