Listen to the Doomsdayers and MISS OUT! Reply to this message
I was reading through some of the finance message boards and just wanted to warn those gullible enough to believe the doomsdayers that preach "economic collapse" and house prices crashing, and that the FOHG Bonus is pushing up prices and that it's "better to wait until after the grant runs out because prices will drop" - TO YOU ALL I SAY BULL$$!T. Why, you say?

Well let me tell you my story. I have been saving up to buy a house for a number of years. My brother bought a house about 5 years ago and got the $7,000. Last year I was tempted to buy my first house - a new studio apartment that cost $169,500. I wanted to save up a bit more so I waited. In July of 2008 it went up to $175,000. Now this is before the FOHG Bonus was announced so you can't say that it increased because of that. Then in Oct 2008 the FOHG Bonus came in meaning that effectively the governement was GIVING me an extra $14,000 in CASH for buying a new property. Why would any first home buyer in their right mind not take up a CASH HANDOUT of $14,000?

There is no country and I can almost 100% guarantee that there will be no other time in history that a government will give its citizens $21,000 for buying their first home. My brother can't believe how lucky I am, not to mention my overseas friends. Yet these STUPID Doomsdayers keep writing these STUPID messages telling everybody to wait or that the FOHG Bonus is ripping first home buyers off, blah, blah Blah Blah BLAH!! Yes there may be some sellers who try to increase their prices but it's up to US FIRST HOME BUYERS to buy good value. Do your research, shop around, make use of the GRANT while you can BUT if you listen to the doomsdayers YOU WILL MISS OUT AND REGRET IT!

ps. to the people who say house prices will drop 40~50% I say "WHAT A JOKE!" go to rpdata.net.au and see for yourself. The only state that has both unit AND house median prices dropping is WA and even then not more than a percent or so.

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK?
