Hey ,I am using my wifes email address so dont take this out on her.
I too planned my life in an orderly fashion,so much so that when my first relationship broke down I left my 2 sons & ex in a fully paid off home & hundreds of thousands of dollars in the bank. However according to the CSA that is not enough,& I have to pay 30% of my nett in maintenance,I also support my wife & her 2 kids .Their father REFUSES to work so he does not have to pay for maintenance & seems to believe that $12 a fortnight exonerates him from any other financial responsability, despite the fact that one of his kids requires special needs.TRY supporting TWO families on less than $1400 per fortnight as well as paying $600 in rent. All government agencies(especially the ones who give aid)see me as responsible for my wife & her kids EXCEPT for the CSA who assess me as a single & REFUSE to factor in the cost of my second family. You say you pay HECS! I have TWO degrees & I worked THREE jobs ,2 of them at night to pay for my degrees upfront,so that the taxpayer did not have to pay for my study, did not the taxpayer pay for you?Did not the taxpayer give you the opportunity to pay for part of your studies in later instalments, when working? I say part of your studies as the taxpayer absorbs a large cost of your degree in the first place,as HECS fees only cover part of the cost of your tertiary education.Should then not others say why should we pay for those wishing to attain tertiary education? It is their choice to study, let them pay for it themselves! I am sure you feel that would be unfair,so do families feel that your comments & that of other DINKS are unfair too

Yes I choose to have my children, szekley!
What I did not choose was to have a child with a severe learning disability which causes the cost of his education to to be double, even triple the cost of a child without that disability.
2 years of daycare, 2 years of kindy, a private primary and secondary school - because he can not get the Aide he has now at a public school - and possibly several remedial years of education after he leaves high school just to bring him up to the level that would allow him to be in the workforce and pay his taxes, instead of being on a disability pension - paid by your taxes - for the rest of his life.
What would you prefer to do, szekley? have your taxes go to helping this child now or pay him a pension for the rest of his life?

Hello Childless Ones!!!
Your taxes pay for many more things. The Budget has slashed childcare & family assistance for those earning over $110,000 combined!!Thats only an income of $55,000 for EACH parent, those without children often earn more than that & do not have to pay for all the costs associated with raisinig children. For starters having children is only a choice if you believe in abortion(contraception does fail),why should young women be forced into such choices because of poverty? According to you only the rich should have children. What a sad world! You once were a child too,if your parents did not have kids you would not be here complaining. When you are old & decrepit these very children will be paying taxes to support your health care need, your pension, transport needs etc etc& dont whine that you have private cover, super etc Life deals a lot of different hands & things may change for you too.Start by being more understanding, you will enjoy life more & who knows one day you too may have a child. My life changed from DINKS (own home & high income)to being a mother, with a child who requires medical care,& a work injury threw me on the disability rubbish heap, not always do people lead the life they choose.Grow up.

Hello to the kidlesses,
I am sorry for the way you feel.... However, the nature of things is that most people have kids.... this include your own parents !!!!! You are lucky to be alive and in Australia, a great place to be.
A society is composed of human beings that have kids.....By choice or not.... This goes for many other things as well....Nobody share the wealth of the riches who amass vast amount of money in a unethical manner and do not care for the rest of the world beside themselves.
Have kids yourself and you will be richer in your heart... The choice of having no kids is a legitimate choice but a selfish and self centered one. So you pay for this right.

I'm not talking about things that people have no choice over, I'm sure that people do not choose to have a disability or live in poverty.
Having a family is a choice and so should be paid for by the people having it.

Taxes also go towards funding for overseas aid, welfare for the unemployed, medicare etc etc etc......there's lots of things I don't use/need/utilise either but my taxes still go towards paying things.....its the way of the world.

Why is it that every year in the new budget, the DINK's have to pay taxes that go straight to helping families?
They decided to have kids, knowing how expensive they are and yet cry poor with inflation and living expences going through the roof.
I pay my taxes, my HECS, my morgage, my petrol bill with very little left afterwards. I don't think that paying for someone's else child to go to daycare is my responisblity.
