So pleased to see no mention of Nicole Kidman...after her revealing that she is subject to harrasment from Australian media photographers, may I say the best thing for us is for her to stay where she belongs in Nashville, Keith come home anyday!!

Agree with all of these (but not H & A _ sorry!). Especially Bud Tingwell - truly a legend and, I think, still acting although has had ill-health lately. Lovely man too. Lots of talented actors/actresses in Oz.

I have recently read that he was delayed briefly when waiting for his application for acceptance by AUS Immigration, that was 2006 so one can safely assume he is now a citizen, lives in AUS still

Felix, you are correct in referring to Toni Collette as an ACTRESS.
Only the politically correct wangkers include females as "actors".

Noah Taylor was one of my favourite actors for a long time and showed a lot of promise as a teenage actor in "The Year My Voice Broke".

I also loved Sacha Horler's raw and uninhibited performance in "Praise".

Re:Favourite australian actor/tactress Reply to this message
based on your reasoning rygar069 we can't claim Mel Gibson either. He was born in the US and, I think came to Oz when he was 12. I could be wrong with his age.

Rachel Ward is English and still does some acting.

Like

Johnathon La Paglia
Bryan Brown
Nicole Kidman
Mel Gibson
Russell Crowe
Kate Blanchett
Toni Collette
Rachel Griffiths
Heath Ledger
Simon Baker
Anthony La Paglia
Ray Meagher
Cornelia Francis

I'll be back when I've finished work. But this is a start!

Re:Favourite australian actor/tactress Reply to this message
One of my favourites is Toni Collette, she is a truley brilliant actress (or do we call them all actors now?.

Nicole Kidman is actually American (born in Honolulu, Hawaii. She has a US birth certificate. Because her parents were Australian, she was citizenship by descent. I belive she actually had dual citizenship.

Yes, Russell Crowe was born in Wellington New Zealand, he is a New Zealander - I know he is currently a permanent resident in Australia, but don't know if he actually has citizenship (Des any one know the answer to that?)

I enjoyed John Jarrot in Wolfe Creek, he gave me the shivers. Wouldn't want to meet him in the outback, he was too realistic - maybe thats what makes him a great actor.

Judy Davis, defintely is up their as a great actress.

Never been a big fan of Mel Gibson, but he has produced and acted in some brilliant movies.

A classic is our Geoffrey Rush (ulgy as he is) he can act.

Eric Bana has proved his talents in acting better than he did in comedy.

I think Ben Mendelsohn is underated.
