I would, I live on 10,500 pa,
That and now also provide 25% care to my four kids, (thanks to the recent changes in the application to family tax benefit), I am stuck on newstart because it is remotely possible that one of the three permanent illnesses that I suffer could improve in the next two years, and therefore my ability to cope with ther other two...go figure. My GP cannot believe that I do not qualify for DSP |

If there is a way, it sounds like you will find it. Ignorance can be spiteful and is a false bliss and I agree with you, it is disabled.
Cheers. |

Buddy I won't talk about my situation other than saying I though I was finnished.
I now realise that I am far from finnished.
Have a look at blogging or some other type of online business where you make your money from thinking and using your brain.
Clearly you still have your thoughts so your nowhere near finnished yet. Try a few things and see how you go.
You never know you may even find something that you enjoy doing and make a good living from it.
The first step is to stop feeling sorry about your challenges and start looking for a way out. |

Nah, Ive got ms and lupus, and unfortunately its for life. i loved my job but my body wont behave itself well enough to make working a viable option. It just upsets me that people think a disability pension is an easy option. Its hard to get, one has to be certified stuffed by a collection of specialists and its frustrating not because I'm sick all thetime but each morning is a challenging experience. i can't even imagine what it's like for people who start life in reverse. i was at least able to work for 20 years before it became too difficult. I do volunteer work on an ad hoc basis but Im a workcare risk for most employers.
The saddest thing is that many disability pensioners need other people to stand up for them as because of illness they cant do it themselves. ta for the thoughts. |

Hi Slawalhar,
Whatever you do don't give up buddy. Been in your situation for something like 10 years. I am now self employed and loving it.
Where there is a will there is a way!
Keep looking for a solution. One day you will find a way!
Good luck! |

| All i can hope is that one day you will have a severe disability and be unable to work even if you wanted to.Most of us who are disabled and struggle to get from a to b on a daily basis don't enjoy the situation and having people like you around making uninformed and nasty comments just makes it worse. |

Popence
Liar liar I say of you
For one if you recieve Meals On Wheels then you are in the loop the HACC loop and they do not miss days .
there is nothing hit and miss about MOW if you have 3 courses you are paying $5.50 a day lucky you
HACC would no doubt be doing your garden for 2hours every 4 weeks for $14.
you are probbaly having your home cleaned for $7 a hour no doubt you also have taxi vouchers
HACC Home And Community Services just who the hell do you think provides this service THE GOVERMENT
How about you think about the people making $40 more than you a fortnight but who don't get any support.
BECAUSE THEY ARE WORKING they also support families you look after you .
They are called the working poor .
By the way if you can use a PC you can work !!!!!!!!!!!! |

| Rang Ian MacFarlane's Office in Toowoomba this morning to clarify the $500 payment to PENSIONERS - WHOOPS - I mean to SENIORS. Well done Howard, once again you forget the DISABLED. Liar. 500$ to SENIORS who you allow to be misreported as PENSIONERS. DISABILITY PENSIONERS pay for regular Scripts, Gap Fees and Health Insurance [the cost of which continues to escalate and which the Government does nothing to prevent] just to be sure they get medical help when it's needed; this coupled with the burden of out-of-control fuel increases and price hikes at the supermarket leave them with nothing. SENIORS live off Superannuation, most own their homes, have savings and don't live day to-to-day worrying about when they'll next be sick. Read the FINE PRINT Australians. Both Howard and Rudd are OUT OF TOUCH with reality. Hoodwinked again. |

| I dont know why everyone except the disabled get a bonus either as a lump sum or in the form of tax relief or child care bonuses. Where is mu lump sum? I had scurvy recently. Is this the sort of Australia you want? Where a blind pensioner not of retiring age can get SCURVY. |

| I have many serious health problems which require me to take medicines that I cant afford to pay for. I am blind as well so I sit at home day in day out with no relief and no entertainment apart from my computer. People stopped visiting ages ago because it might mean having to do something for me. I have to get a professional gardener to mow the lawns at forty bucks a pop. I have to pay for groceries to be delivered which is top dollar. I have to take taxis to my appointments. If meals on wheels dont deliver I go hungry. I eat five meals a week. My bills are unmanageable and I still have to pay for meds, cleaning, and full tote odds for anything because I have to do things myself. Please Mr Howard. Get your head out of the Yankee Doodle and help the sufferers here at home. Im hungry. |

| That is so unfair to say age pensioners put their one off payments or any of their money into pokies, are they not allowed to have enjoyment,as you must be having, after all you must be visiting the clubs as well to see all (these so called pokie addicts).By the way the aged haven,t LIVED their life they are still LIVING it. |
