Australian actors are better than USA actors i think aussies are more real they are not plastic like america, british movies are great too,
Russel Crow and Mel Gibson are my fav,fav actress is kate blanchett and the girl who star in two hands i don't know her name lol
--------------------
Is Harrison Ford plastic? Mel Gibson was born in New York and now has a American accent! Sounds like hes a American actor to me. |

cate has the potential to really become another katherine Hepburn ... if the *glittery* starlets don't overshadow her |

| Cate Blanchett - haven't seen her in a bad movie yet. And Gweneth Paltrow stole the acadamy award off of her for Elizabeth. Cate is in a different class to Gwen. |

| I have always admired Jack Thompson for his versatility and great acting. Take a look at "Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence" and Russel Crowe in "Romper Stomper" takes a lot of beating (pardon the pun). Also love Jacqueline Mackenzie (McKenzie?) Hugh Jackman - flat out gorgeous!! |

~~For those who think Mel Gibson is a great 'Aussie' actor, his biog starts~~
ALSO .. while Nicole Kidman has aussie parents and by all accounts considers herself to be an aussie .. she is ALMOST in the same situation as Mel ..as she was born in Hawaii, and i believe she actually has dual citizenship ( though again .. happy to be corrected if not the case) |

~~For those who think Mel Gibson is a great 'Aussie' actor, his biog starts~~
yep that's true .. his father , Hutton did not think it was a good idea to allow his family to stay in the USA during the Vietnam war and left in an effort to keep his son's from the draft ... NOW had Mel's parents not been immigrants to the USA themselves .. the draft would still have been a possibility BUT i BELIEVE ( nb will happily stand to be corrected if somebody proves otherwise) the Gibson Children would have been able to claim UK citizenship and THUS avoid the draft......
Hutton Gibson won SALE OF THE CENTURY in either the late 1980's or early 1990's .. very intelligent man BUT somewhat a religious fanatic....... try doing a google on Hutton Gibson and see what you can find. |

Nicole Kidman
These two are not only exceptional actors but are always dignified and show a healthy sense of humour. I think they are great Aussie ambassadors. |

For those who think Mel Gibson is a great 'Aussie' actor, his biog starts - Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson was born on January 3, 1956, in Peekskill, New York, USA.
May have made his first movie in Oz but that does not make him an Aussie, sorry. |

Finally remembered the name of the Aussie female lead from Secret Life of Us that I mentioned a few days ago...it was Claudia Karvan.
Quite a talented local actress...could go much further given the opportunity.
But that is just my opinion...
Cheers! |

Then again, Russ got an Oscar for the performance that was probably least-deserving.
As is often the case... |

John Mellion fine actor
Bryon Brown
David Gulpillil
Jack Thompson
Anthony Lapalgia
Mel Gibson (AUS+ very little US)
Geoffry Rush
Errol Flynn
Russell Crowe (AUS + NZ)
I think Russell Crowe is the best. He should have won 3 academy awards in my opinion. His performances in "The Insider" and "A Beautiful Mind" were 2 of the most powerful movie carrying performances of the last 50 years of English speaking cinema. His losing the best actor award to the politically correct choice of Denziel Washington (Training Days) was a bloody disgrace. It was one of those decisions which proves that the oscars are not really that relevant when it comes to judging great cinima.
Mel and Geoffry are the other 2 stand outs from the rest
Mel has great range and presence
Geoffry is a magnificent interpreter of a role |
