Owning investments, especially levergaged ones, is financial suicide during deflation. They all go down in value, and the logistics of getting out of them can be a nightmare - especially real estate.
All assets go down in price during deflation except one - cash. Cash is the only asset that rises in real value (purchasing power) during deflation. Meanwhile, debt also rises in real terms during deflation. So to be indebted on falling asset prices is the worst scenario of all.
Many believe lower returns on safe cash assets is a wasted opportunity. They do not realise that the coming years are all about return of investment - not return on investment. And given the bargains that will present in all asset classes near the bottom of the deflation, these once-in-a-lifetime buying opportunities will be there for the prudent few who preserved their cash. |

Good morning all,
While I've been away I see more people advising not to buy property, well my advice is dont buy shares! If we look at history & who the panicers are at the moment we notice the sharemarket players are scared of spending due to their big losses over the past year.
Where as the people in property are just buying more property (this is what is happening in Brisbane anyway). Property investors are seeing that following a fall of 5% - 10% in the property market over the last 6 months now is a great time to buy more property & lock in a long fixed rate & watch the supply/demand is do the rest. Property prices will rise & rent will rise, what financial position would you like to be in 2015, still renting at higher costs or living in your own home with 5 years paid off your mortgage.
As many have said on here the recovery will all be about Asia & we all know how this affects Oz, more $$$ |

That's pretty funny havefunhere.I think diderot's feelings have been hurt. Either that, or he's gone for Botox injections.
I guess that's why the Yanks are trying to introduce the Cyber Bullying Act. No more disagreeing with anyone! Only politically correct opinions will be tolerated. The Orwellian nightmare is upon us.
Imagine what the world will become when people can't express their opinion. Well, that day is coming sooner rather than later. Despite diderot's wanna be intellectualism, I still respect his right to say anything he likes. Even if he vehemently opposes what people say, I support his right to do so.
We often learn more from those who challenge our preconceived ideas, than from those who agree with us.
Respect to all of you out there searching for truth. |

I find your comments about lazy old foggies quite interesting, and the none questioning of what we oldies are told equally so.
I guess when we were young we treated our own elders with equal disdain, so what we sowed we now reap.
I found the best way to communicate is to keep KISS. My only comment is that there are so many on this line who want to dazzle each other with knowledge, there is no place for us oldies anyhow. Our days of self elevation are well over, and yes its to hard trying to follow these comments by pseudo intellectuals. Oh real oldies I mean like me at 73.
MAybe it would be interesting to get back to the original intent of this blog, debt bubble. Vince. |

It's been a while since I was last here but it's heartening to see someone with writing ability and a sense of humour has finally made an appearance. G'day Mr Diderot.
As to internetscreener, he is like so many others who spend far too long on forums. You can pick them by their use (or misuse) of the ilipsis. It has become so common on the internet! They think it gives their comments gravitas or added profundity but in truth only shows an uncultivated affectation and a lack of rudimentary english skills.
Don't...you... think... so... interscreener...? |

havefunhere...don't worry about diderot...I know his MO!
You see, diderot specializes in diversion. You will notice he never focuses on the true essence or content of a post, but focuses on semantics or a minute discrepancy. He draws potential readers away from the core point, thus he disrupts the attention of the reader. I mentioned Tavistock, yet diderot is cunning enough to divert the potential readers attention toward meaningless banter. I meantion The Royal Institute of International Affairs and he continues the same MO...hah! It's so predictable...it's like he has read a CIA handbook and is following it word for word.
I love going up against pseudo-intellectual wanna be spooks like diderot...it's great....troll all you like bookworm...
it makes no difference to me...you imply that the internet is where the misinformed dwell...yet you use this forum to espouse your so-called intellectual superiority...why are you here then?..shouldn't you be writing a book or something? Instead of focusing on spelling or dates, why not acknowledge that institutes like Tavistock and The Royal Institute of International Affairs specialize in socail engineering aka mass mind control?
P.S. Go on...prove that I am wrong...I bet you can't... |

OMG U R SO RIGHT!
Except that Mozart and Michael Jackson are both old dead dudes who wrote **** music that doesn't have a beat, or for that matter nauseating lyrics. I mean if you're not "giving head" and being made to scream, your girly life is empty!!! Right on the money too about never letting facts get in the way of a good story.
Been to France on holidays lately?

Actually google is not my oracle...in fact I hate google because it's a weapon to track and trace internet users.
You're missing the point...google is just a search engine, and a manipulated one at that!
I think you're trying to pick me up on spelling...fair call.....the spelling is Sigmund Freud.
Please forgive me mr diderot...I am merely a imperfect product of a government indoctrination...I mean education system. |

"I seems to me that attributing agency to an accidental event is a key and common response to virtually every unexpected episode or act of misfortune."
mr_diderot,
I think you may find reality much stranger, than any "Conspiracy Theory Fiction". |
