| ang - Heres a new plan for you, have a look at the M D's presentation of Citi gold, a mine up in N Qld @ Charters Towers http://www.citigold.com The mine has huge gold reserves and at least a 30 year production life. Making money share trading has got to be better than working 2 jobs, running the gauntlet with obese people on crowded buses and all that. I'm doing ok trading,so much so that I gave up work last December. Not having to go to work makes living less expensive. Like I say often work takes up too much of your spare time. Just to let you know,I'm all too familiar with the Sydney city ratrace as I was a courier for many years and Market st is a bugger to do deliveries(no parking).Like try delivering 400 kg of reflex to 49 Market st. and avoid getting booked by those over Zealous parking goons? Another thing on gold have a cruise through the Perth Mint site sometime you should find that interesting. How about a couple of 100oz bars under the bed? Oh yeah & thanks for your kind words the other day re my divorce. |

Hi Fire,
Just when I was contemplating to rush to the casino and cash in my chips to invest the receipts into gold, you issued your warning.
Hm, now I need a new plan. I may have to turn to fortune cookies for predicting my financial future. |

Hello Billy:) Hi All :)
Ausguy and I have a financial interests in some commodity sectors and we have had private conversations about this in the past. What I am not "Keen" on (pardon the pun) is let the details of my financial investments out in public. But sometimes some details slip out in conversation on financial matters particularly when I trust the good will of the other party.
I don't recommend anyone to follow what I am doing as it always involves some risk both in the personal relationship and the financial. Some people go even further and let out publicly private and personal emotional and health issues on the blog! But all of us leak information about ourselves all the time so just being on the blog involves risk. Every thing I post is just my opinion and is not financial advice so DYOR!
On your trouble with ASIC comment mate have you ever checked out the stocks and share talk message-board on this forum, HC and ASF? If they don't cop it from ASIC then it is highly unlikely we will for just mentioning a few companies by name and asx code!
In any case I suspect it was speculation and conversation about the likely devaluation of the US$ caused by the massive national debt and private debt in the US$ and its relevance to Keens Predictions that triggered that friendly exchange about Gold and REOs as a possible refuge should the fallout occur as "Keen predicts".

Billy,
since I can't talk about markets, investments etc, but I can recommend books, here is my pick for (just) for you (don't expect theoretical finance, I know you can use a spread sheet): I really enjoy reading Peter L Bernstein's historical take on different aspects of finance in the context of social development.
So this is for you (and only you):
short link

or long link (your choice)

Keep in touch,

Oh Billy,
You have made my day.
So good to hear from you (:!
Sorry for my last reply, my apologies for being an arrogant b**** (moderator will not let me use a certain expression).
Of course I missed you, you are smart and witty.
Now, that is a good combination. I like people who have an opinion and are capable of expressing it without fear or favor. More importantly, you know your banking stuff (:.
Menta; you have to admit he sticks to his gun. Very few people are as principled as he is. He reminds me of Galileo, a (lonely) voice of reason in the choir of exuberant financial investors.
Yes Billy, you are right; there should not be endless discussion about home affordability, private debt, household income and taxes. Homes are a social issue, people need a place to live and people need an income to provide for necessities.
Yes, of course Elliot Wave is just a simple fractal geometry, so is Ludwig van Beethoven's music and they both can be beautiful.
Yes, markets are sand-piles and we are just ash, the truth is a product of doubt. I promise to read Ubiquity. I even promise to write to you about it (if you ever follow this string again).
About my pole dancing travel; my 2nd job is in Crows Nest, the rest of the week I work on Market Street (in the City). I am not very good at public transport. Being small (160cm) and slim (48 kg), I am a magnet for fat people (really fat one and a half seat fat). They love to sit next to me. I rather stand and fly like Mary Poppins (ex umbrella) in the chaotic, peak hour traffic.
When you are tired of making money, or you feel that you have made too much for the day, please stop and write a few lines.
Thanks Billy for letting me know you are alive and still kicking (:

