The point being made here is Keen wants rates down Harvard wanted them up.How could they both lose?
As for Harvard's return 2008/2009 27.3% down

Looks like they made quite a few mistakes.
These are meant to be the brightest in their fields and I would have thought their network would be fairly informed. |

Harvard endowment fund is about USD36billion. A loss of USD500million is less than 5%. People makes mistake sometimes. In the long run Harvard Endownment fund makes tons of money. The first rule of being a trader is to admit a mistake and learn from it.
You can not compare Harvard with UWS. This is like comparing tiger and ants. |

I recently bought an Hawaiian-shaped 6'0"x20" retro-fish surfboard (circa 1973) with deep swallow tail and beautiful timber laminates. I stood it in the corner of my office where it truly looked like a piece of art/furniture. Curiosity got the better of me so I waxed it up and took it for a surf in small waves on Saturday. At first it paddled like a door but once I got the feel for it, well it glided like an albatross upon the waves..... |

No Menta, dont get me wrong. I AGREE with the ideas in socionomics and i believe that EW started because smart guys actully noticed the fractal characteristics which are non-normal. its just that there is better theory today from behavioural economics and econophysics. thats the only area in which we disagree....oh, and that the markets will collapse :-)
With "concavity" I was referring to the concave on your surf board....not so subtle way of saying that I am a surfer-dude as well !!! |

Ang, not quite Gallileo, although I am sometimes on the end of just a little of the persecution and ridicule he had to endure (until history proved him correct).
While EW principles are built upon a solid foundation based on a robust fractal model (that repeats at various degrees of trend) it is also strongly supported by their study of social mood trends and unique development in their behavioural field of finance and society called socionomics. And as already said, the proof is, and will continue to be, in the pudding.
Good on 'ya Billy. Although I think closer to actuality than concavity. Certainly much closer than most care to or wish to believe. But I guess only time will tell.... |
