This isn't as far as the US, but lots of times I've flown from WA to Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney to see Anthony Callea perform live. Friends have come from Wellington New Zealand to the same cities, plus WA and even more than I have.

Sleepy La Beef.
I flew to the state's to see Mr F Zappa play with some jazz legend's like Les Paul and Don Burrows at the Basement in NY a few year's ago.
When i found out that Sleepy was playing in NY the next month i flew there again just to see him once more before he got too old to play live anymore.
Err, saw a John Lee Hooker & Pine Top Perkin's gig the night before Sleepy as well.
Who's a spoilt boy then.