Hi Ang
Billy's back after little rest in rehab. I have been taking my blue pills, but I was a little put out at your last response to me....I was seriously getting the impression that no one was understanding what I was saying. Anyway, just to set the record straight:
Ang..I respect Keen and like what he has to say. Post-Autistic school is me too. The only issue I have with him is the subject of the blog: "predictions". Anyway he has learnt the hard way and hopefully he will stop trying to predict the unpredictable.
Menta...I agree with your subscription to Prechters socionomic ideas. My problem is that Prechter is not original and other behavioural economists/behavioural finance guys do it better and with more rigor. And don't be such a contrarian just for the sake if it. You are aware that Elliot Wave is just a simple mans fractal geometry that comes from power law return distributions?
House prices....they are expensive. Period. Always were, although a little more now and yes, some of the reason is tax related....does that mean a wholesale collapse? Major change to negative gearing? No, and get over it.
General discussion....seizing on various statistics and crafting various scenarios to suit your view. This is possible to do only in a complex system such as the economy, but the endless going around in circles on household income and lending is just not useful....jeez its more akin to arguing about who will win the Grand Final and why.
Time for the end of the blog..Keen was wrong, he will do the walk, and Menta will lose the ASX 3120 bet by year end. Fire and others are turning this into a stock picker's forum and we'll have ASIC up us like a ferret very soon.
In the meantime read a fabulous book called Ubiquity..it'll show you why stock markets are similar to sand-piles and you start to get a bit closer to the truth.
Ang, take care on the 520 to North Sydney, Menta may your concavity forever keep you in the tube...now I've got some money to make.... |

Hi Ausguy:)
Just popped in after a ride with a few mates and have to pop out again soon.
LYC are not wasting any time getting production under way! Also there seems to be a heap of speculating media articles circulating in multiple languages about a major push by western governments to replace the almost total reliance on China given the strategic nature of these metals.
It seems there may be a high level meeting to address this issue in the next few weeks! These reports are probably just a stock price ramping attempt but who knows? - time will tell. :)

| fire - Nil R E's only the goldies. I'm similar to you plenty of opportunities I D'd but no more $$$ to spend. The USD index has done an upward U turn tonight & gold is down around USD $1044. I expect it to finish lower by the end of the N Y day. We shall see what unfolds in the coming weeks. Here's a couple more for your list (fast trade bucks?). Hemisphere HEM gold, uranium & Iron ore 30c & a rocket. Gondwana GDA uranium & gold was 3c now 7.5c.Maybe they have more upside? I'm waiting for some overdue probate to come? When it does I'll pump some into Quick trades. So many ops. have sailed passed. Since July $5k could be at least $50k now when I compounded it back in. That includes taking out my original $5k @ $10k. So my original $$$ were safe. You can't lose when your playing with $OPM$. |

Its a nice dream Ausguy:)
The wind and the smells of the forest and the thrill of my Chrome girlfriend under me - pardon the pun he he :)
Are you in with the any of the REO producers at the moment?
Or are you sticking with only the Gold producers I am still looking into them as well - so little money so many opportunities some things never change he he :)
Hopefully I haven't been mistaken to pick this one.... Only time will tell by the end of next week a trend should be definable if its good I will stay in if not I wont have lost much if I bail - so we shall see.

Hi Angie :)
Everyone had a bad day today. I came home tonight after a fairly annoying day only to have to run one of my young heroes down to the Doc for a few stitches in his noggin. Apparently he slipped and head butted the door frame just before I got home - romping in the house again I suppose Grrrr !!!

Hi Ausguy:)
Yes I am holding and have taken up the rites issue. There has been some interesting plays going on with the rites issues and directors that I am now keeping in mind for the future should any company I hold do a 1 for 1 rites issue in the future at such a high discount I will sell my shares after I accept the issue and buy back in at a lower price to add to the rites shares like all LYC's directors did as soon as the trading halt ended :)
They must have made a fortune in just a few days with that little stunt! Clever boys! There has been massive volumes of this stock traded this week so much so that it has been 4 x higher than the next highest ASX volume at times.
I expect once the dust settles that the SP with take off especially when they get into production! Announcements like the one you mention will no doubt help the price.
When in production they will supply and process REOs from their mines and presumably the other Ozy REO miners as well. The potential for growth is outstanding and based on the likely demand for REOs At least that is what I expect to happen based on their now adequate capital and the current SP for the other RE miners that even now will not be processing as well.
My involvement after the rites issue is now double the conservative holding that I told you about earlier via PM.

