I agree, One Rockinchica.
Cate Blanchett is fab and so versatile in her acting abilities.
I can't believe no-one even mentioned Rachel Griffiths.
Mirand Otto, pretty good.
Toni Colette is great.
C ya. |

eaglejaz. You mentioned you are autistic. There is a fantastic movie on dvd called "Mozart and The Whale".
It tells the story of two people with aspergers syndrome (an increasingly common form of autism).
It's two main actors are Josh Hartnett and the fantastic and very talented and gourgeous Australian actress Rhada Mitchell.
She has also worked on a Woody Allen movie recently. She is super talented as is Rachel Griffiths (most recently seen in 6 Feet Under) (Black comedy/drama) No longer screening on television but the box set is available on dvd. She is equally as talented as Toni Collette and Cate Blanchett. She has a great range of roles and is very versatile.
Other notabable aussies in acting are:
Daniel Macpherson (currently starring in new series on Nine (I think)?
Mick Molloy (comedy/drama)
Hugh Jackman
Eric Bana
Simon Baker (seen most recently in The Devil Wears Prada) also on US and Australian screens in "The Guardian"
Heath Ledger is highly overated
Russell Crowe is Kiwi and has a bad attitude which needs adjustment.
Sam Neill is great although Kiwi not Aussie
Mental block at the moment, his name is on the tip of my tongue, Aussie actor starred most recently in "Little Fish" opposite Cate Blanchett. Also starred in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Anthony La Paaglia is good, although hasn't lived here for years and unsure if he was born in Australia?
The guy from Secret Life Of Us. Can't think of his name either, although his character's name in show was Sam.
I can't believe no-one even mentioned the fantastic Rachel Griffiths.
See ya. |

| well, because i'm autistic i take a reference to all the good method actors like pia miranda, and miranda oto, who play real life, real next door type personalities in an australian movie that is, not like lord of the rings, not all autistic people like lord of the rings. Barry otto has that autistic charm to in Cosi. |

| I'm an American, and until recently, I didn't realize Toni Colette was Australian. I thought she was British. She's one of my most favorite actresses in the UNIVERSE. She's brilliant and versatile. Geoffrey Rush is also a grand master! |

| Although i don't agree that australians are better actors necessarily, than american actors as you put it, i think there are good and bad actors in all backgrounds, including australian. My favorite australian actors would be Nicole kidman and heath ledger. |
