"What on earth is going?"
That is the question which caught my attention when I overheard a man raise it this morning.
And a good question it is!
Banks continue to fail in the US, unemployment over there has risen to 10% and appears to be still rising, small businesses are failing at an increasingly alarming rate and large companies are not only not hiring, they are reducing working hours, production, discounting heavily in order to make sales and laying off workers through early retirement schemes or the like.
To the man who raised the question-
"Good question mate!" |

Market Volatility
It is all too easy to think that the worst is over and possibly a real and lasting recovery has begun.
But friends! Hold on a minute! Stop and think...
The fact is that there are now far more people unemployed than there were one year ago. There are less companies in operation than there were one year ago. Job opportunities are far less readily available to those who are seeking them out than one year ago. Retirment savings have been dessimated and yet the cost of living has remained much the same, (TOO HIGH)!
Whatever you hear or read, the truth is that all we are seeing and hearing of late is HOT AIR.
Unless effective and far more appropriate actions are taken now by government and the continuing waste of tax payers money is stopped our future financial security and the countries economy are doomed! |

Unless we ACT - Our Economy is Doomed!
But what actions can we take to save the economy now that all the monies which were amassed have been so poorly used... if not wasted?
I believe that in the abscence of clear and effective leadership, we can now only hope to seek to protect our own financial security.
For the government is obviously unable to do much to protect us from the real economic disaster which is on the not too distant horizon.
ACT now to save yourself. Do bnot rely on others to look after your financial future for you.
Your only hope is to secutre your financial future yourself by ACTING now.
Seek safe haven for your savings. Waste not your savings on investments whch shall collapse and lose so much of their current value in the months to come! |

Hi sly.guy, you are correct my example was 1 year but I personally fin it hard to believe a job can not be found by anyone within a year.
You talk of cheap labour but in Australia we have a minimum wage (which is part of our problem with rising inflation & house prices), no cheap labour here.
Some fair comments though but you have to admit a big part of the current news about boat people is due to the so called free offers government gives out, not that I am against us accepting true refugees. |

A Caring & Fianncially Responsible Society
Both you and steve_b_wilson are right IMHO jaymarcel.
Improvement is required. But we must be careful not to hurt those who have little choice if any through no real fault of their own depend upon the support provided by the social network whilst seeking out ways and means to make that same network more effective.
Also. I do not agree that unemployment benefits should be restricted to any specific period of time, (if I understood you correctly, your example being 1 year). Many people would experience great hardship with little option but to become homeless or become easy pray for those who seek cheap labour for their own selfish profit should such a change be implemented.
Although not perfect and certainly in need of improvement, what we have at present is not too bad.
We should be proud that our tax goes towards the support of a caring and generous society. A society which cares for the less fortunate.
We cannot all be financially successful mate. |

Hi Steve, I agree that we do need a social network to support those in financial need but it needs serious improving.
Steve I fully support financially assisting the retired & the ill or disabled, to a degree I also support financially assisting the unemployed but anyone that is capable of working being out of work for over 12 months is just not looking & deserves no hand out, the unemployment money should be enough to survive, not go travelling, not getting taxis everywhere, not sitting around drinking & smoking all day/all week. This does happen alot I've witnessed it many times & I don't recall a day gone by where I have not seen a staff needed sign in a window here in Brisbane.
If I had to pay my mortgage I would do any job & I would move anywhere to get a job.
I am over supporting bums. |

| The least fortunate who depend on "handouts" as Jaymarcel refers to them need our support and our empathy. For it is they who suffer most in times of hardship. I for one am proud that I live in a country which maintains an effective social network which is designed to provide support to those who are in need. |

he only statement I'd like to agree on here is
'Instead of spending money in the way of handouts, would it not have been better to have invested in infrastructure? Two examples that spring to mind are several pipelines from the north to the south of Australia. The other expansion would have been on the railways of Australia, increasing capacity to double tracks where possible.'
The rest of you have no reason to go with your negative statements, please explain. |

| Listen not to the overconfident. They preach from on high of the coming of the RECOVERY which we all dream off. Yet no real recovery has as yet devloped. All we see is a calm before the storm. Act now as steve_b_wilson and others have suggested. Take not risks that you do nt have to take. Be cautious and think of your future and that of those who depend upon you. Now is the time to act in such a way as to ensure your future financial freedom. |

"In Politics, nothing happens by accident."
Franklin D. Roosevelt
I agree with your opinion, but it gets worse than that. People have to wake up and realize the fractional reserve monetary sytem is fraudulent. It was designed to fail! We are being collapsed by design. The Federal Reserve/Bank of England/Bank of International Settlements owns the Reserve Bank of Australia. They desire the following.
1. A Global Bank (Similar to IMF and World Bank)
2. A Communist Dictatorial One World Government which they call The New World Order, which is in fact the Old World Order (Anglo/American Empire).
3. Global Carbon Emissions Tax (World Tax) which will be used to gain control over all forms of Industry. Carbon Dioxide is one of the four elements essential to life along with water, sunlight and oxygen. This is a tax on breathing!
4. Depopulation! just read the documents and books produced by the eugenicists like Obama's Science Czar John P Holdren (EcoScience) The Carbon Tax is designed to do just that....depopulate!
5. One world religion (worship of Gaia)
The only way the Globalists can get their one world government is if they collapse the Western economies. They do this through debt! Their favorite weapons are derivatives, the 1.5 quadrillion black hole that is currently sucking up the wealth of the world like a giant vacuum cleaner.
I love my country and its people, but Australians are dumb, fat and complacent. The sytem that is being established is based on the model of Communist China. Get ready for the red flag to replace the Union Jack! |

AWASH WITH CASH THE P.R. OF CHINA EXPANDS ITS POLITICAL INFLUENCE.
Almost daily, reports that the evil and corrupt P.R. of China surface inicating that this most corrupt of states is either negotiating or closing supply contracts with resource rich third world countries worldwide?
The latest being Guinea.
Can you who doubt the evil intent of this most corrupt and power hungry of states not see what is going on?
Political manipulation and control.
But to what end? What is the plan? For what real reason does this evil state now seek to spread its political influence in the the third world?
Possibly to control voting as and when G20 becomes a reality I hear you say....
BEWARE THE EVIL CENTRAL KINGDOM |

G'day all.
I tend to agree with the original post on this thread, and ask the following question:
Instead of spending money in the way of handouts, would it not have been better to have invested in infrastructure? Two examples that spring to mind are several pipelines from the north to the south of Australia. The other expansion would have been on the railways of Australia, increasing capacity to double tracks where possible.
I can see what the Feds are trying to do with the education revolution, however, they have taken an idea and have not thought the idea through to the conclusion. As a result of computers being given to the schools, they have not got the budgets to operate them! The states are now having to pick up the cost of that.
I am also hearing that the AU$ is going to go above the US$ before it takes a swan dive of huge proportions... larger than last year! May be a good time to invest in US$.
Just a few thoughts.
Ding. |

Unless we do something now to stop the waste, we all face the prospect of years & years of paying for failed stimulus.
Are you ready & willing to pay the bill?
What has been stimulated by the waste of billions of tax payers dollars, other than the national debt?
The ECONOMY certainly has not been stimulated. Just open your eyes and look and see.
Instead. The Economy has been supported at a level which can no longer be supported by current nor forecast economic conditions.
RECOVERY IS HERE!! --> Ha! LIES, LIES, LIES!!
Prepare yourselves. |