Hi Fire,
I think I need a few (or more) drinks...Had a *** day at work and trying to change jobs. When in a better mood I may type a long inflation bed_time story. (only if you promise not to nitpick on the dumb_down version of the facts....
I tried pole dancing on the 520 bus from the North Shore to the City. The driver thought his piloting an airplane so we flew over the bridge. I was standing (sometimes) when not airborne hanging to the pole with my fingertips...Didn't have darts with me, sorry could not attempt a new portfolio. (: |

Hopefully it makes you feel more jolly and sets you up for a good weekend :)
I thought you were quoting something from Keens blog initially but I see now that my assumption was incorrect and I do apologize if my teasing query offended. No offense intended :)

Hi Fire & Jay,
'Is that earnings ($100) verses total debt ($145) derived from the GDP figures or some other statistics?'
Please spare me, you both are more intelligent than to 'pretend' questions/comments. Look at the context in which I had written that one line.
Sorry, tonight I have lost my sense of humour. |

Lasty,
Don't expect me to disagree with you; Menta is favorite resident bear brain trust and of course I like him!
I don't think he is all doom & gloom, and perhaps that is why he is refreshingly different. I value his honesty, sharp_analytical mind and believe we do need him more than he needs us.
Lasty, I agree with you 100%, his day will come.

Yup they gave me the heads up that things were shakey in the US.
Down here though it was a different story in the housing market and the info didn't correlate to our property market as different fundamentals were in place here.
I don't speculate in property so I wasn't overly concerned on a personal front unlike an over dramatic Keen who assumed the trend would be global.
Going forward I look at trends and stick with them.
I never get the tops or bottoms only if I'm lucky but there is enough to be made in between.
In Australia I believe int rates will remain firm the AUD will be supported long term. |

Well, as they say, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
EW goes far beyond charting and technical analysis, although they have fine-tuned Elliott wave and other market analysis tools, yet it's their unparalleled insight into the sociological and psychological signals of the marketplace that is truly unique. That, and the fact that what they present not only all makes sense, but more importantly they are proven correct - time and again (unlike the 'mainstream' who got it all terribly wrong in recent years and continue to do so today).
So did your trusted sources warn you of the initial GFC Lasty?
More importantly, what are they forecasting moving forward? |

Jay,
Im sure Menta is either running a PR campiagn for Mr Prechter or has his house wallpapered in Elliott Wave charts.
Menta,
Thanks for the offer of Elliot Wave Inc.
My experience with chartists was this.
I had them once sit down with me the point and figure man, elliot wavers, candletsick makers, basically the lot of the soothsayers.
I asked them all for a directional play.Cut a long story short everything they suggested turned to losses.
When I asked for an explaination they all refused to admit it was their system.
So rather than going through the headache of who to blame I bought a mirror and decided to decipher the information myself from a few trusted sources. |

"Menta has a purpose on this site: he is the only true contrarian on this site. So when you filling exuberant about your investments, start reading Mentas comments, it will bring you down to Earth."
Well we had a few contrarians (Doom and Gloomers) earlier on in the year but surprisingly they have departed.
Menta on the otherhand has shown good spirit and stuck by his guns.Rightly or wrongly his views I like him.

Correction.......
Hi Jay :)
A similar though occurred to me!
Is that earnings ($100) verses total debt ($145) derived from the GDP figures or some other statistics? Or is it for ($100) earned we own ($145) in interest? - as posted here it is a little imprecise! It could be either a really bad disaster or nothing to worry about he he :)
So can anyone clarify it please?
