The saddest movie I have seen is Sophie's Choice. It's an old one but I couldn't imagine having to choose between my son or daughter knowing it was a death sentence to the one I didn't choose.

Definitely "Pay it Forward", "My Girl" and "Life as a House", but I have cried in a lot of movies. Bawled for the last 20 mins of "Million Dollar Baby" and just recently cried (in happiness I will admit) at "Girl in the Cafe".

Hi There, I agree with The Notebook was sooo sad and I also love to cry watching Forest Gump. In fact I cry during both movies like it is the first time I've seen them every time I see them.

'Life is Beautiful' with Roberto Benigni. It goes from having such a warm, romantic beginning and leads into the most heart-wrenching portrayal of a father's/husband's love that I think I could ever imagine, let alone ever seen. It is so beautiful that RB cast his wife in real life as his wife in the movie, because he could not even pretend to be as in love with anyone as he is with her *awwww*.
I know some people critised this movie, saying it trivialised the holocaust, but I thought that it did the EXACT opposite! The lengths that RB's character went to shield his son from the attrocities that were surrounding him, and his eventual outcome, only illustrate how devestating a period this was and how far people will go to protect their loved one's from suffering in the face of it all.
One of my favourite movies of all time, despite being the saddest movie I have ever seen. A masterpiece. Life truly is beautiful (for some). |

...watch The Elephant Man. If you don't cry, you are not human. It is at least 10 years old but it just can't be beat to pull at your heart string.
