| I agreed. We all have our own responsibilities. I am not going to pay for other people's kids. Those young parents are not really spending time with their kids. Go to shopping centers and you can see for yourselves how many kids are yelling and not cared for. |

The sad fact of the matter is that for those men and women who choose to be single have copped a flogging from taxes, at the expense of families.
So kylieholmes, as a single person for the last 46 years i like so many other singles are sick to death of forking out for families. As for political parties, they are all the same, they just hang their hats in a different corner. |

| we dont have a say on what they want to spend the money on, some people are not like what you have said, so you just think off people that love having a family and stay home with their loved ones i know i do. and i am far from one of those persons you have said, just think one day when you have children lets see if you say i dont want the payment. some parents have to go back to work these days not because they want to is because they just have to cause off all the changes gone on with Labour, did you vote them in if so them what are you bloody complaning about. we dont ask for the money the government just does what they want. |

| You are exactly right on this. For nearly all my working life (as a single taxpayer) my tax payment has been approximately equal to the child endowment (or whatever it's called now) subsidies for somebody else's two kids. Not happy Jan! |

| If your on $150,000 a year income theres no reason why you would need parental leave..gee wizz even $50,000 a year is a income i can only dream of.Yeah it seems the government made sure that any people working in government get this payment, arent their incomes around the $150,000 mark.( just sliped in).Plus to the first reply on this...sometimes both MUM and DAD have to work...i repeat Both have to work. |

| Why should tax payers have to support couples who decide to have children? Why have children if you are not going to be able to raise them urself? All I see is couples that want want want! they want the flash cars and houses yet they want the kids too.But they dont raise the kids THEMSELVES!! they leave them in care from 6am till 6pm 5 days a week. They come home from picking the kids up from Child Care and feed them, then put them to bed. Then wake up the next morning and do it all again. They are not Parents, they do not raise them, they leave them for others to look after. Why bother having them ?? Why not work ur butts off, then when u are finally satisfied with what u have, Then have the kids!!. Why should you get paid 18 weeks to stay home with your baby when its just going to go into care once those 18 weeks are up??. If you want kids stay home, raise them urself, go without, thats what being a parent is all about. I dont see why myself and others have to pay your way for 18 weeks just because u want your cake and eat it too!! Kids are full time, not part time in betweens. Thats what is wrong with alot of our youth today- There is no one home looking after them. Both mum n dad work all the time and the kids look after themselves, get into trouble and others are left picking up the pieces. You have em u look after them its called RESPONSIBILITY!!! |

If you can not afford to take time off work to have a baby well then dont have one.
Why should we pay, you's get the $5'000.00 as it is and that is a big joke so many young parents waist it any way. |

I didn't get paid leave when my kids were born.
No first home grant when I got my first home.
We did it tough and learned to appreciate all we acquired.
They should too. |

| they want mansions ,and both need to work to pay for them. they need to choose , kids or jobs, like we of the older generation had to do. We survived without childcare.Once the maternity leave cuts out ,they will want cheap childcare. and somebody else will rear them till school age. There are plenty of unemployed needing jobs, who will never get the chance to work because these selfish people want and expect it all. they are the reason the young cant get jobs |
