| The way that the current govt arrange the spin there's no way for sure to say what we're getting. Even journos are hamstrung by being forced to provide canned questions and no follow ups allowed (David Koch I'm talking to you). No one seems to question where will the 'new' Australians live or what jobs will be done when thousands of migrants (presumably Indonesians and/or Chinese) come in to fill the 'labor shortage', especially with the forcasted 60k jobs being lost. Companies will think twice about providing Super as an incentive and now that Laptops, mobiles, etc are subject to FBT (anything up to 25%). The follow on effects are: Companies don't upgrade systems (IT profession get a big hit there), mobiles and carriers will be affected by corporates not issuing phones, business lunches and meals will be cut - meaning restaurants and cafes will be slugged, the 'luxury car' tax is that pre or post GST (a car of $55k before GST could mean 5.5k GST and 4k 'luxury tax'). Like politicians, I am sure that there are people who rort but I hope that's the minority. Very inconsistant choices have been made here. I say: Welcome to the 80s people; We have the music, fashion AND now the economy! Just remember 1989 and after... |
