Thunderstruck was a good aussie flick,
Aswell as Garage Days,
Dirt,
Ofcourse The Castle..(love it)
My dad always raves about Death in Brunswick.. Will have to watch it one day soon..
I liked 28 shades..
and loved the movie Stranded.. Although I've only been able to catch it on SBS a few times. can't find it on DVD anywhere..
The Nugget was also good..
I really enjoy aussie comedies.. our country needs to make more! |

I think "Proof" is the movie you might be searching for.
A great Aussie black comedy featuring Hugo and Russell Crowe
"Bad Boy Bubby" is certainly one of my favourite (very black) Aussie comedies.
Must admit I find most of the others mentioned (especially anything with Jimeon in it) rather lame and predictable (along with most hollywood comedy) |

Hasn't anyone ever seen Hercules Returns? By far the funniest Aussie movie I've ever seen.
The man from Hong Kong is also great. Another one I liked was Mr Reliable. |

'Crackerjack'
I liked the old lady's line about the swear jar
"Thats the jar you have to put money in if you say f##k" |

Yeah, they were ok. Dont get me wrong, Australia has made heaps of great comedies, but Im just sick of seeing the standard Aussie comedies, of: A battler VS. The corporations/the government etc. Throw in some jokes about how uncultured we are, a few steretypical lines, and a few jokes about ethnics, and you have a funny show.
I think Australia has made better dramas than comedies in the past few years. (Little Fish, The Bank etc.) |

| You Cant Stop The Murders was an independent Australian movie starring Akmahl Sahlly (apologies if I spelt it wrong). It is one of the most funny Aussie films I have seen. Much funnier than crap like Strange Bedfellows etc. If you get a chance, see it. |

I know there are way more than 10 aussie movies that have been hilarious...just really struggling to think of them....think it's got alot to do with the lack of marketing of our own cinema over the huge amounts of tripe that spews forth from america....
it's mno wonder most of our best go and live there...for shame..
anyway..as best as memory will allow..
1 - Road to Nhill
2 - The Castle
3 - Death in Brunswick
4 - Soft Fruit
5 - Murial's Wedding
6 - Prisilla Queen of the Desert
7 - Looking For Ali Brandi
............er..hmmmm
8 - The Big Steal
9 - The Dish
nope..that's it...sure there's got to be more with Hugo Weving in there....bloody legend that he is...anyone? |
