Re:Best Australian Movie Reply to this message
There are not that many Australian movies that are good...They always portray Australians as a bunch of drongos or i d i o t s, lol. Sure that can be funny, but it can be offensive too. The story lines are usually silly. They could do so much better! (More dramas, less childish comedys)...

I hate to say it, cause I really want to support the Australian media industry, but Aussie movies aren't... great. Although I do have a favourite... Wog Boy no doubt about it! So funny!

Re:Best Australian Movie Reply to this message
there was three or four of the movies but the only title I can think of at the moment is Smiley Get Your Gun. Chips Rafferty was in nearly all of them.
The kid who played Smiley apparrently was a drummer in the Bee Gees or some band like that

The Proposition

Breathtaking cinematography, a uniquely Australian take on the western and music by Nick Cave. Best Aussie movie I've seen in a long while.

The Sundowners was screened last Saturday and it took us back to our childhood. But I agree, the "Within Bow Bells" accents of the 'Australian' graziers wife was hilarious! It was indeed a Classic Australian Movie.

Re:Best Australian Movie Reply to this message
One of the best, most recent Australian films would be "Candy" - Heath Ledger is fine, and Abbie Cornish is excellent and very pretty. Geoffrey Rush makes it seem effortless as always.
A couple of other all time Australian film classics would include "Mad Max" and "The Rage in Placid Lake."
